I won't name drop anyone, but I appreciate being helped in a friendly way when dealing with something that I'm not excited to have to do. When I kept getting notices of proof of insurance being required, I was helped out. I don't have a printer so that I could send these documents but thanks to my agent I could electronically sign, and they sent it directly to Progressive, who kept bugging me for the proof of coverage. So, this is a good start. I hardly ever spoke to my handlers back in NJ, and may not here either, but so far, I'm glad that they're pleasant to deal with.

I posted on Facebook asking friends for advice, assuming it was pointless. But then one of them said I should look into a broker - an option I had no idea was available, nor that it was free. Then all I had to do was choose from the two, let him know, and he got me enrolled and activated. No fuss, no stress. He was friendly, empathetic, understanding, and answered all of my questions thoroughly and without judgement - even the ones I personally thought were probably dumb questions. He was even willing to discuss my options with a family member that has been trying to help me with the process of getting on insurance, if she had any other questions she wanted to ask him. Even after I was on an active plan, Gary and his team have encouraged me to come to them if I have any further questions, and made sure I know they're available for any other advice I may need in the future. In conclusion, I literally cannot recommend Gary Franke and his team enough. They got done in less than a week - and only took as long as that because I had to make my choice on the plans and slept on it - what I was on the verge of a breakdown trying to do on my own for months. If any of the many people I had spoken to on the myriad of phone calls with WA Healthplan Finder, or any of the insurance companies, had just once suggested a broker, I could have escaped so much stress. If you're on the fence about a broker - do it. It's so worth it, and you can't go wrong with Heffernan Insurance Brokers, and Gary Franke and his team. They are extremely knowledgeable about all this stuff, and genuinely want to help you with what you need and where you're at. There's a reason they have so many 5-star reviews here; and I promise that those reviews are telling the truth, because I know mine is. Reach out to them. I promise you won't regret it.

Getting to know when they reimburse the insured for submitted claims, where are the checks they claim they sent, how to stop payment on all those checks that were never delivered and reissue replacement checks etc., for two elderly gentlemen in their mid 80's with Alzheimer's is like talking to a stump. I make calls and get transferer to what I assume are answering service persons out of the country who cannot help me and place me on hod for excessive periods of time only to tell me all the mangers are too busy to take my call and to give them a date in the future when they will call me. Insurance companies control a large amount of the world's finances, and it is evident they plan to control those funds by delaying payment as long as they can by not putting an individual on the phone who is incapable of answering a few simple questions. Ther are a lot of Long-Term Care Insurance Companies out there; don't spend over 20 years paying into a fund such as Farmers when their systems cannot answer simple questions.

Imagine that!! What's the point of having an agency business model if they don't respond and make it harder? I tried calling another West Seattle State Farm agent to switch my business and they said they try not to do that but if Heather's office keeps it up I'll find a way to get a new agent. I'm normally very empathetic with folks - I really don't know what's going on and I try to be patient but driving around uninsured in a new car is a very vulnerable place to be.

However, with a recent incident the true colours of the parent company and their "licensed" agent had become clear. They have little to no interest in being a helpful partner. Everyone from the claims team to the local agents have been incredibly difficult to connect with, they consistently point to the website + app instead of making themselves available to provide assistance during the difficult and complex process of getting through the claims process (WHAT YOU"RE PAYING THEM TO DO). It's evident that SF is most interested in taking the path most beneficial to SF. I will be taking my business elsewhere and encourage anyone taking the time to read this to do the same. It will save you significant frustration and time if you dodge this bullet!
