I called him to let him know all the errors they made and not even a min into the conversations he gets all mad and angry making all these excuse of why things are the way they are. lets just so its so bad that all my books for 2017 need to be redone by a more competent person. So Purdy Powers & Company I would really consider on keeping Dave Gowen as it is end of tax season and I am sure more of his great work will come out and make you look bad. thank you Tim Gaudet

When we relocated our business from Chicago to Portland, Maine in 1996, we were concerned we…read morewouldn't be able to find a local accounting firm with the kind of big-city wherewithal which we were accustomed to receive. That concern unfortunately proved to be true. So in 2000, when we were frustrated to a point where we needed to find one more CPA company, we were introduced to Purdy Powers. From Day One with our new accounting partner, our outlook regarding that genre changed. We experienced what "personalized service" really means. Co-owner Marc Powers has continually been our go-to-guy, now for more than a decade, even though his business has continually grown while we've had to downsize. Marc and his people don't just file taxes for us and pontificate about what must be done to deal with today's ever-changing tax laws and demands. They totally watch out for us. On a number of occasions during our first few years with Purdy Powers, Marc found that our previous accounting firm did not arrange for us to get tax returns which we deserved. Via his team's diligent efforts, we were able to request and quickly receive sizable federal and state returns from previous years' filings. I could say more about our accounting firm, but rather, simply suggest that if you are looking for a proactive team of professional accounting/tax experts who work hard to protect your firm's best interests, look no farther than Purdy Powers. I believe you'll be very pleased with their overall approach... and even more, with the positive results you'll experience by working with Marc's team. Ron Treister Communicators International, Inc.

Few things frighten me as much as taxes do. Not only am I positive the government is out to get me,…read morebut I'm pretty terrible at math (I only got points on my SAT because I spelled my name right; that's just how embarrassingly bad I am with all-things-number-related). I also have a moderate distrust in technology. So, the idea of number crunching for Uncle Sam on a website makes me want to curl up in a ball and weep like a girlchild. Enter Glenn Morin. I met Glenn while working as a Heineken model. I was schlepping beer and schwag at a local bar where he and his friends were drinking. I have no idea how the topic of taxes came up, but his friends assured me that he was the best CPA in the kingdom of Portland. Conveniently, I was in desperate need for a "tax guy" (PRO TIP: every gal oughta have a good tax guy, tattoo artist, car mechanic, and insurance agent) because of all the freelance work I was doing. I think Glenn initially thought I was all talk when I told him that I was interested in hiring him (sometimes it's difficult to take a scantily glad beer girl seriously, I know). A decade later and guess who's done my taxes (which have gotten increasingly more complicated) every year since that fateful meeting in a bar? Mhmm, Mr. Glenn Morin. Could I do my taxes on my own? Maybe. Do I want to? No. Not ever. I don't know what a typical accountant costs, but Glenn charges an extremely competitive rate - and he's worth absolutely every penny. I have sent multiple people his way because of his honesty, trustworthiness, quality of work, the skill set he possesses (which I sooooooo don't), and impressive knowledge base. I love the efficiency in which he gets my taxes done, and - even more than that - I appreciate that I can call him any time of day throughout the year (not just during January to March) with any questions I might have (once I called him just to ask about the noise level on the street he lived on). Seriously, you just don't find that kind of personal one-on-one anymore, but with Glenn you definitely do! He takes the "scary" away from tax season!
