We started looking at various companies before the peak time hit and received quotes from three places. Artisan came in with an extremely competitive price and I'm not going to lie, it made me a little nervous. I had read the reviews for Artisan on Yelp so I reached out to a couple of my fellow Yelpers to ask them about their satisfaction with the company. I knew they wouldn't fail me and of course, they didn't. We chose to go with Artisan and we were able to get scheduled surprisingly fast. Unfortunately, the day came and rain was in the forecast. When the two gentlemen showed up, they said they would only be able to do the indoor part of the work and would schedule to come back in the next day or two to finish. Thankfully, the weather held so they forged ahead and were able to get everything done. (Just in the nick of time too because the heavens opened up only minutes after they left!) The next few days were cool so we weren't able to test it out but then the heatwave hit and we were as cool as cucumbers! The gentlemen who came were extremely pleasant and they worked fast and efficiently. I was provided a quote on an AC unit that they recommended and the price was very competitive and based on the other positive reviews I decided to move ahead with the install. All throughout the process, the owner Eugene was very helpful and thorough in answering any questions that I had. The technicians that came over were also very helpful and answered any questions that I had. The AC unit was just installed today so I haven't had the opportunity to use it much, but based on the experience so far, I trust that I will be in good hands if there are any issues down the road. He contacted about the A/C job asking if I would like a heat pump instead trying to up sell right from the start. I told him the 75 gallon water heater had to be done first. He asked if he can quote. He wouldn't register or do a site visit to see what either job entailed and kept messaging over and over. He kept going over the details so he was trying to estimate and I repeatedly gave him the same info. He asked why the venting supplied by Rheem with the tank was not white PVC and didn't understand. I had to explain to him the venting requirements had changed about 7 years ago on 75 gallon tanks due to higher temperatures. I had to tell him repeatedly I had all the materials to install. I gave him photos of everything to see it was straight forward. Job with less than 8 feet of venting that I was supplying. He said he would complete the job and bill me later and include any incurred expenses . I told him I do not proceed with any job without a contract with upfront firm pricing and any terms.. Then he asked again if they were providing the materials. He had the photo showing all the materials I had and again I told him I had all the materials. He then asked about me to a heat pump and I said if I wanted a heat pump it would have been stated in the job details I told them that them we had a high efficiency 2 stage furnace and my heating costs were under $900.00 per season keeping the thermostat at a constant 75 F. Our house is 3300 sq. ft. and Enbridge shows our house more efficient than 96% of the houses in our area which includes many of them with heat pumps. That was the end of dealing with them for both the water heater and the A/C when I requested a particular York Affinity model and he quoted on a different model. The most frustrating experience I have ever had just for an estimate.

They said that there would be 250 dollars for diagnostics and I agreed. They came and concluded that the pressure from the pump was not sufficient and it needed to be changed.I agreed and paid 1146 dollars fo the pump. But the problem was not fixed.I calked them again. They came again and spent much time waiting on the phone for Navien to support them. Then they said there was a problem with the ignition module and replaced it and-still no solution .Then they visited again, and this time, they told me that venturi needed to be changed and billed me 9 hours of work at 125 dollars per hour.But my unit is still not working. I asked to cancel the invoice because I have no control over the number of hours, and also,although I had to pay for several parts and labour, the unit is not working.I have been waiting to hear about the cancellation of the invoice, but there has been no response yet.I don't recommend these people .Tehy can not solve the problem, but still,they bill you for many hours. This week, another technician who repaired the stove pointed out that a plate was not covering the electrical wiring behind the stove's kick plate. So, for four years, my family and I were using a GAS stove with exposed wiring just behind the kick plate. The owner came by today with a "colleague" to "investigate." His colleague admitted that a plate should cover the exposed wiring. Rather than admit this grievous oversight, the owner offered up this absurd explanation: Someone else removed the plate in the four years since the original installation. No one removed the plate. No one. Why would anyone do that? He also claims that he installed a shut off valve. I have asked the TSSA to launch an investigation. Save yourself the risk and trouble my family has unknowingly endured for four years. I urge you to choose another contractor. The owner will no doubt respond to this warning with denials and accusations. You can believe him if you want to but, if you do, you will regret it.
