Came here first time for a free fishing clinic organized by NY Dept of Environmental Conservation…read more Baisley pond is located in the park. Easy parking. Parking lot holds about 20-30 cars. A high school is across the street. Fish species include carp, bass, bluegill etc. my kids got all bluegills. I saw another person got a small bass. Catch and release only. We also saw turtles, dragonflies, seagulls and ducks. It was relaxing to fish while admiring the scenery. One star off is because of overgrown of vegetation ( seaweeds). Our fish line got caught quite often. While it is nobody's fault and it is nature afterall, it takes away a small part of fishing experience.

There's parking available upon arrival. There's seating alongside the body of water. There's various activities available to do here including walking, taking a seat to overlook the water or people-watch, picnic, BBQ or grill, fishing, and running or jogging. The captain makes sure everyone has the best chance to find fish while the deckhands seem to enjoy some unspoken battle amongst themselves to see who can be the most helpful! You will never go without bait. Rods & reels provided for the whole family. Even if you bring your own gear, they have it so dialed in from the rod size to the reel capacity to the line diameter to the oz & hook sizes! Respectfully leave your gear home. It's worth the $5-$10 to let them do it. Then after you fill your cooler, they gladly clean your catch to your liking (dressed or filleted)

Come with an open mind…read more.. I arrived early in the morning to check out the Boatel. First of all, I've never been in this part of Qns before! But, it was gorgeous. The guys at the gas station told us that if we hung out by the gates, someone would open up for us to drive in... a little odd, but it worked. No one asked us any questions.. we just sauntered in, wandered around, got invited onto a house barge (AMAZING, I want to live on one!), and overall get very jealous at the itinerant lifestyle. The boatel wasn't anything to write home about, but I really enjoyed the experience of wandering around, sitting on the docks, and just enjoying the view, sun, quiet, and the company.

Other than this despite not catching anything (seemed slow all around) the trip would have been fine. We had a 5 hour ride I assume trying to find fish but a group of friends in front of us kept smoking cigarettes like clock work. It was disgusting to keep inhaling smoke for those 5 hours. I wish people were more mindful of others (also, my niece who is a child was to my left inhaling all that crap). My sister took a trip before and said that wasn't as bad on her trip. Maybe it was just my unlucky trip, but I just can't recommend it knowing I would pay $70 to be in what felt like the club and not fishing. To the captain: You do have a big boat! I would have moved if there was enough space as you saw there was quite a bit of people last night. I also came with my family and it was a group of us. Again, I wrote this to let others know. My sister still enjoyed and will be back. Best, Diana
