This is an update to my previous review of a year ago. I still very much like Gymit and the price you really can't beat. But... I've got a few gripes...Some fixable, within their control, some not so much. Within Gymit's control: I used to like to go to the gym during the week, in the morning before work (as it has just become too busy at night). However, there have been several times the gym did not open on time. I have an early work schedule so I rely on the gym opening at the posted hours (to the best of their abilities). I realize there will be times that it won't due to holidays and extenuating circumstances or planned posted delays. For unanticipated delayed openings, I'm usually pretty tolerant. A few minutes isn't a big deal. However, there have been several occasions that it was far beyond a few minutes. I do make it a point to check the FB page for delayed openings first. Also, 5:00 AM, it's still dark, those utilizing the garage and standing at the entrance door waiting to be let in (not many at the garage at that hour), only to watch the person let members in from the Comm Ave side and forget to open the garage side. I had to pound on the door until she eventually heard (almost 10 minutes later). I think the garage side entrance should be opened first due to safety, just my two cents. Luckily, the person that did this is not working at this location anymore. Overall, they seem to favor opening the Comm Ave entrance first, at least during the week I'm assuming because it's the main entrance. If I could find parking at the main entrance I would definitely do that, but many times, it's difficult to find a space. The weekend openers are fantastic, particularly the Sunday opener. She's prompt, courteous and very helpful. Another issue I have to bring up AGAIN, please keep your paper towels/cleaning fluid adequately stocked as this is still an issue. I do appreciate that Gymit's manager, Matt always reacts positively to member concerns and actively tries to resolve issues and do better, you don't get this type of customer service at many other places. Now for the things that Gymit cannot control. Members lack of courtesy. I didn't realize that some members think they can reserve machines, or multiple machines at the same time. I completely understand that sometimes people like to rotate sets between 2 machines. However, you can't tell someone you have one more set on a machine when you are still doing sets on another machine, then proceed to get up and take control of the machine that I was going to use and be surprised by my not so nice reaction. You came bolting over to explain your situation, I didn't want to hear it! It's selfish and ignorant of you to think you can do this and then address me as "honey". I've done those types of sets rotating between machines, but have never expected that the other machine would still be available upon returning for a set. I am fully aware that at any point, if I'm not on a machine, another member is entitled to use it, period! Also, people still don't wipe the machines down and I really don't understand this at all. I'm appalled at how often this happens. I am seriously thinking of canceling the membership due to lack of convenience from a location/parking standpoint, tardy openings and busyness of the gym at afterwork hours, since going before work has proved challenging. read more
