I am extremely disappointed with my experience at South Bay Pediatric Dental Group (Eastlake),…read morespecifically with Dr. Todd Pacofsky. I brought my daughter in for what was supposed to be a routine cleaning. I was asked to sign a form beforehand that was presented as standard for the visit, but it now appears it may have been used as broad consent for additional procedures. After the cleaning, Dr. Pacofsky told me my daughter had no cavities and that her teeth were healthy. The only recommendation discussed with me was sealants, which I agreed to. Before any work was done, I confirmed with the front desk that there would be no cost associated with the sealants. At no point was I informed of any other procedures or asked to consent to anything beyond that. Later, I received a bill showing that additional procedures--resin composite fillings--had been performed on two of my daughter's teeth. I never authorized this treatment, and it was never discussed with me. This is especially concerning since I was explicitly told my daughter had no decay. When I followed up with Dr. Pacofsky, he acknowledged that the work was done for staining, not cavities, and admitted that this was not clearly communicated or documented ahead of time. He also stated that resin composite was billed because there is no billing code for "preventive resin," despite the significant difference in how such procedures are processed by insurance. As a result, my insurance was billed for a procedure typically used to treat decay--something my daughter did not have--which raises serious concerns about overbilling and billing practices. I was also told by Dentist Todd that the front desk was unaware of the additional procedure because it had not been annotated in his notes. Despite being told the charges would be removed by Dentist Todd, I have yet to receive confirmation or resolution. As a parent, I expect clear communication and the opportunity to give informed consent before any procedure is performed on my child. That did not happen here. I would strongly advise other parents to avoid this dental office or make sure to ask detailed questions, request clear treatment plans in writing, and ensure they fully understand and approve any procedures before treatment begins.

I asked the receptionist how they would approach my son now that he was so traumatized by how the last clinic treated him, and I felt reassured in my son being able to find joy again at the dentist with how she walked me through their approach. So confident that I think our first visit was just a few days after the traumatizing visit at the other practice. We did some acclimation visits which were ALL on happy notes. Now, my son happily goes to the chair on his own, is not afraid of any instruments, giggles and chats with the hygienists and techs - and it only took just a few visits. His first visit was in January. Second was in February and he was still getting warmed up. I think it was his 3rd visit in March that really got the ball rolling. I don't remember how many in total he has been to between March and now May m, but I will say that it has been a complete night and day transformation. He is so receptive to trying new things at the dentist now. The staff really knows how to be personable with kids instead of rushing them. I have already recommended this practice to all my mom friends because of how much faith I have in this team in repairing my son's relationship with dental professionals.

They have outstanding imaging software so you can see everything in high definition color. If you are thinking about driving to Mexico to get dental work done, just do it. My son broke off a part of his molar, after the x-rays they said had one cavity and needed a stainless steel crown and pulpotomy for the broken tooth. I was scared and worried. I research and investigated everything about crowns and alternatives, turns out, crowns are the best option, but still felt the need to discuss to the doctor about saving his tooth and doing a filling. The hygienists gave me affirmation that Dr. Whitcomb always does what is best and is conservative by doing the least amount of work and only does what is absolutely needed. Still apprehensive, I at least had that trust walking out of the office. After my sons procedure they let me know they were able to save the broken molar and no steel crown or pulpotomy was needed just a good filling. I literally wanted to cry I was so happy, I hugged and thanked everyone. So that saved me $380 and most importantly my sons beautiful tooth!!! This was my sons first dentist experience and not once was he scared, he actually liked it a lot! I would recommend them to everyone young or mature and will continue to only go there from now on. After over 5 years of trusting this office to have my teeth straightened I regret ever walking in…read moreto this place. I went in to Dr. Surrillos to have my teeth and my daughters teeth straightened. After 2 years my teeth looked fantastic, yet I was told to keep coming to get the front aligned, turn, a tooth, a make room for my implant. I trusted them and did so. Then in the 2 nd year and after I had already paid them off before the 3 year, my bottom teeth began to noticeably shift higher and higher making them look completely side ways. Each time anything has happened, I had to tell them about it, otherwise they wouldn't do anything. As was the case with this. Years went by and they never addressed the issue. Eventually I asked them how much longer is this going to be it had already been 5 1/2 years and my bottom teeth were now completely misaligned. They all of a sudden changed everything around super fast and then ruined my top teeth by pulling them out and over the flared bottom teeth, flaring them and ruining how straight they had been. The canines also got pulled out of alignment and the midline also ended up being completely off center, there are spaces between my teeth that show black behind and get food stuck because the teeth are not aligned and lastly I don't have room for my implant and now I have to get braces again. He refunded my payment, however it is not enough to fix them now and does not begin to cover the 5 1/2 years I had to wear braces and the emotional damage I have experienced since they were removed. I was 34 when I got them and 39 when they were removed and you'd never think I had braces. I truly wish I would have never gone here. I would not recommend or go here ever again. Although they are all very nice, It is churn and burn and your kids wouldn't be able to speak out about it. My daughter's front teeth are not as aligned and her front tooth is already shifting back, with restrainer wear. Please review the photo attached. The bottom photos are what I now need to go to an orthodontist to fix. They are FLARED, misaligned and my bite is so off it hurts, I have gaps on the tops next to the gums and I can barley close my mouth over my teeth with out effort. DONT GO HERE.
