I take a bundle of books about 10 at a time and I get more reading matter for free about 5 books. Any books they don't take in I give to a Charity shop. Very useful for me clearing my clutter AND I get something back but less. If you can't resist buying new books they have a good selection and there are a few gems to be found. If you like books shops then this is a very good place to visit and I bet you don't come away empty handed. A charity shop in Dalkey might be a good idea though.

Because there's nothing like bringing a stack of books in and leaving with an entirely new set. And it's not like a library book where you have to remember to bring them back either (which is where I have a tendency to fall down, I admit)...they're yours to keep, for as long as you wish! Now who doesn't like that?! The Exchange Bookshop is like that, though they are discerning with regards to what books they will and will not accept. However, they will pay for them if they feel they're worth an investment. And as a result it's a truly pleasurable experience browsing the shelves, as you happen upon titles that you may never otherwise see. And it's not like a charity bookshop where you're basically left with the dregs of what people just plain don't want to keep but feel like an ego boost. The owner's penchant for quality means that you're guaranteed a nice hoard by the end of your visit. Happy days

This is three stories of books and it is worth taking a slow walk through! The books are new-book prices so they are a bit expensive but just seeing the huge selection of books and the huge store is enough. I ended up getting one book as a gift for a friend and a Hodges Figgis tote bag for myself. The people working here are friendly and knowledgeable. There is always someone around if you have any questions.

Fair play to Village Books for trying to diversify Irish readers' tastes. There is a fairly large selection of cards in store, of varying qualities, but definitely something here to suit all tastes. The children's and teenagers' book sections are quite extensive and there is also a considerable selection of fantasy books. Village books has quite an array of children's toys as well, so I imagine this would provide an excellent means of distraction for kids who are dragged here by their desperate-for-a-good-read mothers. Village Books has a pleasant, unassuming atmosphere and browsing is not frowned upon.

As newsagents come... This place is great. Friendly staff always there to greet you :-)…read more Great shop on the Main Street, it's perfectly stocked with all the on-the-go stuff you need... Whether it be drinks, sweets, crisps to satisfy or you need some practical stuff like magazines, books, stationary supplies, greeting cards, wrapping paper, etc. Also as a newsagents they stock smokes, cigars plus national lottery ticket sales. Why 5 stars for a newsagents? I often take my niece and nephew overnight and the following morning if they've been good, whilst out and about we always finish up here and they pick out something from the little toy/gift area (wins me some awesome auntie points), the staff are always so friendly with the kids and patient. The kids like to pay the man by themselves and I love that they never rush the kids, they often comment on their toy and share a smile so this, ye know what, is just so hard to come by these days. Just another shop in our small village working hard to keep up community spirit :-)
