This is three stories of books and it is worth taking a slow walk through! The books are new-book prices so they are a bit expensive but just seeing the huge selection of books and the huge store is enough. I ended up getting one book as a gift for a friend and a Hodges Figgis tote bag for myself. The people working here are friendly and knowledgeable. There is always someone around if you have any questions.

The bookshop itself is a book lovers haven with a great mix of books ranging from present day best sellers to beautiful antiquity books. The bookshop also has various ephemera - I spotted cool postcards, an original painting by Dali and tons of autographed letters, books and what really rocked my world was when John showed me a book that belonged in Florence Nightingale's library AND had her handwritten annotations! It's honestly just a beautiful jewel of a treasure shop and looks can be deceiving as the modern exterior hides a lovely collection of rare books, signed firsts as well as books from the time of Shakespeare. Everything was very appropriately priced and I picked up two books that were published in the 1960s (dealing with 'Modern Women' for a very reasonable price). As we walked by, we saw a sign that said, "Secret Book & Record Store", with an arrow pointing into a deep narrow hallway with posters of advertisements covering the walls. These places are the great finds in Dublin. At the end of the hall was a large room filled with used books, vintage vinyl & new releases including CDs. The store was a frezy of customers flipping through the bins of vinyl to find that one great band from their past. I did find a few old 80s punk albums but still on a quest today to find an original GBH or Exploited cover.

I eventually discovered its existence on the recommendation of a friend, so I took myself along one day to get the 411, as it were. And I haven't looked back since. The Secret Book & Record Store is how you would make a shop of this type look like if you were making a film about a cool shopkeeper and the problems he has with his idiosyncratic love life (whoops, just checked IMDB and 'High Fidelity' has already been made. Ah pooh). If you have a particular book in mind and think you might go to SB&RS on the off-chance that they might have it: don't. This one is strictly for the rummagers, but a rummagers dream it certainly is, with piles of books stacked any oul' way. I don't go in for records much meself but they have them too. Tip-top shop.

Quality bookstore in a cute street in Malahide. I was rather impressed with the selection of books…read more- the ones at eye level were interesting and quirky and not like the usual book shop fare. Fair play to Village Books for trying to diversify Irish readers' tastes. There is a fairly large selection of cards in store, of varying qualities, but definitely something here to suit all tastes. The children's and teenagers' book sections are quite extensive and there is also a considerable selection of fantasy books. Village books has quite an array of children's toys as well, so I imagine this would provide an excellent means of distraction for kids who are dragged here by their desperate-for-a-good-read mothers. Village Books has a pleasant, unassuming atmosphere and browsing is not frowned upon.

He is an expert on all things Tara and we had the pleasure of watching a slide show presented by him and he sang us an old Irish song! You can find all sorts of classic books in this shop with specialties including history of Ireland books, Irish poets, and of course Michael Slavin's own books that he will sign for you! This book shop is located right on the Hill of Tara so you can walk right out to the hill after hearing all about it from Mr. Slavin. This was truly a wonderful experience and I'm so glad little book shops like this still exist!

Went in here about a month ago it was 2 days before my holidays…read morejust to see if they did shellac nails, A women looked threw the appointment book and said they could fit me in, One women brought me down to the room where she filed and cleaned nails and she put a clear coat over them i was then moved to another table, as soon as i sat down the other women asked me if i had touched anything as there was all fluff stuck to my nails i said no because i didnt think i had then she started accusing me of putting my hands on my leggings and started to paint over my nails and said its going to be all fluffy when its done she done one coat of the shellac and was complaining that she did not have time to fix my nails as i was just a walk in and i told her that she did not have to take me in if she couldnt do the job right at this point she was trying to pick fluff off and was being rude and threw the brush she had on to table where it then fell onto the ground so i told her i did not want my nails done as i was not paying 25-30 euro for fluffy nails so i walked out of the salon with one coat of shellac on and fluff all over my nails. I then rang a place in navan to see if they could fix them and they said come in straight away, as the women in navan was doing my nails she showed me how easy it is to get a cotton pad and whip the fluff off and started to repaint, dont no why the women in the beauty clinic found the need to be so rude to a paying customer that walks in off the street alot of people dont make appointments and get there treatments done professionally this was not professional what happened that day and im sorry i did not ask for a manager as i was so angry because of how rude she was to me and i just left.
