Just 12 miles from Snowshoe on the way North on Highway 28. A quick place to get some gas. Refreshments, convenience items and West Virginia necessities, jams, jellies etc. What really earned my respect for these folk was their actions during the Derecho storm last July that left most of West Virginia in shambles for a week. With no gasoline literally within a hundred mile radius of Snowshoe, Henry opened up, powered by a borrowed generator and didn't even raise their gas prices, allowing travelers and residents to fill up and get to where they needed to go. Civic duty galore. Place is totally friendly.

To use the word disappointed with this "convenience" store is an understatement. Also, it didn't hurt to make a pitstop inside. Gas prices were on average with other nearby stations in the area. Paying at pump was where to be. Inside I made quick usage of the facilities and wanted to grab myself some drinks for the remainder of the trip. I would have used the self checkouts but I needed items from behind the counter. The line went smoothly and the employees were pleasant to deal with. Overall a decent stop at a busy location.

The store was very clean and well-organized with different sections for everything. Merchandise neatly stacked, displayed, and folded. Food labeled with ingredients - noted I did pick up a fried chicken sandwich (seemed popular) and I will note in the display picture I saw a sauce on it that I pointed out to my partner as I wasn't sure what it was (he thought it was mayo/ I thought cheese and it ended up being a sauce) There wasn't a label on the display from what it was that I could see. It may have been my poor eyesight and will note they DID list all the packaging ingredients on the wrapper for food allergy in a big paragraph. But if you're a picky eater like me and want a brief restaurant-style menu item recap, I would be prepared to ask an employee. Fresh food was neatly packaged and hot food was hot. Beverage/ coffee areas were tidy and labeled. Buc-ee's is known for its bathrooms(according to Wikipedia), and this location definitely lived up to that culture. Lots of stalls and stocked bathroom areas. Parking was plentiful, with clear traffic signals and directions. Shopping carts were stored near the front doors if you wanted to grab one. I don't think I saw any places outside to return the cart so looked like you would have to keep it inside or wheel back to store if you wanted to drop off items to car. Areas for pets to take a break and smoker area were marked and looked well maintained. Despite the store being quite busy when we visited, the employees were friendly and mindful. Staff members were courteous and never seemed to be rushing or shoving past/around customers while in a hurry to complete their tasks. Some of staff were wheeling around things like carts full of products/ holding boxes, and I never felt like I would get bumped into by them. We had a positive experience asking for food samples and ordering items from behind the counter. We checked out at two different entrances as we made two trips. During checkout, I asked one employee even about the chanting and they took the time to enthusiastically explain what the chefs were chanting and shared a bit about the company culture, which explained yelling for fresh-goods. The only minor issue I encountered was when purchasing glassware. The cashier initially tried to place a Shotglass in a plastic bag with several other regular normal items, and I had to ask for additional wrapping to help protect it. He then wrapped it in an extra plastic bag. Would've been nice to have paper or something at the register to wrap it safely. Without the extra padding, it likely would have broken during the drive home. It's also a hazard if it's dropped in the parking lot, gas station areas or honestly anywhere on the premises. So that's why I'm giving 4 stars today. Otherwise, they very charming and smiling - great customer service at the very front entrance to come in. Overall, we had a very good experience and want to stop again at this gas station during our road trips if we are in area.

It is one of the very few gas stations (Exxon) in the area, and the closest one to Snowshoe within a 15 miles. In addition, it sells Blue Rhino propane gas for the gazillion home owners in the sprawling Snowshoe resort. However, compared to the Market at Big Springs, it falls short quite substantially. This is a step well below a 7-11, and its offerings have not adapted themselves to the upscale clientele at Snowshoe but instead, cover the needs of a more proletarian customer base which is a bit dissonant in a major ski resort. Gone are the specialty items, the jams and desserts, the imported hams, the prime cuts of beef, and innumerable other items. Instead, the customer is treated to slurpie machines and mediocre canned goods. I would be awarding it two or perhaps one star were it not for the large specialty beer selection in the huge walk-in refrigerated area. They actually have a fairly large selection of micro brews and specialty beers. That is the saving grace of this store... About the only place to shop in the dead seasons between ski and cycling...

FYI: This is one of the only places in the area to get gas that is usually open when you need it. Thank you because I forget to get gas in Elkins and everyone else was closed. Yikes! Every time I am here I enjoy eating their food whether from the store or the restaurant up stairs, I love looking around at all the cool stuff they have for sale, I am always buying this or that, and I truly enjoy sparking up a convo with one of the owners or employees. They also offered a good price for unleaded gas, $2.87/gallon, which was lower than "back home." Access is easier if you're coming out of Massanutten, rather than going in. This is a popular gas station, and the pumps do get busy. Note, however, upon traveling just a few miles down Spotswood Trail/Rte. 33, we found both BP and Wawa gas stations near Elkton offering unleaded gas for $2.57/gallon.
