Worth a detour. Get of the beaten track and visit Gustav for a Veggie trip. Solid portions and nice service.

I was craving pizza and I looked at every pizza place within a mile, not seeing much that sounded promising. Decided to try Organic since its reviews were very good. It was only two blocks away, so we strolled down to this tiny place. It's a one-man show with a very friendly guy taking our order, serving us food and drink, and presenting the check. Pizza is very thin, but absolutely delicious! My wife rarely finished a whole pizza in one sitting, but this one was just the right size and so tasty we couldn't leave any behind. It's a charming, welcoming place, and its proprietor is a truly nice human being. HIGHLY recommended!

The atmosphere of the resturant was very groovy and ecentric. As well as, very clean. However the food was not great.. at all. They were plated very well but the chili was acidic and a lot of sour cream, which made the bowl gooey. The Gado gado sauce, which we thought was peanut sauce, was a weird and sweet consistency. We added a plethora of spices and still it did not change much. In addition, our food was sitting at the counter for awhile because we were told they would call our number, so it was also a little cold. However the water was free, which is something rare for europe. Personally I would not return.

We discovered it in a pamphlet on a bulletin board in a hostel that we stayed in. A "build your own" kind of place, you are able to custom order curries and salads. We ate here twice- I had a spicy peanut curry with rice and veggies one day and a salad with lots of bean, seed, and nut fixins another day. Both were very filling! I saw at least two locations of my Indigo- both near the center of Salzburg. One has dine-in seating, the other does not. As in America, getting avocado is extra- but it is a big portion, so its worth the extra $ if you're on the fence ;) Definitely a great option for travelers on a budget looking for healthy food options!

And drink, of course. Gablerbräu wasn't technically open when we stopped in (about five minutes before their official open time), but the awesome waiter at the door invited us in from the cold, and told us to grab a table at the dining room in the back. Once settled, he came back to our table to offer menus and get our beer orders. I went with a Gösser Märzen, and my husband ordered their Hausbier. After a bit of menu perusing, we both decided to go for their Schnitzel. The scents coming from the kitchen as we sat there, sipping our beers (the Märzen initially disappointed based on the color alone, but I did enjoy the malty flavor and the hint of a hoppy bite) got my stomach grumbling. I don't know what they were cooking up, but the scents of roasted meat, fresh bread, garlic and spices had me practically drooling in expectation. The schnitzel did not disappoint, though I do wish I'd chosen another dish - only because I now wish we had sampled more than one of their offerings. The breading on the schnitzel was crisp, never got soggy, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The potatoes were buttery, and the tart bite provided by the cranberry-like sauce added another nice layer. We finished our meal with a second pint (I went with the Hausbier for my second round, following my husband's glowing review of it. I did enjoy it - it had an unexpected dark flavor and a bit of hoppiness) and a lot of fun conversation with our waiter. This was one spot we considered revisiting before leaving Salzburg, but the timing didn't work out (the next day was Christmas Eve, and they were closed up through the 26th). Still, as I mentioned above, it set the tone for all the wonderful food and beverage we consumed, as well as the friendly and accommodating service we received. Highly recommended!
