Pleasantly surprised with this spot for breakfast our sole morning in Salzburg. I found it on Yelp and we loved the contemporary decor inside. We sat immediately at the bar and ordered coffees and drinks. We chose to order from their new May menu items (it was May 1st) so they had just turned over for the month and were featuring three new seasonal items. We went with their seasonal take on eggs benedict featuring asparagus with hollandaise and a sweet strawberry tart on the side and cucumber juice. It was fresh and light but we actually preferred the other benedict more, see below. Through a mistake in the kitchen, we were actually brought the traditional eggs benedict first, which we loved, and then brought what we ordered. It did take over an hour to eat because of the mix-up which cut into the last of our time there (I had several things to try to see) so that was a bummer, but our server was so friendly and welcoming and the coffee was so good, that we didn't mind! Pricey, although the accident was free, with our two entrees and two coffees and a soda, the meal was $50.
Today I tried the Monthly Breakfast Special! Delicious blend of avocado toast, greens, fruits, and caramelized onions over rye bread. Accompanied by passion fruit, strawberries and merengue on the side. Delicious and beautifully plated! The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is bright, airy, and chic! Excellent breakfast, brunch, or coffee shop choice for anyone in Salzburg.
What a perfect find for our last day in Salzburg! It was another cold and rainy day when we set out in search of a hearty breakfast to see us through the day. After a short walk to 220grad, we stepped in to a cafe bustling with people and conversation. We were greeted at the door by a kind gentleman, who asked us to wait a bit for a table to free up. He then offered us a couple glasses of water, and a short while later, led us to a tiny pre-seating area, where we could rest and review the menu while waiting to be seated. The table we were shown to a short while later was by the door, but it was still very comfortable. We'd had a chance to review the menu while hanging out at the pre-seating area (a place where they took several couples while we were dining), so we knew what we wanted to order. We both went with the "Breakfast in December", a plate with eggs, bread, ham, figs and a cream cake in a glass jar. That is, of course, a terrible way of describing what we actually got. Okay - let me give the description they had on their menu. "Herbal scrambled eggs with homemade onion-bacon-bread, wild boar loin ham from the region of Waldviertel, butter, served with a festive slice of cream cake in a glass, with chestnuts and sour cherries." Much nicer when they say it, no? The meal also came with a choice of hot beverage - I got a latte, and my husband got a drip coffee. I absolutely loved the feel of this restaurant - it was cozy and vibrant, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The gentleman that originally greeted us made it a point to visit every party while also manning the front door and the cafe's to-go coffee business. The wait staff were attentive and patient, and super efficient at what they were doing. The food, when it was set before us, made us both afraid we'd walk out still hungry. We couldn't have been more wrong! Though it looked like a light meal, it was exactly the hearty breakfast we had sought. The eggs were perfectly fluffy and flavored with fresh herbs. The bread was soft and chewy, and the whipped butter melted perfectly into the crevices of the loaf. The ham had a nice bite to it - shaved thin, it reminded me of prosciutto, but with a much milder flavor. We were served a roasted tomato, which went perfectly with the eggs, and a fig slice, which I surprisingly enjoyed. I initially thought the cake in the glass was a gimmick, but it turned out to be my favorite thing. I wanted to lick the jar! It was cream and crumbled flaky pastry served with fresh whipped cream and a couple more pieces of less-flaky pastry and the sour cherries. It was heaven in a jar. I really wish we had found this place earlier in our trip, because knowing us, we would have made it a "regular stop". Unfortunately, it was our last day in the city, so we were only able to experience the wonderful food and incredible staff once. We would absolutely go back the next time we visit the city, though!
Perhaps the best, most creative and unique breakfast we've ever had. Beautiful presentation. 2 eggs, cooked as requested, grilled veggies, strawberry jam, ham, avocado smash, oatmeal 2 diff kinds, cheese, a unique hummus, and beautiful garnishes- mint, roasted tomatoes, a cheese filled pepper, radishes, strawberries...it was just gorgeous. Served with bread assortment- croissant, brown bread, 2 soft pretzely breadsticks, a roll, and a braided poppy seed roll. It was just wonderful.
They have the best coffee in Salzburg if not all of Austria. These guys take coffee seriously. Their sandwiches and pastries are very tasty too. They have a decent amount of seating but when it gets busy, it can get a bit cosy. Service is great and they are very tourist-friendly. I highly recommend coming here for brunch or a coffee break.
I came in for a chai latte during lunchtime the atmosphere and the style of the restaurant was really nice and the food looked really good, but I only got the chai latte which was mediocre. It tasted very watery and didn't have too much cinnamon. There was also a man at the front selling newspapers so if you ever go to this restaurant, you could ignore him I thought you would have to pay him to get in, but it seems like he's just selling newspapers in the front which I thought was a bit odd read more
Best meal in Salzburg. Came for lunch and feasted on and incredible frothy iced cappuccino and ricotta ciabatta with pesto and fresh tomatoes. Also enjoyed the poppyseed raspberry cake for dessert. The whole atmosphere is like Miami meets Denmark - kind of loungey yet classy and pristine, with such warm people working here. A highlight of our trip. 5 stars!!!! read more

Amazing service , vibes , food and coffee. The egg brioche sandwiches (eggs Benedict) and the cappuccinos were flawless. To top it off , the price is reasonable which is hard to find now days especially when a place serves this type of quality. read more

One of the loveliest brunches I've had anywhere in the world. It was so good, we came back the very next day! I would return to Salzburg just to enjoy a leisurely brunch here again. Everything, from the tea to the croissants and homemade breads and omelettes, were incredible. read more

WOW!!!! What a great breakfast. Found this place on Yelp - but it's not easy to find the store - and found it full of locals. Service was great and the food even better. The outdoor tables had blankets for the patrons and the inside seating was warm. 3 English menus were available with a decent selection of choices. We had the scrambled eggs/ham and basil bread, the "breakfast in August" and a ham/cheese dish. All plates left the table empty and the tea/cappuccino and hot chocolate were delicious. Fresh squeezed OJ was also wonderful. You can't go wrong at this place! read more

Beautiful little cafe in Salzburg. The decor and graphic design was modern and stood out. The food was amazing. My dish the Grün Gelb Rot was delicious. Eggs were the perfect consistency and all the ingredients meshed well. The hot chocolate was great as well, seemed like a more mature hot chocolate than I expected. read more

I was here during a snowy October and was glad to have found such a great coffee house to keep the weather at bay. The cappuccino was fantastic. This is some seriously great coffee from people who clearly both know and enjoy what they're doing. I can't recall what I ate here though I do remember enjoying it as well... but the coffee and the people behind the counter lock in five stars. read more

Delightful little cafe that has wonderfully tasty brunch! This place is absolutely adorable from the cozies they put on their soft boiled eggs to the little tea pots. Its as good as any fancy brunch place in New York City. Their cappuccinos are delicious and theres everything you could want for breakfast there. As a none meat eater I was having a hard time eating in Austria but this place has food for vegetarians and meat eaters alike! My dad got the biggest order that included a wide assortments of meats, cheese, spreads, bread, etc. Their muesli is so yummy and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I even bought a bag of coffee as a souvenir to give to a friend at home! read more
***** 5 stars indeed! 220GRAD is basically a breakfast & brunch restaurant built around a coffee house business model. 220GRAD opens at 9am and closes by 6pm. Seating is available both inside and outside. Even though there is usually a line of customers waiting to be seated, you can order carry out. The street cafe vibe is really cool and the service was very good. Just ask for the wifi password... Our pre-vacation research led us to 220GRAD. We were lucky enough to have it right around the corner from our Salzburg hotel. I ordered the "breakfast in" plate from the menu which consisted of scrambled eggs with chanterelle mushrooms, homemade rye bread, zucchini cream cheese spread, fresh fruit salad with a choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. I decided to up-charge to a cappuccino. The food came on a rectangular piece of slate with beautifully placed garnishes. So the visual presentation was amazing! The aroma of the food was mouthwatering. The chanterelle scrambled eggs were topped with arugula and an edible flower. I was in egg-topia heaven! The two rye bread rolls were piping hot and when topped with the zucchini cream cheese spread was amazingly delicious. The fruit salad is a perfect blend of sweet and slightly sour (cranberries) which playfully teases the palate. Lastly the cappuccino was excellent! read more
Such a cute little spot just out of the hustle and bustle of old town Salzburg. This was probably our favorite coffee shop during our trip to Germany and Austria (coffee shop meaning third-wave roastery with pour-overs and such). The staff was super friendly, the menu was offered in English, and the environment was just adorable, with lots of varied seating outside and inside. In addition to their coffee, they also had a variety of non-caffeinated beverages, which I enjoyed. They also offered infused water for free. Their food is really simple but it was nice to get a break from some of the heavier German cuisine, so we got some salad and sandwiches with veggies and cheese. The bathrooms are also super modern and clean! read more

I'm living in Germany for the time being and decided to take a weekend trip to Salzburg. I used Yelp to find a place for brunch and was so excited to come across 220grad! I meandered over around 10:15-10:30 and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get an outdoor seating spot. The salmon pesto bread dish I had was beautifully presented and tasted fresh. Service was kind and accepting of my not-so-fantastic German. I liked it so much I went back the next day (Sunday) and discovered they're closed. Makes me look forward to another trip! read more

According to Trip Advisor, this is the number one restaurant in Salzburg and I honestly have no idea how this is possible. Don't get me wrong, it's a cute little cafe but it literally offers 6 dishes. I split a couple of the daily cakes. They are beautifully presented. However, besides the flower petals that adorn the cake, there was nothing special about them. People at my table described the taste as "goo" and "Thanksgiving turkey." I thought they tasted better than that but the overall consensus was that it was underwhelming and we could not fathom how this could even make the list of top 25 restaurants to eat at in Salzburg. read more

Delightful brunch cafe with a reverence for good coffee. I had the Maxi breakfast and it's as wonderful as all the reviews say; beautifully presented and everything tastes perfect. Also, the cafe is quite small, but they were quick. We arrived when it was fully packed and there were two couples in front of us, we were still seated within fifteen minutes due to their efficient service. At the end of our meal I purchased 500g of their "Selektion 1" coffee blend, I'll update later once I try it at home. read more
PERFECT is a good word to describe this place, as this was by far the BEST breakfast i have ever had. Great Place Great Location Great food Great staff Great Atmosphere Great prices. What more can you ask for. It is easy to see why Trip Adviser rates this place as the NUMBER ONE restaurant in Salzsburg. I've been coming here since years and although I was a little disappointed upon my last visit, it's still one of the best places to get coffee at when you're in salzburg (if not the best one) So what bugged me on my last visit: could it be that the breakfast itself got smaller and more expensive? Although that's kind of normal it still kinda disappointed me but well, it was still very good. What sets 220grad apart from most places is their outstanding quality of food! Everything is either freshly made there or from local organic sellers. Did I also mention that they roast their own coffee? And lemme tell ya it's da bomb, you can also buy some to take home. The service is outstanding as well, 220grad is a family-run business, everyone is super friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. You might not be able to get a table because the place is pretty small and well-known and they only take reservations for 9am. read more

Beautiful 3rd wave coffee shop with their in house roaster and a mini factory to pack their own coffee bags on site. I took a v60 El salvador single origin that was exquisite and a piece of Banana and chocolate cake that was delicious. Loved the coziness of the place that could have been in New York or Paris and the friendly staff that gives charm to the place. Very recommended! read more
