First time in Salzburg and found this restaurant : absolutely love it Delicious dishes with lots of grilled vegetables. The waiters are very friendly !

After so many wiener schnitzels, sausages, potatoes, dumplings and pretzels...you might need a break from the heavy Austrian diet and the constipation that goes with it. Plus the decor and ambiance here is groovy! Its so out there from the rest of Salzburg. Its a mostly younger local crowd; I think we might have been the only tourists in there. Staff is also friendly than your average Austrian. €5 Three kinds of dips (tomato-cashew, Baba Ganoush, zucchini cottage cheese) with flatbreads. Some good, some ok, but its a nice variety. € 6,20 Spelt Sandwich...healthy and tasty. € 14,70 Spare Ribs...its A LOT of delicious ribs. They've also got a nice selection of beer, wines, and tasty cocktails. Check it out!

Super chill and hip cafe. They have exotic meat (giraffe I think, among others) and great coffee and tea. You get to make and mix the tea yourself which is cool and its very relaxing. The setting is super cool and I wish there was a cafe similar to this where I live! If you visit Salzburg, you must stop by here!

Menu, I got the wrap and ended up only being able to eat half!

This place was such a good find!! The whole ambiance of the place was funky and fun! We came in to escape the rain when sightseeing and wound up having a delicious lunch. The wraps are HUGE. (I got the chicken and pineapple one). My friend got the fresh start with delicious eggs and this amazing walnut bread. The teas and coffee were not only satisfying but the presentation was adorable. You will enjoy!

This place is pretty funky for Salzburg and Austria. Take a look at the photos! You walk from the crisp reality of life in Salzburg to another world here. First thing that strikes you is the lighting - some might call it mood lighting. Personally I thought I'd stepped into a pink/orange wonderland jungle cafe. There is a menu which changes every day which was translated for us and a standard breakfast menu (before12) and lunch menu. This place opens till 12 so although we got here for lunch (mix of trendy locals, businessmen - who plan ahead and book their table- good idea, and tourist/travellers like me). Worth a visit for sure!

Waffles with whipped cream, fruits, and syrup.

If Austen Powers had a cafe this would be it; this funky cafe in Salzburg was perhaps much too esthetically pleasing and didn't have not enough attention to taste. The decor is just as brilliant as their name, AfroCafe... I think perhaps my mistake in this case was not ordering coffee or tea. I chose the waffles with whipped cream, fruit and syrup. It left much to be desired as the waffles were under cooked and not crispy or warm. Also, it might just be me... But when I think of fruit with waffles I think berries, but it came with chopped up apples. Although not awful, I don't think anyone should order this item from the menu. I'd say give this place a chance for drinks and coffee, but if your craving waffles, perhaps you should get them in Belgium.

Such a cool cafe!! I hung out here for a couple hours and had a hot chai tea latte. The presentation and service are both great! It's a very cozy cafe with lots of pillows and blankets offered to the customers. I almost fell asleep while I was there. I will admit that I didn't eat here but my sister swears by their club sandwich and their applelicious tea. She studied in Salzburg for about 4 months and says it's the best sandwich she's ever had.

It is what it says on the tin! The interior is really bright and uplifting and there s Afros wherever you look. The teas are really good quality and you get a tray with the whole tea set including timer for brewing your tea. The hot chocolate was decent but not the best. The cakes were more novelty than clever. I had the kaktusfeigen cake. It consisted of sponge cake, cream, rocket salad, artificial fruit flavour and cold hard couscous. It tasted ok but the rocket was nt doing much. The texture of the cold hard cous cous could as well have been grains of sand. I d go back to try the food but stay away from the cakes!

Has plenty of seating. Service is on point. The ostrich burger is good and coffee was up to the name and roots.

There's actually more seating behind the bar if you go around. The menu is extensive from breakfast foods to decadent desserts! I came here mainly for the nockerl and it takes 30 minutes to prepare. I also ordered an americano and apple strudel. Our waitress, Alexandra, was very nice and attentive. She had to bring another table for the presentation! She also made sure I had time to photography the nockerl. It did not disappoint! It was fluffy and I love the berry cream and the ice cream that came with! It was just the perfect amount of sweetness and definitely worth a try! The apple strudel was bathed in vanilla cream (you can also get it with ice cream). It was flaky and warm. I love the cream it came in! Everything was fabulous! Many people came in to order desserts from the display! Thank you for a lovely breakfast. I enjoyed sitting there relaxing while enjoying the delicious foods!

Looks like most of the locals get cappuccinos, hard boiled eggs & some kind of bread with cold cuts & some veggies. I got the semilina porridge (Grieß-Porridge) which is equivalent to what Americans might call 'Cream of Wheat'. It came with fresh jam & was very tasty. I also ordered the Ham, cheese and salami with bread side (Schinken, Käse, Salami) and an iced latte. All were yummy. I wish I had more time to go back there to try some of their desserts.. they looked yummy!

Carpe Diem is a one starred Michelin restaurant at the end of the pedestrian zone, near the church…read moreand parking lot. From the outside, it looks like a typical bar and patio setup. Tucked away inside and upstairs is their fine dining area. I had the "Salzburg" menu for lunch, since I was stuck in traffic and arrived after the cutoff time for the larger "Carpe Diem" menu. The menu says it is for 2 people, but they will make it for 1 person as well. At the time, I was a little bummed because I wanted more food, but I am glad it turned out that way because I was stuffed. Started out with two amuse bouche items, one with duck, and one with scallops with a mango maracuna (passion fruit/lilikoi) sauce. The scallops paired VERY nicely with the sauce, as I love both mangoes and passion fruit. Next, was the goose liver with kumquat and Brazil nuts. The goose liver was cold/frozen and shaped into small ice cream like scoops and came out with some shave ice type flavors. It made it really easy to eat, but also had to eat it sort of quickly so the shave ice didn't just melt. The candied kumquat skin added a nice tartness to the goose liver. Third, was the black cod, coconut miso, tamarillo, and green asparagus. This was my favorite dish of the set. I had never heard of tamarillo before, but it tasted like papaya. After I looked it up, it is supposed to taste like a mix of passion fruit and tomatoes. Either way, the coconut miso had just enough flavor to complement the fish, but not overpower it. The final dish (before dessert) was veal, cream of spinach, mushrooms and blueberry. I was unsure of what to expect before it arrived, but worked nicely with the tender veal. For dessert, was chocolate, banana, and passion fruit. On the hot day that I dined here, it was perfect to cool off before I headed back out on the road. To top it off, they gave me two chocolate balls to take to go! I am glad that I ended arriving a bit late because I was stuffed. Next time I go to Salzburg, I will make sure to have the "Carpe Diem" menu for dinner and arrive hungry!

HORRIBLE experience. Don't waste your time and money…read more I arrived and waited 10 mins at the server stand (see picture). At the entrance of the restaurant there is a sign that says "please wait to be seated". I made eye contact with MULTIPLE staff calling them over to seat me. No one bothered to even come seat me. They saw me standing there and did not bother to acknowledge us. Hell - even a "hey the host will be right over" would have been nice. They simply chose to ignore me. I called to confirm my reservation so they knew I was coming. I waited for 10 mins and ultimately decided to leave. If you don't want to seat me for my reservation then I do not want to spend money with you. Ridiculous. More negatives: PAID elevator - you are REQUIRED to pay for a damn elevator up to the museum to eat. €5.90 EACH (€12 before even sitting). They give you a return ticket. I did have to walk to the back of the restaurant to ask someone for a return ticket on the elevator or be required to pay another €5.90 to go back to my car. Parking - insanely confusing. No clear direction. Required to park in a specific garage that your GPS will be unable to get to. So good luck.

I was so mesmerized by the amazing view, I sat down for lunch without checking a menu price. I had mountain lake salmon for lunch and portion size and flavor was very good. Fresh water salmon was sourced locally, probably from one of the lakes I saw from a train up to Salzburg. It was so moist and cooked to perfection. Champagne nicely complimented the lunch, it was truly leisurely moment. It was about 50€ and more than I wanted to pay for lunch but it was just what I needed for relaxing time.
