He just moved here from CALIF where he also had his own business, and it is clear from his work that he is a professional with a lot of experience. I moved to Jonesborough a year ago and have had a lot of heartburn with contractors of all sorts. Joseph was organized and professional from the get-go. He is the ONLY contractor who sent me his license and bonding information without me having to ask for it, and his itemized estimate was the most polished and explanatory that I have seen yet in this area. He also asked for an after-action report for feedback on his work. Who does that? I will definitely be hiring him again. He moved a door from one wall to another and closed off the pocket door opening. He matched the trim around the new door identically to the trim around the other doors- all hand-cut on site. Same with the baseboards, which were different in different rooms. He also patched a ceiling sag from water damage that was right up against custom kitchen cabinets. Two other contractors I had asked for an estimate told me that the cabinets would have to be torn out. Nope! Joseph fixed the sag, found a ceiling beam under the sag that had cracked and REPAIRED THAT TOO, and evened off the ceiling along the top of the cabinets perfectly. He even got that half-popcorn corrugated ceiling texture to match. What is more, he was very considerate of my time and of the house. He covered everything to prevent dust and dirt from migrating, enclosed my kitchen in a neat little tent (that I still had access to after hours so that I could cook) and cleaned up thoroughly after every day. I always knew when he would be here and he kept me abreast of any changes or questions. I actually learned a lot from him. He gave me free evaluations of the shower work that a tile company was doing in the house- to let me know the quality of the workmanship. He knows tile too, and was able to place the floor tile at the base of the new door to appropriately match the existing tile. Super quality work! What is more, he is trustworthy, and I felt comfortable giving him a house key so that he could come and go if I was not able to be there. The whole job was done in less time than we had projected and I am extremely happy with the results. He also hires great workers- Sterling is also highly skilled and meticulous, and Greyson is learning these skills as an apprentice. I'm ex-military and have pretty high standards. I also don't write reviews in general, unless someone is really good or really dangerous. Do-it-right lives up to its name- you can tell that it is Joseph's motto. This was close to 6 months of work trying to help him gain traction and promote his business. It was working, I have messages from check ins where he was pleased with everything. Then the messages stopped. He Is KNOWN now for not communicating after he initially receives payment for work he is supposed to do. I have seen so many complaints about him promising jobs and never following through. He lies about the issues he is facing so customers will understand how hard he has it with his crew. He doesn't know how to manage any aspect of his business and instead of accepting help or hiring someone to help him schedule, he just stops communicating. He WILL LEAVE you unfinished if you pay in advance. For the paid work I had him do, there were promises that there would be yearly check ups, and warranty - it will never happen, not even when I reached out with a problem. He swore he would come by that day and never showed. So I settled in making a light dinner and started my new script regimen including furosemide also known as Lasix or the pee pill. It's one of those meds you don't dare deny, argue with or put off when it hits because you'll embarrassingly lose. So... multiple trips to the washroom I ended my day. Waking up in the morning the pee pill was in control so off to the washroom I go.I needed to prep and leave for two doctors appointments to have additional follow-up and tests. Leaving now I headed downstairs (walk out basement) to leave and saw a lot of liquid on the floor. Checked the utility room for possible water leak issues and when I glanced over at the floor drain I knew I was in deep ****. Yep a definite septic problem. I couldn't cancel these test and doctors appointment nor was I able to call during the course of the regular business day. Doctors don't like being stood up. I'm a widower so I need fend for myself if you know what I mean. Arriving back home about 5:30 PM I went online and began dialling for real help. Many voice mails and text us, will get back to you as soon as we can. You know how that goes, it's the only time your phone is silent (LOL). I dialled a few more thinking I best get a room for the evening when A woman answered the phone; Grace Septic how may we help? Now after 6 PM I explained my predicament and she apologised saying the men are just returning from their day and she would get me scheduled promptly for Wednesday. She then excused herself from the phone and came back online saying a crew will be on their way shortly. I was speechless. About forty minutes later a three man crew arrived, introduced themselves and asked several questions to which I was of no help. I know what I know but you can't fill the point of a pin with what I know about septic systems even my own. You know that look you often get when a service person or contractor asks a question about your property or situation and you can read their mind as they're calling you a ***** but it's said silently? Not so with these gentlemen. They said lets find the answers together so we can get you fixed properly and happily flushing and you'll then have the correct information for any future needs should they arise. That's exactly what took place. They located and fixed and now I know where my tank is located, suggested care and maintenace in addition to what a riser is. The charge was extremely reasonable and the education was free! They earned my 10 star rating and recommendation. I'm very grateful to them and they have me as a positive spokesperson on their behalf. In my opinion Grace Septic should be the first septic service provider you call. He did complete our driveway (Jan 20th), and our contract was signed OCT 2024. I understand Weather is an issue around the first of the year but, it's almost the end of July and still not completed a job he stated he would be back to do. We were very calm with the process due to other issues have occurred but, my problem is. Don't write an agreement/give us a price for both and not complete both. I will say the only reason I am giving him a 1 star is due to his lack of communication skills when this is a business. Our driveway was complete, and we enjoy that but, the patio that we wanted done before summer was not. I have tried multiple messages and no response. I would not recommend due to lack of communication skills.
