Stopped in here before a show at OWA. Nice ambience and staff. Local menu. Husband ordered the cheeseburger which was cooked exactly as ordered and delicious. I had the grilled shrimp basket. Both items were cooked very well and delicious. Proportions were as expected. Indoor and outdoor seating. Yes, the restroom is outside and around the corner. It isn't that big a deal. Many of the shops/restaurants refer guests to that public restroom. The wine shop across the way, the ice cream shop, the candy shop, & other businesses in and around that corner also states to use that public restroom.

French dip and Mac-&-cheese. The best in town.

Loved visiting this cute grill and bar. Food was delicious, perfect vibe and price was refreshingly great! Hard to find good food, service that's not expensive these days. We will be back!

Fresh, hand-cut mozzarella sticks (*chef's kiss*)

My family LOVED our dinner at Gussie's! We had originally planned to have sushi, but the restaurant was closed, so we headed next door. I was happy to see that it was family owned and operated, and it lived up to expectations. We started with beer battered onion strips and they were fresh and delicious! Crispy, yet light, which is hard to accomplish with deep frying. For dinner my son had a grilled cheese (big hit), my daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken which she loved, and my husband had a French dip sandwich which he said was delicious. I wasn't super hungry so I went with the hand cut mozzarella sticks. They were so yummy! A little salty, but pleasantly so, with a flavorful marinara sauce for dipping, and nothing like your bog-standard frozen mozzarella sticks. Fresh, giant pieces of real cheese. In addition, our server was extremely attentive and friendly. We never wanted for a thing or had to wait on anything. So the bathroom is a short walk outside the restaurant - so what? Next time we come to OWA we will be back at Gussie's. I hope it thrives here - it deserves to!

Fried shrimp

Listen...everything here including the service is fantastic! Those fried banana peppers are outstanding. If you have a chance to visit here feel free to choose anything from the menu.

Chicken Alfredo

I walked into Gussies with high expectations because the vibe seems nice and it's a nice variety on the menu. The service was great from the lady behind the bar and our server Stephanie. Me and my wife were indecisive so we decided to try 3 items, The patty melt, the grilled shrimp Bam Bam tacos, and the chicken alfredo. To start the patty melt was burnt on the inside of the toast providing a char taste to every bite of the sandwich, we were not asked if we wanted a specific temp on the burger so I assumed as patty melts usually are it would be well done wich it definitely was but was so much meat it made it so dry. The skin of the onions were left on makinthg them chewy and the thousand islands over powered the whole sandwich. The shrimp tacos were surprisingly good which I had hoped they would be because the only thing needed to cook was the shrimp, the Mac and cheese on the other hand was completely separated having the texture of cottage cheese and Maccaroni and had zero taste and was Luke warm. The alfredo was the biggest disappointment of the entire meal having zero flavor including the chicken the sauce tasted like canned prego and I could have put a nail through the wall with the garlic knot.

On a recent boys day out I took a few of my Buds to check out this new addition for Arizona BBQ,…read moreyeah you read right, Arizona. Colt Grill BBQ & Spirits just opened in downtown Foley, AL, and I was curious to see how their smoked meats and Western vibe would fit in with our Southern scene. This place is a big deal for Foley, it's set up in the historic Foley Bakery building, a 100-year-old landmark that's been closed since 2007. The building, at the corner of North Alston Street and West Laurel Avenue, got a major facelift over the past year, and now it's home to this BBQ joint downstairs, with apartments and an office upstairs. Colt Grill started in Arizona, with four locations there, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Cottonwood, and Village of Oak Creek. Foley's their first venture outside Arizona, and they picked it because they loved the South's charm and Foley's small-town feel. Walking in, the place feels cozy yet upscale for a BBQ spot. The exposed brick walls and custom furniture, sourced from the owner's family of furniture builders, give it a warm, authentic vibe. Brenda Marie Clouston, the owner, has a background in interior design, and it shows. The setup is pretty unique for the area: you order at the counter, but there's a full-service bar where bartenders bring your food if you sit there. My buds and I grabbed a table, but the bar looked tempting with its lineup of bourbons and signature cocktails like the Foley Bushwacker and Colt Margarita but only one pal took advantage of the spirits. And they have happy hour :-) The menu's got all the BBQ classics, but it's not just ribs and brisket. They smoke nearly everything pork, chicken, turkey, even their mac-n-cheese over oak hardwoods. I went for the sampler platter to try a bit of everything that included baby back ribs with campfire sauce, pulled pork with Kansas City sauce, brisket, smoked turkey, and a turkey brat sausage. The meats were tender and packed with smoky flavor, and the variety of sauces let me mix it up. Classic sliced white bread was served with mine but we tried the jalapeño cornbread, which was a standout, spicy but not overwhelming. The guys got a brisket plate and a pulled pork sandwich. They liked it but I thought the brisket could have been a little moist and tender. Overall the food was good and I will return. Service was friendly, though it got a bit hectic during the lunch rush. The staff was hustling, and you could tell they're still finding their rhythm since opening in early this yesr. I liked that they give back to the community every "Cowboy Cookie" sold donates a portion to Secret Meals for Hungry Kids, a local charity. The atmosphere was lively and the Western decor made it feel like a little piece of Arizona in Alabama. Bottom line: Colt Grill's a great addition to Foley. It's not just another BBQ joint, it's got heart, history, and some seriously good food. My buds and I are already planning our next visit. If you're in the area, check it out and come hungry! I have a few faves like the cheesy mushrooms and the BBQ shrimp, and nowadaya you can't just look at the regular menu. If you haven't been by lately, you are seriously missing out. Highly recommended!!! 5/26/26

However, we unfortunately weren't impressed with the flavor. Presentation wise, very fun and cute. The mermaid tail was presented with everything I got except I didn't get the mermaid tail gummy/charm on my sundae, a bit odd haha. The mermaid tail was $8 but really it was beautiful! The vanilla ice cream however, was not great. It tasted like imitation vanilla, like vanilla extract. Not a fan at all. My husband got a milkshake with m&ms and gummy worms. Mix ins were great... but the ice cream again was just OFF. It didn't taste like a normal chocolate ice cream and we couldn't figure out what was off but something was. This is how much of our items we decided to go ahead and toss due to flavor just not being what we expected.
