Hank Garcia Painting did the interior and exterior of a tear-down renovation of the house next door…read morehere in noe valley. They did an outstanding job. When it was time to paint our house, I had two other painting contractors besides Hank come out to give estimates. Hank's bid was more than competitive and knowing firsthand the quality of the work his company did we chose him. We couldn't be more satisfied with the entire project. From the time the scaffolding went up, to the final cleanup, it couldn't have gone any smoother. Hank was extremely responsive to any question or request we had as was the painting crew. I paid Hank Garcia $60K to paint the exterior and the interior of my queen anne house in 2018. His…read moreteam did not properly prep any of the existing doors and trim and the paint started failing immediately. I noticed the failing paint while they were still on the job, and had to point out that they actually had to remove the old paint before painting the new. Apparently that was not included in the price of my job. The paint on the back of my house, which I paid around $20K for, shows primer on the edge of the siding all the way down the house. It was not completely painted. Also - the paint started bubbling immediately. I live in the Mission and it is hot here, but my neighbor's paint does not bubble. The front steps also started bubbling and failing immediately. They have had to be repainted. Problem is, Hank's team did not sand or prep the front stairs. They just painted new over the old. I was told by an architect that a paint job of this price should last 20 years, mine in places has had to be repainted after 2 years. Hank's team missed obvious finishing areas around most of our light switches and vents. We paid $1,500 to have them come and correct it, and were disappointed to inspect the areas after his second team left, only to discover multiple areas that had not been corrected. I have reached out to Hank and to my general contractor to remedy the quality of the work, and they said that it was the quality of the paint, which was 100% Benjamin Moore, which I paid a premium to use. So you yelpers know, if you have a quality issue with Hank, it is the paint's fault. I am posting one picture of my $60K paint job, and there is more where that came from if you want to ping me directly. Hank you should have just fixed the work that I paid you to do.

Most importantly we wanted the old school hand applied skip trowel texture to match that existing on the walls and ceilings. We contacted several companies and received quotes from all. Jeff, the owner, of Cushings Painting & Drywall called back within 5 minutes of leaving him a message. He was on time to estimate the job scope and delivered the estimate 3 days later as promised. Jeff was very open to answering any and all questions that we had and returned phone calls within minutes. Jeff's estimate was competitive and his professional, friendly attitude won us over. That alone in the world of contractors should be enough to win his business. Jeff performed the work on our home over 4 days. His communication was excellent and he was on time every day. Great care was taken to insure the work space remained clean and that nothing was damaged! Jeff worked efficiently and did a great job repairing and matching the existing texture. We couldn't be happier with the results and will use Jeff for any work we need done in the future. We highly recommend Cushing Painting & Drywall!

We are keeping Jeff's number for future projects. We highly recommend him.

I would've appreciated if they covered all repairs and costs in the initial estimate. Then they kept texting me and pressuring me about when they could come back to do the additional work which I reminded them if they would've told me everything upfront, they wouldn't have to be coming back or waiting for me to find more money. Once they did the work, the fence was not level and then they had to come out again the next day. I asked them to be done by 8:30 so I could get to work and they still weren't done. When they finally finished, he asked for more money than what he quoted me and seemed to have deleted the text message where he quoted me less. The fence was not level, and the quality of work was not great. He did not point out that the fence was not level when he asked me to review the work. I had to bring it to his attention and then he said oh yeah, I noticed that. I won't be using this contractor again. Not upfront and honest with quotes and the work was not quality. It's unfortunate because this old Victorian needs a lot of repairs and it could've been some reoccurring income for him.

We recently completed a whole house remodeling and addition project and had a great experience…read moreworking with BNO. As first-time homeowners taking on a project of this scale, we were honestly a bit overwhelmed at the start and knew we needed a contractor we could fully trust. From day one, BNO made the process feel manageable and brought our vision to life. They were patient, open to our ideas, took the time to explain each step, and helped us feel confident in the decisions we were making. Once we started physically seeing things come together, BNO was receptive to our change requests or additional work at fair costs to do what's right and what's best for the house, especially as it was not just a flip but planned to be our forever home. They ensured things were built the way we wanted and that we were happy. Throughout the project, BNO was professional, responsive (especially to our millions of questions) and transparent about the scope, timeline, and costs. They guided us through design choices and their quality of work really stood out. Communication was consistent, and we always knew what was happening and what to expect next. Like any large project, there were some bumps along the way but what stood out was that whenever an issue came up, BNO was proactive about finding solutions and focused on moving things forward rather than letting problems stall progress. They handled challenges responsibly and made sure we were satisfied with the outcome. Most importantly they orchestrated all the city inspections and always passed with minor comments, if any, that were easily addressed. Invoices always came when expected and never before the milestones were met. Overall, we're very happy with the results and especially grateful to have worked with a contractor we could trust for our first major remodeling experience. We finished in a little less than a year from demo to final which is very reasonable for the amount of work we did. We would absolutely recommend BNO to anyone considering a home renovation or addition.
