I stopped at this TJ Maxx awhile back and was not impressed. I decided to stop in today because I'd seen some really cute TJ Maxx finds on social media, I'm really glad that I gave them another chance. Turns out, I've been sleeping on TJ Maxx! The store was clean and organized. It was definitely giving me all of the joyful shopping experience that I get at a Home Goods store but with clothes, accessories and beauty finds. I'm definitely going to add this to my favorite places to shop list. If you've got time to browse, you should definitely check it out. read more

I was trying to check-in at Dicks sporting goods but couldn't find the page... but I AM at gurnee mills so we can start there I guess. I've been shopping this mall for years and it's a mixed experience for sure. It's painfully large for one thing, you need to plan ahead. If you think you want to just walk around the mall to shop... wear good shoes because it's a trek. I recommend driving to different sections to take some of the burden off yourself. Selection varies constantly. They keep a few outlet stores I like but a lot of stores I enjoyed simply came and went. There are more high priced shirt stores than any one mall needs, I'll say that. Service varies by store so quite a bit. I like the vans store, always helpful staff in there. This mall still has a rainforest cafe! Pure nostalgia and a good place to take kids. There's really plenty to eat here, and plenty to eat adjacent as well. They've got some movie screens and though they aren't the cleanest they do get some fun exclusive events too. This mall has its ups and downs for sure. It can be kind of magical to shop here during holiday time but the rest of the year you definitely should have a specific destination in mind. read more

We have been coming to this outlet mall for as long as I can remember and it's so wild to see the businesses that have come and gone through the years. Large malls tend to be rather hectic so we always opt to go during off times, but you can always count on the holidays to bring out great deals for everyone and anyone. Food court restaurants have come and gone and one side of the mall has way more options than the other side, but it's so great to see so many stand alone restaurants outside of the mall as well. They have a ton of gaming arcades through the mall so it offers fun for the kids, while also offering trendy stores like the upcoming opening of Primark for the adults. All in all, this mall stays pretty consistent especially since most folks are starting to order online more than shopping in stores. But it stays as clean as be with tons of variety throughout! read more

Third visit of 2024 while visiting the State of Illinois! Easy parking outside, simple to navigate and maneuver around in. Store Directory is user friendly and helpful to find the preferred stores... Went first to the Under Armour Factory Outlet store and bought a whole bunch of Project Rock Shirts that were on sale for 50% off, UA gloves, and shoes that were on clearance!!! Very good deals. Then went to the American Eagle store, Bass Pro, NIKE, Five Below, Marshall's, Starbucks, and LIDS. Bought some nice new threads, colognes, socks, sweatshirts, Joggers and snacks from the stores we went to. Pretty goods we got, all in all! It was a decent, enjoyable and pleasant shopping experience for the family! read more

Gurnee mills is a staple. It's always been big and there have always been numerous stores open. I genuinely enjoy coming here but I have to admit, parking is a mood if you want to go a specific store. For the most part, this place is pretty clean, I wouldn't say it would pass a daily white glove inspection but it's definitely clean enough. I do have to say that the decor is a bit dated (and maybe I'm showing my age here) but I remember when the interior was decorated to look like a barn and they had an a active sports authority. There is a roundabout of various stores and I do like that they have many factory stores and outlets which is nice. Other than that, it's nice to have a mall that people still go to now and then considering that more and more malls are shutting down. Overall, this place is nice, not what it used to be in its hey day but I'm glad it's still here. read more

My husband and I had some time to spend before meeting some friends, so we decided to go to Gurnee Mills shopping center. It had been a few years since I had been there. I had forgotten how large this mall is and how many shopping and dining options there are, both inside the mall and on the perimeter. We decided to go to Macy's and do some holiday shopping. We always look forward to seeing what bargains we can find there. We did find some deals and left loaded down. We found what we were looking for at Gurnee Mills shopping center, and I highly recommend it for all of your shopping needs! read more

Date of visit: July 24, 2023 My husband has long heard tales of Gurnee Mills like it's this mythical place of wonder. Having been there a few times over the years, I knew that not to be the case but was happy to indulge him in a visit on our way back from Chicago. We found great parking at a fairly unused entrance and were able to take a full lap around the mall, hitting all of the stores that we had an interest in visiting. I found a pair of shoes and we grabbed some tasty cookies at Mrs. Fields. There is not much special about this mall outside of multiple furniture stores and the ice rink, but for the most part it is not full of empty spaces though it could use more sit-down restaurants to augment the food courts. Again, nothing special about this mall, but glad my husband got to see it and end the mystery! read more

I remember when I was a wee-lad, we would do an entire day trip, driving from the city, to Gurnee Mills, and not coming home until it was dark. We would spend a good 5-6hrs there, perusing all the stores and just enjoying all the discounts. Fast-forward 25-years later (yes, I'm old) and this place is definitely not what it use to be. Plenty of parking, barely any foot traffic, and me and the boys walked the entire place in a little under 2-hrs, which included a stop at the food court. The discounts here weren't that noticeable, and when I told the boys how this place use to be jam-packed, where you could barely walk, my oldest said the obvious -- "Dad, most people shop online now." We were in the area for a weekday dinner and decided to swing by here on a whim after dinner. It was just a random opportunity, and we thought we might visit the Corningware outlet we thought was here, but learned it had been closed years ago lol. I was pleasantly surprised though at the vibrancy and popularity of this indoor mall. Many indoor malls have been on their death beds for years, but this one is an exception. Lots of shoppers and hardly any store vacancies here, and this is a big indoor mall. I won't make any racist sounding statements, but my guess is the area just has the right demographics of residents and shoppers who aren't internet shoppers and simply prefer shopping the old fashioned brick-and-mortar way. They also have a commensurately large food court. I personally wouldn't want to be here on the weekends which I presume are crowded. It was heartening to me to see an indoor mall with some life, so kudos to Gurnee Mills and best of luck. read more

This place have changed a lot. When I was a teenager, I used to work at this mall. So many good memories. They have remodeled and looks more modern but it doesn't seem to be as crowded as I remembered how it used to be. I do like the new look and so many new stores and different food stalls in the food court. Value wise you can get some good deals if you shop wisely. Better mall than other places I've been to. Definitely check this place out for yourself. I wish they just made a circle mall so you end up where you started rather than turning around walking back to get to where you started. Lots of nostalgia for Gurnee Mills, and I remember what this place was like 30+ years ago. I visit the mall every five years, and it's changed a lot. They got rid of the farmland kitsch design--the food courts were designed to make you feel like you were eating in big barns. Well, that's all gone, and the rest of the mall is fairly generic. I noticed it's not as scary as it was the last time I visited. I didn't notice the large groups of underwear-showing teenage boys walking around. Obviously, the mall increased security, and now it looks like there are more families shopping than big groups of teenagers. Some of the stores have been the same since they opened, but most are just outlet or lesser known chain stores. Some of my favorite stores closed long ago: Neiman Marcus Last Call, Saks OFF 5th, Bed Bath & Beyond, Sears Grand, and Spiegel's. Now half of the stores are just trinkets and cheap clothes. read more

Gurnee Mills is a great outlet mall where I've spent countless hours. It's IL's largest indoor shopping and dining center with over 200 stores. Even though not as crowded during it's heyday, the huge one story Gurnee Mills was busy when we visited on a Saturday afternoon while trying to kill some time before dinner. I was actually a little hesitant to go because everytime we visited previously, it seemed to continue to go downhill (e.g. more closed storefronts and food court restaurants, far less people shopping on a weekend). But this time, we saw a lot more stores open with different brands. When it first opened, I remember it being focused on outlet version of many retailers, along with full service stores that wanted to take advantage of food traffic. But the decline of malls in general took its toll on Gurnee Mills as well. But they seem to have reinvented itself a bit. There was a full service department store now (Macy's), where before that wouldn't be allowed. The huge retail space provides retailers a lot more space to spread out their product for a better customer experience. And we saw store types like Japanese lifestyle stores that would never have made it here in the Midwest even 10 years ago. We ended up spending the entire afternoon here, maybe making it half way through the long S-shaped mall. read more

Needing to update my wardrobe, I decided to check out Gurnee Mills since I didn't have much luck at couple other large suburban shopping centers. Took the long trek upto Gurnee to check out this mall. Yes, after reading the reviews, I knew what I was getting into. The mall is pretty dated.... but what mall isn't?? First store, I checked out was Mashall's/ Home Goods. I did find couple reasonably priced shirts. The store was pretty decent size. From there, onto Kohl's just to check things out. Another success finding clothing. The prices were okay. The two food courts are sparse with fast food restaurants. After a quick lunch, I continued to browse at the various stores. Then I found Nautica.... what a great find. After couple of hours, I was finally done with this mall. I would return to this mall... occasionally. read more

I came here driven by a friend for the first time in YEARS. The 4th holiday weekend was perfect to escape the heat and hang out. I found some good deals from NY& Co Outlet and Bath/Body Works. Browsing and window shopping were fun too, but the paper maps were hard to find. YES I know they prob have an app, but I never go so it seemed like a waste. Great idea to have massage chairs, charging stations, and a train for the kids. I think they should slow down a little, I almost got run over leaving a store once! The bathrooms had availability, and were fairly clean. The Fro-Yo bar at Red Mango hit the spot after a while. The letdown was Kelly's Cajun Grille. I shared a bourbon chicken with rice,beans and plantains that looked more like Chinese food than anything I'd find in New Orleans! It has been a good few years since I've made the journey to Gurnee Mills, and it seems that time has been kind to it. Since Simon took over, it looks like there have been some nice improvements made. Everything is now well lit and much cleaner. No cracked floor tiles that I could see. But even after repeated trips here, the dizzying layout has never struck me as logical. It's almost dollar sign shaped, and just doesn't lend itself to easy browsing. If you miss a store, be prepared for extra walking. I was surprised how crowded it was, but MOST people minded their distance and wore masks properly. I'd say "There's always a few in every crowd..." but crowds aren't supposed to be much of a thing right now. So take that for what you will. I did see some sort of "Expectant Mother's Parking" near the entrance I used. I've no idea how long that's been around, but it is nice to see. After all, word on the street is, Momma needs a new pair of shoes. read more

I haven't been to Gurnee since I was a teenager! My husband surprised me with a mini shopping spree, which turned out to be a spree for the kids because I'm just that kind of Mom! Lol. Anyways, we got here in the afternoon. You are required to wear a mask upon entering any store. Some stores did monitor capacity, so there was a line but they seem to move quickly. The food court did not have many options, and many of the restaurants were closed. On our way out we began to notice all the different activities for the kids. They have a bungee attraction and a train that goes around the mall. Next time we visit, we'll be sure our little guy has some fun! Gurnee Mills was the only mall that I really ever got into when I lived and worked in the area, it was my go to place because if you couldn't find it there than your not looking hard enough. It's really a destination stop for a family with a stat of the art movie theater 4DX, ice skating, mini golf, laser tag, video games and the rain forest cafe which is cool etc etc. There is so much to do that you could take your family and make a day of it. There is all sorts of restaurants with most people's favorites like 5 guys, Chic Fil A, Red lobster, White Castle, Portillos, Buffalo Wild Wings and Chicago Wood fire pizza to name a few which are in the mall and stand alone buildings around the perimeter of the mall. When I worked and lived in the area I would frequently stop for lunch because of all the options in one area and sneak in some shopping. Since I moved to Milwaukee I just never got into the mall thing again after experiencing Gurnee Mills for some reason, the two major malls in Milwaukee just don't have the same attraction like Gurnee Mills had to me for some reason. I'm not a mall person to start with and I guess when you start with Gurnee Mills it's hard to get into other malls because it's just not the same, my love for a mall started with Gurnee Mills and ended with Gurnee Mills so it's was it was to visit an old friend again. read more

This is a short and sadly sad (not sweet) overview of a last minute run to Gurnee Mills mall. Last night my son insisted we run to a mall (the right mall) for a pair of pants he had his eye on at Tilly's. Considering that his online shopping plans were not going to churn out his dream pair of pants overnight (due to shipping restrictions), we made a last minute run to Gurnee to make him happy. Kids don't have it easy these days, so we gave in to the drama. The mall closes at 7pm, so we planned to get there right before closing, in hopes there would be no one there. We were right about that decision. We pulled up to a pretty empty parking lot. When we entered the building, it was a ghost town. I mean there were some random stores not even open. It was sad...really sad. We were obviously relieved that it was quiet, because we've not been mall shopping since the pandemic. Not sure we'd doing it again, especially since Covid has made its strong appearance again. Take note, there was really limited seating. Where there were once 10 seats, we found find one or two available. Overall, Gurnee had quite the dystopian vibe :-( For the record, Tilly's didn't have the pants we needed, but we ended up at Levi's, so Levi's review coming next... read more

They actually have some real outlet stores here! The facility is huge so if you have only certain stores you wanna see I suggest mapping things out and figuring your best entry point. I also suggest not having time restrictions because when you find something it's hard to cut the shopping short! They even have a kids play area to entertain younger kiddos read more

Sometimes it's empty like many a malls failing. BUT it's awesome! What other mall has a movie theater at it anymore! They used to all have theaters, but even better, this one is a MARCUS, and if you don't know quality now you know because Marcus has the best popcorn and seats in the movie industry. This was ORIGINALLY the 1st 4-D theater in Illinois though now there are a few. There are also cool small boutiques here for men's shopping and lots of fun stores. Ahhh, Gurnee Mills... I don't go to Gurnee Mills as often as I liked, but when I do, I usually enjoy myself. I remember visiting Gurnee Mills as a kid, watching and waiting for the cool animatroinc inventor to fly above me in his flying contraption and into his barn. The barn, too, would make sounds, like someone was tinkering. That, sadly, is no longer there. It stopped running years ago, but there were, up until 2017, some remnants of it. Now, you would never know that iconic Gurnee Mills animatronic ever existed. (If you look up Gurnee Mills Flying Man or Gurnee Mills Barn, you'll see what I'm talking about.) This last time I went was yesterday, which was Black Friday. That, I would NOT recommend, because, as you can imagine, the mall was jam packed with people. Do yourself a favor and hit up Gurnee Mills on a day that isn't the most popular shopping day in the States. Gurnee Mills has some great stores. There's a bunch of jewelry store outlets, a Disney Store Outlet, Hot topic, Box Lunch, Too Cool, Books a Million, It'Sugar, Pink, Wilson's Leather and more. Not all the stores are outlet stores, but many of them are. There's also a ton of places to eat, both of the sit down and food court variety. They've recently remodeled and it looks great. The mall itself is a live, unlike so many dying malls. We're lucky that Gurnee Mills has successfully kept itself going. The only downfall of this mall is the layout. It's not a circle where you can see all the sites and not have to really backtrack. Gurnee Mills is designed so you start at one end, to go the other and then have to basically backtrack to where you started. It's a pain when you are on a tight schedule or it's crowded. Note: TJMAXX in Gurnee Mills has moved! It's located in the plaza where Jewel and Best Buy is! I have a love hate relationship with this mall. Recently they did some remodeling with the food court and flooring so it looks a bit more "higher end" but by all means not the clothes they sell or some of the people that go there. (im not being snobby!) If you need some basic necessities, this is a good place to go to! They have good prices on home goods (Marshalls, Kohls ). I love going to Marshalls for pet supplies, (they have a good selection of toys, shampoos, beds) snacks, and occasionally pots and pans as they wear out. i avoid coming to the theater cuz 1, its old and seats are crappy, and 2, usually full of annoying, loud high school kids. They recently added Portillo's and Buffalo Wild Wings to their restaurant selection. read more

Gurnee Mills. The place is massive. Lot's of area to get your shop on. I am a retail therapy freak and this place gets my fix on. It's also a great place to exercise because it's so big you'll put a wearing on the legs if you make it through the entire place. I personally only have a few select stores I hit and those are BR Factory Outlet, Gap Factory Outlet, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Off Broadway Shoes. I also only go here if we happen to be driving past. Pleasant Prairie is much closer and not by that much but enough. They also have many common stores. Retail seems to be a dying breed these days, but not for me, especially at the rock bottom prices the Gurnee Outlet stores have. read more

We came to this mall with our Mom to go Christmas shopping and to spend time with her as we do each year. We came in at one end of the mall and decided to walk to the other end first and then make our way back to where we Parkes. We were nearly at the other end of the mall when a security person told us we had to leave unless we worked there. We said we were walking to the other end before the mall stores open at 9am. He then informed us that the mall opens at 10am, which we were unaware of. He then asked how we got in and we said the door was open. He then said we had to leave, so we began walking back to the door where we parked by. He left and then caught up to us when my Mom had to sit for literally a minute because her hip was hurting. He told us again that we had to leave and we told him we were on our way out, but that Mom's hip hurt and we were just letting her sit for a moment. He said thar "they" were telling him that we had to leave, at which point, I told him that we were on our way out, and "they" would have to wait an extra minute for Mom to relax for just a minute. He then left and we began walking back to the door we parked by when another man came up to is who we figured to be "they". I told him to not tell us to leave as we were leaving, but we're walking slower due to Mom's bad hip. If the mall security was in such a rush to have us leave, they should have brought us a wheelchair for Mom and walked us out. Maybe they should make sure their doors are locked before 10am.​​ read more
