This is essentially goodwill but a level up. Clothes and items are sold by weight rather than based on the item. It is a lot of digging. Not many people or anyone really wore gloves. I brought my own gloves since it's best to be safe incase you touch something that can irritate your skin. The is quite a bit of lint as you dig so I recommend wearing a mask so it doesn't cause allergies. It's a fun experience to go and dig for clothing items since you can always find vintage goods. I was able to leave with 3 knit sweaters for $3! And one of them is a vintage Burberry one. Since there is no organization and thrown into bins you find a mix of all sizes and genders for clothes. There aren't any fitting rooms so it's mostly eyeballing or just throwing it on top of what you're already wearing. The service is great. No one was really fighting over bins when I went which was good. I did go at a later time which meant there wasn't much left to look through. The prices are GOOD. The usual crowd is WILD. The floor is cluttered with fallen out items mostly clothes. The staff does not make any effort to pick them up - they roll tables in and out straight over clothes, and sometimes use broom to sweep fallen pieces just like trash. Bins with solid items are super messy, with tons of broken pieces, piling - huge items, small items, all in one pile. Lots of selection to choose from. Plenty of bins of clothes, shoes and household items. New items taken out through out the day. However the some group of people get the new stuff. I've been to 3 Goodwill Outlets in different states and this one is the cleanest and the best! Huge "gymnasium" of tables to dig through. Most stuff is accurately sorted into big categories (e.g. clothes, "bric a brac", shoes, books, etc.). Lost 1 star because the staff is gruff and sometimes will try to scam you on the scales. But mostly lost a star because the prices have gone up making the value less. read more

I was just here today. This place IS open and fully functioning for business. They have carts you are allowed to use and it's clean for a GoodWill. I used to go to the goodwill outlet locations when we lived in Florida so I knew what to expect upon arrival. This one was actually nicer than any of the other goodwill outlets I have been to down south. It was clean, didn't smell, walkways were clear, you were allowed to use carts, no kids running around, people were polite and friendly including employees! I will be back here to rummage around. Great deals especially with the inflation going up even the thrift stores are over priced around my home. This was an interesting place. This isn't your typical thrift store. The Goodwill Outlet is a place where the stuff that's not sold at your regular Goodwill store is sent too. There are no shelves or hangers that items or clothing are on. There are just bins. Everything is just thrown in bins. The process is you dig through the bins to try and find an item you want. There is no organization. They try I guess to have a clothes and a shoe section and then miscellaneous items but everything gets all mixed together. The problem with this is, you need time. Time to dig and move things around. In the miscellaneous items, there are so many broken items. You're moving 10 broken items to find 1 good item. And when I say good item I'm just saying it's not broken. It doesn't mean that it's something you would ever want. It's just not broken. I highly suggest if you visit this place or any Goodwill Outlet. I hear there are more out there, that you wear gloves. Again, this is stuff that is unsold and rejected stuff that wouldn't be put in the regular stores. Some of this stuff looks and smells like it just came out of the hamper and sometimes worse. Just be safety conscious. This isn't a Covid suggestion, this is beware of the filth that people wanted to get rid of and they didn't care what condition it was in when they dropped it off. There's a reason the staff wears gloves all the time. And this was before Covid. They know the risk of random used items from people. You never know where it came from. As for the staff. The greeter was very friendly. The cashier was great. I felt sorry for the people on the floor. I watched the floor staff just keep going up and down the isles constantly cleaning and picking items up off the floor because inconsiderate (expletives) just throw stuff on the floor instead of moving things around in the bins. They just take items out of the bins and right onto the floor to make room. The problem is, these lazy people don't put it back in the bins when they're done. They leave it for the floor staff to pick it up. The other thing is the kids. Oh the kids. I don't know if the stuff comes in prebroken or if the kids break it. This is like a playground for the kids while the inconsiderate parents are digging through the bins. It's a free for all. Kids play with stuff and leave it laying on the floor. People, this isn't a playground, it's a place of business. Be freaking responsible and watch your kids! The pricing structure here is you purchase by the pound. It's $1.39 per pound. They have scales at the checkouts. Books, cd's and dvd's are $1 each. I believe heavier electronic items are priced differently also, I just don't remember how those are priced. After all this, we did find a couple of items, but all in all, I don't think we'll go back. I brought my teenagers here the other day and they loved it! You definitely need to learn the system of waiting for new bins coming out and the protocol. You can easily identify the regulars here. It's taken me awhile to say better things about the Goodwill Outlet but if you have a strategy, you can go there without ripping your hair out. The outlet is a huge room with large blue plastic rolling bins lined up in rows. Clothing, books, CD's, movies, shoes, and purses/luggage are separated but everything else is a hodgepodge. I strongly advise anyone who is willing to dig deeper, to wear work gloves because you never know what could be lying in one of those bins. Personally, I visually skim the tops of the bins and I leave the handling of items to books, movies, and music items. My biggest piece of advice...when you see the eBay'ers/resellers lining up where new bins are about to be rolled out...walk the opposite direction or go to the opposite side of the store! It's like fresh meat is about to be dropped into the piranha tank...and you don't want to mess with the piranhas! Come back after they've ransacked the newest bins and you're out of harms way from the highly aggressive nature of some of these folks. Goodwill's marketing management, in my opinion has made the decision to limit the amount of product they offer at the Sturevant Goodwill outlet location. They have reduced the number of hardgoods bins from over 40 to 12. They have reduced the number of semi trucks parked outside the building from an average of 8 down to 2. They do not follow their website description of changing bins in a timely manner. It's my opinion, Goodwill is sending most of the hardgoods product to the newer outlet store in Milwaukee. It is my belief that the Sturtevant outlet store will close due to low sales. The low sales could be avoided by maintaining high hardgoods product offerings. read more

The outlet is more work to find merchandise that a regular Goodwill store. You need to have time, lots of time to sort through a room full of bins. Then wait around for the workers to bring in the new bins. The bins are covered and are rolled into place. Shoppers gather around and poise for the signal to attack the fresh merchandise. It's crazy for the first minute. I waited for the mob to disperse before looking, and I still found some good things. I do online reselling and easily found $200 worth (projected sales) f merchandise for $17.30. There were serious people there on a mission and had a system for their sorting. I'm sure they are mostly resellers. They protected themselves by wearing gloves and dust masks. Some of those bins were gross and who knows what is flying up into the air while you are sorting through clothes. There was a hand sanitizer on the wall which I utilized throughout my visit. Checking out is easy. You remove anything from the cart that isn't clothes and weigh it on the counter. If the basket is full of clothes, you just push it on to the scale which is in the floor. This place was pretty packed for 10:20 in the morning. Very clean store friendly cashiers. Some very crazy people tho, some hoarded the buckets rummaging around. And beware when a new bucket of clothes or toys comes out and the cloth is taken off the top it's a frenzy. But overall I found some really Great things for low costs. I paid $14 in things that just overall could've cost $200. Things from Nike, Target, cat toys, sweatshirts and more. Such a great place to shop for this experience.
