With new dishes regularly being introduced, you will definitely want to keep your sundays free for that yummy buffet! Two dishes I recently tried where the 'Chicken or Lamb Naga', which is a chicken or lamb marinated in a delicious homemade rich chilli sauce similar to the traditional jalfrezi, the other dish was the Murgh Shatkora, which is chicken cooked in a mouthwatering chilli lime sauce (AMAZING)! I can honestly say, I am looking forward to more wonderful new dishes from this eatery. The management and staff are their usual friendly warming helpful selves and as always a great place to come with friends and family. Book in advance as they do get rather busy!

Well this was an experience I can tell you! A friend of ours…read moresuggested Jaflong for a gathering as it was one of his regular curry places. It's a little out the way for us in Dulwich but I'm so glad we made the effort. 11 of us descended on Jaflong last night and we couldn't have been happier. The staff were incredibly friendly. After we were seated the offered us poppadoms with all the trimmings; I particularly liked the spicy line pickle which even the Auntie-in-law who "really likes spicy food" (ha!) thought was too hot. We had starters, of course. I had the Prawn Puree which is a personal favourite. It was a little doughy but the flavour was great. The wife had onion bharjis which she said were dry but would've been great if she'd liked any of the sauces available (she's a bit of a selective eater). Around the table various other starters were tried and no complaints were heard. By the time my main arrived I discovered that I may have overindulgence on the poppadoms and starters. The main I had was something I'd never seen before. It was called Pudina Gosht and it was amazing. Minted lamb cooked with honey, lemon and spices. It was a dark minty green and smelled fantastically fresh. As I was a bit full I just used my keema naan to mop up some sauce and took the rest home so I can relive it for lunch today. Others around the table tried the mixed grill which came to the table sizzling, chicken madras, chicken korai, saag bharji, various rices and breads. Everyone was really happy with. When the bill came I was shocked. £180 for 11 people!! I was expecting it to be well over £200. We'll definitely be going back to Jaflong again. It may not be soon but the wait will definitely be worth it. If you can get to Dulwich, go to Jaflong and indulge in some spectacular Indo-Bangladeshi cuisine.

I am genuinely surprised this hasn't been discovered by a Yelper yet - it's a fantastic place to…read moregrab an Indian bite! It's always full to the brim in here, so it's best to book well in advance. The place plays host to all of the local celebrities (by 'all' I mean about 2), and has been critically acclaimed by the Observer. It's a definite hotspot in SE London. The food is perfectly cooked. I have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed. Of course, they have all of the greats that usually appear on an Indian starter menu - bhajis, samosas, dhal, and who could forget the popadoms served with home made pickles. Try not to fill up on them before the mains - a rookie mistake made in all good restaurants. The paneer tandoori is delicious, almost so delicious that you forget about the guilt you would usually feel if you were eating a plate of grilled cheese elsewhere. Slightly different to the usual curry houses, here you pick your main meat/veg and then choose from the list how you would like it to be cooked. It's great for those who are particular about their curry! Tandoori Nights is a classy, stylish and sophisticated Indian restaurant, well deserving of its food awards. The prices do reflect the quality of the food meaning it's not necessarily cheap, but if it's good food you're after then this is the place to head to. Just book early to avoid disappointment!

Tandoori Nights is a welcome change to much of the Indian food I've had in London: Light,…read morewell-prepared food, great service, open late and excellent prices. The key difference here is the wonderful absence of excessive oil in the curry: too often food at Indian restaurants can be too heavy, caused by excessive amounts of oil/butter being added to fill out the curry. Here, that's nowhere to be seen, allowing you to enjoy the array of flavours in the curry and fill up on the generous servings of rice instead. The beer served is the usual Kingfisher. Desserts are pre-prepared ice-cream dishes, which my friend and I declined. Overall, comfortably above-average.

Dishoom Covent Garden is a modern Indian restaurant inspired by the Irani cafés of Bombay,…read morecombining traditional Indian flavors with a vintage atmosphere and carefully designed interior. We walked into a space that felt different from a typical Indian dining experience because of the attention to detail in the décor, lighting, and overall atmosphere. The room had a classic yet lively feel, with a balance between old-world charm and a more upscale restaurant setting that made it feel like a place we could enjoy for both a casual meal or a special occasion. The food is the biggest reason to visit, with a menu that focuses on bold flavors and a mix of traditional dishes and modern interpretations. We ordered a few items and found the Chicken Ruby one of the standout dishes, with tender chicken and a rich, flavorful sauce that had a good balance of spices without becoming overwhelming. The Black Daal is another signature item and is worth trying because of its slow-cooked texture and deep flavor, with a comforting quality that paired well with the naan and other breads from the menu. Beyond the more well-known dishes, Dishoom has a variety of smaller plates that made it easy to try different flavors. The Gunpowder Potatoes and Okra Fries were great options if we wanted something to share, while dishes like lamb chops, biryani, and paneer provided more variety depending on our preferences. The menu had enough options for both people looking for familiar Indian dishes and those wanting to explore something different. The drinks are also an important part of the experience, especially the chai. The restaurant's chai has become one of its most recognizable items and fit well with the café-inspired concept. Having a warm drink alongside the food added to the overall atmosphere and made the meal feel more complete rather than just focused on the main dishes. One thing to keep in mind is that Dishoom can get very busy, especially during peak dinner hours. Reservations are helpful when available, but the restaurant also manages walk-ins with a queue system. If we did have to wait, the complimentary chai while waiting was a nice touch and made the process feel less inconvenient. The Covent Garden location was also in a convenient area for exploring nearby attractions before or after our meal. The team moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the experience smooth without feeling rushed. Overall, Dishoom Covent Garden is one of the most memorable Indian dining experiences in London. The combination of flavorful food, unique atmosphere, and thoughtful service makes it stand out from a standard Indian restaurant. Between the signature dishes, café-inspired design, and welcoming environment, it is a place we would recommend adding to a London itinerary, especially for anyone looking to experience Indian cuisine in a different way.

From what I know of traditional South Indian cooking, it also was pretty authentic. From many Indian dining experiences in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where Indian is quite standard, I'd say this compares with what I'm used to in terms of deliciousness :) I liked the interior, which felt both trendy and laid-back at the same time. The location's nice, right near the Peckham Rye station. Service was friendly and I was given extra hot peppers to accompany my meal at no extra cost. The only drawback, for me, are the prices, which seem to be on the high side. Of course, since we aren't in Kerala, we can't get an entire, delicious, gigantic meal for under £5. We're in London, so prices are higher. But this place would be more of a gem if it's prices were a little more appealing.
