Outdoor seatings available. Presentation of food was excellent. It was colourful, eye pleasing, generous portions and on lovely platewares. Food wise was slightly up and down. I thought the sides that we chose were amazing. The chilli squid look lush, skillfully scored, properly deep fried and sprinkled with plenty of chilli powder. If not careful, you'll chocked on the chilli. With the dipping sauce I felt it was perfect. Our second side was the ebi katsu. The prawns, butterflies, battered was also done well. The batter was just the right thickness and prawns still moist. Both the fried dishes were not oily. The grilled tuna main was cooked to medium but the fish was under seasoned and texture was tough and compact. The quinoa was also bland. Generous portion size, though. Pad Thai lacked all the great flavours of sweet and sour. It has more beansprouts than noodles. Presentation was great but a huge let down. Chicken katsu curry was quite a plateful. The side of raw salad was colourful and fresh but the glossiness of the rice and a thick starchy looking sauce that quite pleasantly blankets the dish seemed a little sweet. I was not sure if I'd like the dish but I'd certainly would not order it again. Duck ramen was also meh, blandest of them all. Fried banana and caramel ice-cream was a good pairing. The caramel ice-cream was smooth lovely with a mouthful of banana. It was terribly busy and drinks were late. Food came sporadically so we could not eat together. Newly opened, teething problems but if it was a chain, they should have got their act together.

I did not know what a hopper was before then (let alone seen one), so it was an interesting surprise when I was served this unevenly thick, bowl-shaped rice pancake. Fortunately, I did not go wrong with this choice, as the hopper was so delicious. The light rice-based flavour of the hopper paired so nicely with the rich, slightly spicy curry and the tender and savoury chicken, and I really liked the textural variety of the hopper itself (thicker, spongier base and thinner, crispier sides). The ratio of hopper to curry was not quite right, though, so I ended up ordering another roti to enjoy the remaining half of my curry and chicken. The roti was really delicious -- fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside -- and similarly paired super well in carrying the curry flavour. All in all, price point was pretty solid for the quality and amount of food. I thought the hopper was pricier than expected, but conversely the curry was less so -- so overall it all seemed quite reasonable. The menus were largely in dark type on a black background all but impossible to read in the subdued lighting. And the 10% added to the bill for service is a habit that I thought had died out. I prefer to decide for myself how much of a tip I want to leave, and make sure it goes to the right person. As an aside: why don't foreign restaurants get a native English speaker to proof-read their menus? Some of the errors can be hilarious!
