Inside are the original old beams and the walls are adorned with historic photos and trinkets probably from the old pub collection. We were welcomed by efficient and friendly staff who displayed the epitome of service with a smile :o) We were struck by a number of unusually named (to us at least) dishes on the menu but most of the usual suspects were there. I can't remember exactly what we had but the gauge by which every Indian restaurant must be gauged is the 'Onion Bhaji' and the Papadam did not disappoint we also sampled the 'Chat on a Puri' which was delicious. A very reasonable meal, well executed in an intriguing venue. We will be back! I've seen on a couple of the listing type websites that the Papadam do not do take-away but whilst we were there a gentleman definitely ordered and 'took away'! So much so that my brother (who could eat for England) had to go up to one of the waiters half way through to ask if the new plate of food that had just arrived was finally the main meal or not - it wasn't! We were completely stuffed by the time the main meals actually arrived! The food was delicious and they even catered for a nut allergy sufferer (most Indians use nut oil, almonds etc. but the Viceroy were happy to omit these) Will definitely be back.
