Stunningly gorgeous! I love all of Patapsco. Peaceful and a great place to go hiking.

Hiking trails and a little river for wading.
Elle Z.

A nice park with a river, best for hiking and wading (No place here for a party). If you take the trails to walk downstream (left from the over pass, not under it) about 1.5 miles, there is an area with quite a few larger rocks and a bit of rapids (fun). The water is a bit deeper there as well. Bring your own trash bag or keep it in your car, I didn't see any cans here.

Not enough parking. You literally wait for people to leave the few spaces available. Open a parking area for people to enjoy the park

Good local park. Many biking and walking paths. A few hiking sections with waterfalls. A few water holes to chill and sun bathe in.

The trail could use some maintenance but it's a nice getaway from the city. The trail features large rocks (obviously) and a small stream. There are a few shallow bodies of water that along the trail that is perfect for little ones to play in the stream (at your own risk). It's very relaxing for relaxing in nature, deep breathing or reading a book. The park does have a restroom and 1 pavilion appears to have a grill. There is plenty of parking for a intimate event or family gathering. Overall, this is a cute little park that offers nature close to the city. Fyi: the rocks can be slippery when wet so wear sturdy shoes or hiking sandals.

For this reason, it feels very safe since there are houses and people around not too far from the middle of this park. Very good parking lot and clear map when you enter. Playgrounds and covered pavilion/picnic areas too! Even though it is small, there are a lot of trail options, you can mix and match them and make it as short or long as you want. Last time I was there I did a mixture of the inner and outer trails and it was just under 2 miles. The trails are not marked well, they are a little confusing and I get turned around every time I go there, and I am pretty good with directions! Make sure to take a picture of the map before you enter! Overall it is a very easy hike though, not a lot of steep inclines. The best part about it though is the water. It is known for the rocks obviously and small waterfalls. It is very peaceful and pretty. Someone made chairs out of tree branches at one point in the trail, that was kind of cool!

Locked toilet area. Overflowing large barrels for trash. So, WHAT EXACTLY was all the hoopla about getting this "dog park" installed? Just go to any dog park areas downtown and you will love the difference. Ground is taken care of, waste bags and receptacles in place. Like care and forethought were given. I didn't see any info there on how to join. I suspect it's a neighbor running it who may not want people to join. Hard to say. Otherwise it's very odd that the only place with information on the park won't share it with the public. I almost gave up trying to join (and I literally live down the street), but then one day I saw this application at the library. It says to mail it in. I haven't tried yet. I hope that works. If not, then I have no idea how to get the gate code. It's almost like no one wants you to join. What a weird concept for a public dog park. Anyway attached is the application if it's helpful. FYI you need a city dog license and updated rabies cert to join (if you can figure out how to join!).

Me and my friends made a quick stop on the way home from brunch in the Cross Keys area, and the day was perfect for it. The park was alive with families and their furry friends just having small picnics and taking in the scenery. If you're not familiar with Sherwood Garden's, it's a privately owned community park in the Guilford section of Baltimore City. It's been famous for its annual tulip since the 1920's by John Sherwood, whose home bordered the park. To this day up to 70000 tulips are planted annually along with other flowers such as magnolias and dogwoods to name a few. Best time to visit is always towards the end of April and beginning of May. Although a private park, the public is always invited to stroll at your leisure throughout the grounds. The ongoing displays are 100% privately funded and depends entirely on contributions to fulfill its mission of providing a natural place for recreation for the community and related education.

There is no start or end, so just park on one of the surrounding streets and walk over. We were there the third weekend in April, and while the tulips were definitely past their peak, and many were completely gone, there were plenty of flower beds of tulips still blooming. Plus, almost all of the azaleas were blooming. I loved that they had so many different colored tulips and azaleas. They did different combination of colors in all the different flower beds, so we ended up seeing some surprisingly beautiful displays, even with some tulips no longer blooming. We weren't there very long because it was cold out, but this would be a great spot for engagement pictures or a picnic.
