NOTE: I am not a wine enthusiast so this review might be slightly biased
This was part of the winery tour (Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Tour) that my partner and I signed up for. Unlike most other estates, Gundog grows its graphes in Canberra, not Hunter Valley. Therefore, it is a relatively small compound.
There are two section within the cellar door. One section consists of a big dining table and a counter (for wine tasting), while the other side consists of a "cafe" with cakes/ pastries and food (e.g honey comb in a jar/ sauces / jams) for sale.
Gundog's wine tasting list is also not as long as other estates but some of them are pretty good ! This estate was, in fact, my favourite part of the winery tour because of the platter which they served to compliment with their wines. The platter consisted of three different of cheese (Beer / Blue Cheese and Gruyere) , dried grapes, dates, smoked meat and crackers. Everything tasted sooooooooo good !! My partner and I could not stop eating and almost forgotten about the wines !
I could definitely recommend this place! Stop by for a cuppa and snacks or head straight to the cellar door for some wine!
two thumbs up :) read more
