First of all, let me say that this place's greatest attribute is the customer service ! Their bbq was all so good but their sides could stand alone as entrees if they had to. We had brisket, turkey, chicken, ribs as meats. The sides we tried were beans, elote, potato salad, Mac n' cheese. First thing they did when we arrived was served my grandson a cup of Mac n' cheese before we even ordered. They somehow knew he was hungry and got him taken care of. This place is a must try for any visitors. Additionally, if the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce are reading; this place knows how to greet visitors to your city, take notice here! They do not tell nor is it on the menu to show that each order comes with white bread, raw onions, and pickles on top. I would eat here again when we are stopping through Rockport. I had the Elote bowl and ribs with coleslaw. All of which was delicious. Ribs are best eaten immediately because when warm, they really do come off the bone. The elote bowl was better cold and eaten second day dare I say. My husband did find some of his food (Turkey and Mac & Cheese) to be a little bland. Sausage was decent to both of us! It's in a great location, especially when leaving Rockport for the afternoon. I see a lot of comments about the gentlemen (with the beard) behind the counter. No, he's not overtly friendly (which doesn't bother me) but he gets the orders right, gives HUGE portion sizes, and was friendly enough for us to enjoy the experience. I was there this past weekend. We got there about 20 min early before opening. We parked in the parking lot and waited. The owner came out to our car and welcomed us in early. He was super cool! I got the 2 meat plate with brisket and pork belly. Everything was delicious even the potato salad and beans slapped. And the elote corn was fire! First time visiting this place and had some high hopes based on the previous reviews. I will go into details, but it was not bad and I will try them again. The location is pretty easy to find and they have ample parking if you get there early. I have to assume the summertime will be packed. The ordering is simple and fast. They do accept credit cards and have contactless payment methods. Inside is kinda cramped, but they make good use of the space they have. If your coming with a large group, you might plan to sit outside on the patios. On to the food.. First off, the brisket had a great smoke flavor but was on the dry side. It's tough to eat a dry brisket for me. However they do give you plenty. The sausage also had a good flavor, just again on the dry side. Now the beans and potato salad were a totally different thing. They were great with lots of flavor and big portions. Their BBQ sauce is interesting and I have not quite figured it out. The only other time I tasted something similar was at Franklins in Austin (and that's a big compliment). I will definitely give them another try and update the review accordingly. read more

Stopped in at Gummie's for lunch 9/26/25. Shared a large brisket sandwich, sides of potato salad and elote, and a peach cobbler dessert with my wife. Brisket was so flavorful, tender, and plentiful. Sandwich included a dry slaw. Not really needed, but appreciated that it was dry and did not include mayonnaise. Potato salad and elote were both outstanding, and the peach bourbon cobbler was one of the best desserts I've ever had. Nice guy running the place by himself. This was my first time at Gummies. I absolutely loved it. First thing was the butch paper menu that was hand written, thats always a good sign. Now on to the food. I had brisket, ribs, sausage, Mac n cheese, elote, pork belly burnt ends, turkey and chicken thigh. The food was very good and just good ole school bbq. The brisket was tender, juicy and would slice through tender with a fork. The bark was very good salty and peppery at the same time like brisket supposed to be. The turkey I freaking loved. No crazy rubs just good ole smoke all through that turkey. You really got the turkey and smoke flavor that complimented each other very well. The pork belly burnt Ed's were really good. Great bark, peppery also sweet in the sauce but wasn't overpowering. I really loved them. Ribs were tender, with a great rub that was well balanced. Did I mention by now not once did I ever pick up BBQ sauce and didn't need to. The sausage was V&V, you can't go wrong with that, it's always tasty. The chicken thigh was good and moist. Would have like more season down to the brown on it but good perfectly. The Mac and cheese were good and creamy. Could've use some SPG on the Mac but once I ate some with brisket that did the trick. The elote was very good and well dressed. Overall I'll be back and I enjoyed the food. The owner was a super nice guy and this food for how much you got was not expensive at all. I been to a Michelin Guide bbq spot in Houston (Killen's), Gummies bbq blew that out the water. It wasn't even close. We finally got to stop at Gummies. Let me tell you, we have been disappointed by many Bbq spots, but this place killed it!! I had a loaded tater. Now I was expecting tots but this was a small football sized baked potato loaded with butter, pinto beans, cheese, pulled pork and what ever else. This thing was soooo big I had breakfast and lunch ready the next day. My wife had the brisket sandwich with mac n cheese. Unreastically HUGE sandwich topped with pickles, onions, and slaw. When I ordered food, the man taking my order did not seem to want to be there and was giving me and my friends an attitude. After we ordered he went to the back and made our food, but the people behind us had to wait in line for an unreasonable amount of time. The barbecue was dry and not that good overall. The brisket melts in your mouth! And the bark was spicy and flavorful. The Smoked Turkey was absolutely moist and delicious.
