This place is a great Hotel. They have very good rates, it's very clean and the people that work here are very friendly and helpful.

We came here to escape hurricane Irma. So glad we stopped here. This hotel is so nice. It is clean, nicely decorated and very affordable. We got a two bedroom hotel room with a kitchenette, a little dining table and a full size refrigerator. We brought our two dogs with us. They are very pet friendly. And they have nice walking places for you to let your dogs out. For three people and two dogs it was just over $100. They have plenty of parking. The bathrooms are very nice. They also have a lot of comfortable and cute little seating areas for you to enjoy the views. Located across the street from the beach. It is a great fine. Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful. There's plenty of parking and it is a great deal. I highly recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the Mexico Beach Florida area.

Gulf View Motel is quite the little gem.

To our surprise the motel was super clean, the room was spacious, all the amenities you'd expect, and a great view from our second floor balcony.

I did not stay there before the hurricane, so I can't speak to how the resort use to be; but I can tell you that it's a great place today. They recently in the past 6 months reopened to the public after an extensive reconstruction and remodal. They did a fantastic job keeping the "Old Florida" charm as well as upgrading to more modern amenities. I could not be more pleased by the friendliness and knowledge of the staff running the El Governor. They were super awesome the entire stay and went out of their way to anwser any questions we had or make recommendations for us. They even noticed that the rate we paid online was higher than the special they were running and adjusted our bill accordingly. It's always nice to get money back. The updated rooms were very clean and inviting. I love the fact that you can walk in the front door of the room and walk out the back to your own private balcony. Did I mention all rooms have a balcony facing the beach and gulf? That's awesome! Also every room sports a kitchenette with a range/oven, sink, microwave, full size refrigerator, Kurig, and is stocked with everything you need to cook (dishes, pots & pans, and utinsels). The room we were in had 2 full size beds that were very comfortable. The television in the room has a lot of channels and you are able to use mobile mode to stream your favorite movies and shows. The hotel amenities include a nice new heated pool, small splash pad, gazebo with swings and chairs, a new bar area (to be open soon), and it's right on the beach with access. There is even a gift shop with souvenirs, snacks, wine, beer, and even a small selection of liquor. Across from the hotel is an RV park for guests who enjoy bringing their RVs down for a visit. I will warn you about the parking; it can be a little tricky as it's tight. This past weekend the hotel was packed out and it was difficult getting a space in front of the hotel. There is overflow parking across the street in front of the RV lot if the parking lot does get filled up; or you have a larger vehicle. We enjoyed our visit so much that I'm planning another visit in the next couple of months; once it's warmer outside.

We will be back! There are not many stores. A few food trucks and maybe a few restaurants. Very small and peaceful.

There is a grocery store right across the street. The deck off our room was great for morning coffee and evening ice cream. The owner who manages the motel is friendly and very helpful. Cons: the kitchenette is very, very basic. The reason we booked here over the El Govenor was for the kitchenette and we were very disappointed in the lack of utensils and dishes. The cupboards and drawers were dirty inside. The coffee maker needs to be replaced or thoroughly cleaned. The air conditioner is also very loud. We turned it off at night, slept without blankets and listened to the waves. Cleanliness. I had no doubt the bedding was clean but the floors were very dirty upon arrival. I remove my shoes when walking in a door and When I took off my motorcycle boots and socks to walk around and unpack, my feet were sandy and dirty within minutes. There are no brooms or floor cleaning items provided and the room isn't serviced at all during the stay. It's a good thing I brought extra soap because we needed it. There are also no beach towels provided. We had to buy those across the street. To be fair, I think many families and couples coming to Mexico Beach arrive in fully packed cars, not on a motorcycle or flying in from elsewhere. The other guests appeared to be those well prepared families. That said, at $130 USD a night, I expected a cleaner room and more conveniences like dishes, daily room cleaning (especially floors given the sand factor!) and beach towels.

It's literally right on the beach, management is amazing, when you come here you feel like your heart is at home. Clean, convenient, perfect. If you pick up some fresh seafood at Shell Shack, and some charcoal at Gulf Foods, there's a grill available to cook an amazing dinner right while you listen to the waves crash/watch the sunset! The only thing I'll say though Is if sound bothers you, you should stay upstairs as it's quieter during the evening/night. Recently, they've repainted the exterior and are now a turquoise color. You get access to the bay from the attached dock and they have a few things for rental like kayaks, canoes, bikes. They also have a hot tub but people hop in early so it's always full Parking lot is small so basically 1 car/room Wendy is wonderful & so is Shay who comes to help when it's full. This past visit they made us quiche one day and waffles another and both meals were delicious and plenty of food to be full from. They also do coffee, orange juice and fruit water in the morning They have a communal microwave and dishware to use and rooms get their own little fridge They have access to the beach across the street and there's a convenience store across the street too. A few restaurants close by but port st Joe is a small and quiet town so the beach isn't crowded hardly ever You can go catch scallops during the late summer, if I recall and it gets pretty busy then Lots of locals eating at the same restaurants in the area so don't expect 5 star dining but the food is pretty good and seafood is fresh in the area Small park nearby as well and lots of seashells
