The City of Ashland has cash incentives for solar, so if you can qualify for that, it can really accelerate your returns. But, things could start changing in 2018 based on current laws on the books, so 2017 is a good year to investigate. Other towns might have their own local incentives too. We did a 14-panel installation with True South Solar, and the end-to-end experience was truly top notch. We had a few meetings with Wade, one of their sales guys, and he could answer every question and go over details both broad and specific. After he spent time surveying our roof, and writing up a proposal, we knew it was a good thing to pursue. Installation was quick and the crew couldn't have been nicer or more courteous. They finished most of the work in a day, and now a lot of our energy needs are powered by the sun! Clean energy. Positive ROI. Easy end-to-end process! We went with True South Solar because they use the high-end panels that are made by SunPower, which has a higher efficiency over its lifetime. Since we also just installed a new roof recently, we wanted to get the most benefit for the longest period of time, and these panels were the way to go for us. After the no-pressure sales pitch, we were pretty convinced. Even if you're not sure yet, it's worth giving these guys a call and they can do a free assessment of what is possible for you. Appointment time came and went. The guy was a no show. Didn't call, either. A couple of hours after the appointment time, I called their office. Got the standard outgoing "sorry we missed your call blah blah blah" so I left the standard name-number-reason for calling message. Here we are in late June, and I'm still waiting for the call back. I would love to have solar panels with the energy storage battery system, but if they are this unreliable before we even get started, I will respectfully pass. I will continue to look for a company who actually wants to do business and respects their scheduling commitments. To waste my time (that I took off work for this appointment) and not even follow up with a return call tells me all I need to know. Kinda feels like dodging a bullet.

The only working link was for their salesperson (a few clicks into the website to find that) and their solar inquiry sheet, so we reached out both ways. You'd think the SALES person would be responsive, but nope, nada, nothing for a week. When we finally heard from Ciera, she actually said they were "too busy" to even talk to us to right now (even though our project wouldn't be til 2018 and we just were asking for some basic information) and that they would not be available til the end of the month. I am a small business owner and I would never have the NERVE to tell someone looking to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars with me to "reach out later". I emailed back with some basic info on what we were doing (including the house plan link we already had selected), letting her know that it was important we know we have a builder before we buy a lot in the area - because down there there are so few options and they were one of the only ones who seemed to focus in sustainable building, so we didn't want to get stuck with a property and no one who had a clue how to build in an environmentally friendly way. Another week passes and she says she is going to refer us to their designer / co-owner. Another week passes and Shannon Souza finally emails asking us what we want to talk about - not mentioning the tons of information we'd already provided. I asked her if she had read our emails with our details and she said yes, and asked if she could send us her questions via email or do this over the phone. I responded (within hours) over email. Again, another week passes. In the meantime, we're getting closer and closer on a property we like and planning a trip to the area to do a final review before hopefully making an offer (literally 4 days from now). Emailed one last time a couple of days ago expressing both our interest and frustration, including our plans to be in the area, and..NOTHING. Clearly Shannon and Ciera and their team could care less about getting customers. Guess that's why their website has no contact information, because they don't plan on responding anyhow! We needed work done on our old Pace Arrow, and an acquaintance strongly recommended this business. I gave a call and spoke to Ryan for a while. He was very courteous and knowledgeable and willing to answer our questions. I didn't feel rushed or condescended to, or treated like I was some ignorant RVer who knows nothing about my rig. The truth is, I *don't* know much about our old rig or its myriad workings. It didn't matter to Ryan; nor did it to Harold, whom I spoke with in a subsequent call. That was very important to me. I've had many dealings with mechanics of all stripes, and I can say categorically that most are asses. They'll talk down to you; and then, because you are ignorant about carburetors or fuel injection or seals or brakes or what-have-you, take great delight in ripping you off. That didn't happen with Harold and Ryan at Brookings Harbor RV. We made an appointment with them; they consulted with us for free (Harold actually came out to take a look at our rig and answer questions, free of charge!), and then, with the appointment, did a wonderful, efficient, and friendly job. We're very, very pleased with their professionalism and honesty. Businesses are like people. Most suck. Which makes the good ones stand out even more. When you find a good business--one whose owners and employees truly care for their customers or patrons, you hang on to them, and you recommend them. Brookings Harbor RV is one of those good businesses. We'll be calling them the very next time we need our old girl looked at.
