My four older children developed a lifelong passion for band and music because of this lovely store. Henson's family run music store is deeply missed in Camarillo. The Camarillo music store staff helped my four children survive and thrive after the death of a sibling. Music helped my surviving children so much! Music can be so healing. Music helps students academically in math and reading and to focus well when children play instruments beginning in fourth grade or sixth grade through twelfth grade. Playing in band or orchestra helps students be organized and concentrate. it improves self esteem too. Again, music helped to save my four surviving children emotionally. Thank you to the wonderful Henson family! It is truly rare to find such knowledgeable and caring staff in a special family music store. There are many young sales people at other music stores who seem to lack the ability to care about other human beings or develop any concern to learn much about instruments. It appears to be just a job for these sales people. So, it is such a blessing to know Lisa at Henson's Music Center in Oxnard who absolutely understands customer's needs and has excellent values to help them continue loving music. It is their passion to help people gain a love for music and playing instruments. Excellent job Oxnard for having such a great family run music store! I highly recommend you drive to Oxnard to meet Lisa, Lucy, her mother and their caring, knowledgeable staff or extended family. That is why loyal customers keep returning to Henson's Music Center in Oxnard. Customers never need distant or seemingly uncaring music store salespeople. People need knowledgeable and caring music professionals to help transform their lives through music. Thankfully, Henson's Music Center is still in Oxnard. Lisa Henson looked over an almost brand new Yamaha Tenor Sax 480 to check how well it worked. She is a remarkable person. My fifth child and youngest son, is forever grateful to Lisa Henson for her help. The Henson family at Henson's Music Center and their caring staff in Oxnard put so much loving effort into excellent repairs on instruments, lessons and every interaction with all customers. Their authentic nature shines through in all their interactions with people. I highly recommend you drive to Henson's Music Center in Oxnard and avoid any sales people in nearby music stores. The drive to Oxnard especially on side streets, past lovely fields is enjoyable. Plus, the parking is great near this inviting and warm music store. You will be forever changed by the entire knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I'm FROM oxnard and have been coming here since I was a teen, and have never met such a clueless, useless, and high idiot as I did this time. Guy with long hair and tattoos was more stoned than I've ever seen someone on the clock, even worse than a dispensary. Couldn't find the guitar on the wall in the back, forgot what he was doing twice in the process, and had trouble forming whole sentences. I watched someone steal at least $70 worth of shit and said nothing because of this foolish man-child's attitude. You'd be better off trying out what you want here then buying online elsewhere or at a better store, not worth the hassle or the upcharge.

Having received professional vocal training for high school, college and community productions earlier in my life proved invaluable, and I wanted my daughter to have a similar experience and really learn the technique, discipline and *joy* of effective performing/singing. Laurel was incredible- not only was my daughter sounding stronger and better within a day of her first lesson, Laurel taught her some hacks for how to deliver on those high notes that usually require head voice, how to handle diphthongs and so much more. Her approach is joyful and fun and this - coupled with her experience and getting actual noticeable results- made my daughter excited for each lesson. My daughter is now "show ready", thanks to Laurel. We cannot recommend her enough.

She explained that all the instructors are very culturally correct and that's very important to me when it comes to learning. The floor has a pretty large space enough for probably 10-15 students to dance in. I would love to watch the drumming as well. As for the Tahitian class, I was told that they have anywhere from 5-10 drummers and that's very exciting! I can't wait to see/hear it soon! I parked in the next block but I saw plenty of street parking and it's right on Main St. and was easy to find. It totally took me instantly back to my Burning Man experiences...can't wait till that either...

She teaches a lot of kids but I see adults there as well. One thing I really like to do is go to the recitals she hosts. At these recitals she allows the opportunity for her students to perform for an audience of parents, friends and peers. I've actually played my violin at one of the recitals and she allowed me to bring a bunch of friends so we could make up a band!
