My family bought various instruments for twenty years from Henson's Music Store in Camarillo, CA…read more We always loved this family owned music store because of the loving care we received. My four older children developed a lifelong passion for band and music because of this lovely store. Henson's family run music store is deeply missed in Camarillo. The Camarillo music store staff helped my four children survive and thrive after the death of a sibling. Music helped my surviving children so much! Music can be so healing. Music helps students academically in math and reading and to focus well when children play instruments beginning in fourth grade or sixth grade through twelfth grade. Playing in band or orchestra helps students be organized and concentrate. it improves self esteem too. Again, music helped to save my four surviving children emotionally. Thank you to the wonderful Henson family! It is truly rare to find such knowledgeable and caring staff in a special family music store. There are many young sales people at other music stores who seem to lack the ability to care about other human beings or develop any concern to learn much about instruments. It appears to be just a job for these sales people. So, it is such a blessing to know Lisa at Henson's Music Center in Oxnard who absolutely understands customer's needs and has excellent values to help them continue loving music. It is their passion to help people gain a love for music and playing instruments. Excellent job Oxnard for having such a great family run music store! I highly recommend you drive to Oxnard to meet Lisa, Lucy, her mother and their caring, knowledgeable staff or extended family. That is why loyal customers keep returning to Henson's Music Center in Oxnard. Customers never need distant or seemingly uncaring music store salespeople. People need knowledgeable and caring music professionals to help transform their lives through music. Thankfully, Henson's Music Center is still in Oxnard. Lisa Henson looked over an almost brand new Yamaha Tenor Sax 480 to check how well it worked. She is a remarkable person. My fifth child and youngest son, is forever grateful to Lisa Henson for her help. The Henson family at Henson's Music Center and their caring staff in Oxnard put so much loving effort into excellent repairs on instruments, lessons and every interaction with all customers. Their authentic nature shines through in all their interactions with people. I highly recommend you drive to Henson's Music Center in Oxnard and avoid any sales people in nearby music stores. The drive to Oxnard especially on side streets, past lovely fields is enjoyable. Plus, the parking is great near this inviting and warm music store. You will be forever changed by the entire knowledgeable and friendly staff.

We arrived early and the place was nearly empty. I walked around their DVD area and picked up one my son wanted. I then went to purchase the new Arianna album with my other selections. The lady at the register was very nice and informative. She gave me some freebies since I was getting the album, which was a pleasant surprise. The DVDs were a little expensive ($5) but they have cheaper sections (near the front doors) so you can surely find something good there. I will definitely return as they also have a neat 2nd floor that has some nice gifts and other trinkets.

So yesterday when I wanted to play La Bamba on my equally venerable guitar, one of the strings popped. So I reluctantly had to find a new source of replacement strings. I'm happy to report that Nick Rail abundantly filled the bill. Nice helpful staff, prices that don't drive you to the internet, and a store filled not just with guitars, but also keyboards, drums, and horns. School band members rent and shop here, too. Also dealing with children whose first or second year being employed and or running the store. So this Michael, curly haired man was telling me that they didn't have a book I wanted so I was going to resort to the normal route-buying it on Amazon and getting it shipped to my door the next day. But he insisted that he can get it transferred from another store and it'll be three days tops, he took my info down and said he'll give me a ring after it arrives. And I wanted to support local so I waited the old school way. After two weeks went by I didn't get a call or text so I decided to call them and this lady picks up and said yes they do have it. I came in the store and they didn't have it and he went off angry and screaming at me basically because I'm a dummy - 'like if you don't put a deposit down, you won't get it.' He was saying it all fast paced and clearly very annoyed of me. I mean what are they busy doing? All of the instruments I've touched are all dusty and ragged looking and most are made in china and doubled the price of online. He initially told me I didn't even need to put a deposit and now he's screaming at me and irritated at me and arguing back and forth with a customer. Unprofessional and milks the hourly doing nothing. I hope no one supports this outdated looking and made in china products store. If you want great customer service from all departments for music- go to Santa Maria, Oxnard or Westlake Village for The Guitar Center, they are super professional and they're actually rockstars that will keep you and/or your child inspired.
