GUITAR CENTER makes it affordable and easy. Their prices are the same as the competition... More importantly, they trust you for 45 DAYS to test your new keyboard. I went through several purchases until I settled on one. Can you imagine the shipping costs I would have endured to return several online purchases? By now return shipping would have equaled the price of the keyboard... BUT GUITAR CENTER never charged me for restocking... not one cent, ever. Now more about the Motto to my story... I am talking about the best store manager ... His name ironically is Andy Motto. Andy Motto's interest, professionalism, and patience with me made it all happen successfully. He has been with me on my journey that started one year ago... For example, my recent purchase in February 2025 had a couple of bad keys. Andy correctly ordered a replacement which arrived in 10 days, but it was a lesser model. Back it went... with another reorder... yes ... that too from the warehouse was the same lesser model. So... Andy called the central warehouse and figured out what had happened... and today I am driving to Webster TEXAS to pick up the correct replacement --- He even pictured the shipping label to be sure we had the right one. Im not a big review person unless something really good or really bad happened. I also am not a big fan of guitar center for the most part (had issues a bunch of times with my local ny store) seen a drum kit i absolutely had to have and this store had it, so made the purchase on line and had it shipped to ny where I live, it was missing the snare that description said it had. Called the store to see if it was just forgot and was told it wasnt actually with the kit, I was very disappointed BUT then the store manager Andy got on the phone and was very pleasant and apologized about the description being wrong and ordered me a brand new snare shipped to me. Awesome didnt expect that kind of help and was very thankful. He even went so far to over night it to me. If I have to deal with guitar center again I will absolutely deal with this location over any other. read more

This is not going to be short. I recently tried to purchase a guitar from guitar Center over the past 10 years or so I have spent over $20,000 with them. As any other time of purchase, I chose to shop around and found the guitar that I wanted in the price that I wanted to pay for it. I then called guitar center as I normally do and I told him that about 15% off of this particular guitar was fair price. I give them my credit card as I always do. And they got back on and said OK Mr. Vickers do you want six months financing and I said no this guitar right now offers 48 month financing and they said no sir if we give you a discount, we can't give you the 48 months financing. This is a first. When does the retailer get to tell my financing institution synchrony Bank how long they can or cannot finance a guitar for. This is a crock of shit. I've been called synchrony themselves and they agreed. I told them to cancel my credit card due to customer request. I will no longer do business with any retailer ever they can dictate. how long my financer can finance for. Once again there's something very wrong about this not only is there something wrong it seems like it should be something illegal telling me I must pay full market value when they will only offer me 60% of the value whenever I return if I want to trade something in. I hope and pray that if this is the continued practice of guitar center that they will eventually just fold up shop because they absolutely suck. There is something definitely wrong with this picture. And I will be shouting it online to all of my other musician friends to buy local to not deal with guitar center anymore. I purchased a guitar there the salesman didn't have a problem with paying attention to me when I was buying the guitar when I left the store I did not have the Allen wrenches for my Floyd Rose lock nut and tremolo system the next day I went back they were not really excited to help me get those in fact they gave me three Allen wrenches that didn't work for my guitar the only saving grace I went back today and the guitar tech knew what he was doing and he fixed my Floyd rose that the guitar tech at the Pasadena guitar center screwed up read more

This is my 'Walter Mitty' place (look it up). I stink at guitar and other instruments, but I still come here to feel better. I've spent a few dollars here on really nice guitars. I've never felt sales pressure, and the selection is outstanding. There is also a nice selection of strings, and so on. This joint also has a fine selection of drums and other instruments. I'll never go back here again. Went to guitar center for strings and new guitar cord. Stood at the register for about 10 minutes while an employee at another counter 10 feet away was helping inspect a customer snare drum. The employee couldn't even look at me, say let me get you some help. Nothing. That guy goes in back, another employee comes out to place two guitar cases on the wall and starts shooting the breeze with the snare drum customer, employee looks at me a few times while talking, never acknowledged me, never said let me get someone for you, ends up walking away. First employee comes back up front and still ignores me. I left my gear at the register and walked out. Instead I went down the road to Danny D's guitar Hacienda. The guy in there was about my age, walked around the store with me, asked me all kinds of questions and pointed me to all the right gear and decisions on guitar upgrades etc. he took the time to really help me out. DO NOT BUY the insurance plan with Guitar Center. I was told that any damage would be covered including if I drop it and it cracks or even if my dog chewed on it. Forgotten on top of the car it did get obliterated sadly. Everyone said no prob./ it/s covered. Well it's not. The manager Eric did call and try to help me, but even he learned how basically nothing is covered. I just feel like it falls back on Guitar Center now to replace my ukulele as I was told over an over how anything was covered. So...not sure who I'm upset with more. I don't ever leave reviews ever but I downloaded Yelp purely just to leave this review, this Guitar center is the best one I have been too, I have been wanting an acoustic guitar and to learn for a while and finally I went into this store and was treated like family, they had a new employee whose name is Rich and he is awesome! He genuinely wanted to find me the guitar that fit me best, he also showed me a few things to play on the guitar. After buying the guitar I was called about a week later to come in and do a free lesson! So I went in and was treated like family again, the guy doing the lessons was AJ and he was also extremely kind and taught me a few more things, I also got my guitar restrung while there (I wanted easier strings to play on) and they did it super fast, I can't recommend this store enough! read more

Be careful they are liars and rip offs here. The first photo is from Saturday December 21, when I walked in to look into getting a drum set for my son. The cost was marked at $219. However I didn't have the room in my vehicle for it. I specifically asked the salesman if the price could change and was told not until after Christmas. I told him we would be back the following day with my other vehicle to pick it up. Perhaps its my fault for not purchasing immediately and seeing if we could get it the following day, but I trusted his word. The next day, Sunday. Husband and I want in to purchase and instead item was marked up. When we even mentioned this to the salesman he legit said "whats your point. Ugh it's Christmas and I didn't want to have a huge stink but don't like being lied to. However I will never be back. This store used to be the place to go. Now, their amp section is pathetic and many other changes seem to be catering to beginners, rather than more serious or professional musicians. The staff, on numerous occasions, has lied to me about gear in order to make a sale and usually can not answer basic questions about the gear. Instead, they tell you what they think you want to hear. Just to make the sale. It's obvious. It's also quite disappointing. So, if you want to be tricked, manipulated, lied to, and conned, this is you place. In other words, if you're not knowledgeable about the purchase you're making, expect to be taken full advantage of. For the rest of you, if the store is near you and has a piece of gear you need now, enter at your own risk. Otherwise, I'd opt for online order. Sweetwater is extremely good. They have amazing service and extremely knowledgeable sales reps who never pressure you. They're top notch. I also like ordering online from American Music Supply and Zzounds too. Both of them actually let you make payments on gear with no credit check. That's pretty darn cool, especially when something you want is pricey! read more

So typical Guitar Center, typical chain music store. I don't know what's wrong with yelp's map, the listing is the right address. The store is actually located on the corner of Nasa Road One and I45, behind the Chili's and down the strip center from Star Cinema Grill. As far as the instruments go prices are negotiable, so don't be afraid to low ball the sales guys. They work on commission so sometimes a sale is a sale. I purchased a beautiful Ernie Ball Music Man Guitar that I had been drooling over for several trips in tow of the hubby. I made it out of there with it for over half off the sale price tag! MSRP was about 2 grand and I paid $750. I decided try some guitar lessons for fun, sadly a person that suffers from eczema, a skin disorder, cannot play guitar. After I broke down all four finger tips to bloody nubs and trying to keep playing with bandaids, which doesn't work either, I gave up on the lessons. I recently sold my guitar after staring at the beautiful thing just sitting in my house for over 8 years, I sold it for twice what I paid. woo hoo! When you come here expect to wait "in line" for awhile before someone is available to talk to you. Some guys here are a little condescending if you aren't an expert on what you are looking to purchase. If you're a parent and you kid wants to start an instrument don't buy anything from First Act, sold at Wal-Mart. They aren't really cheaper and they will turn out to be a hinderance to learning and might even deter your kid from continuing, because they aren't real instruments, they're really just toys! Come to a real music store or even and pawn shop and you can always find a deal. read more

The SHITTIEST GC I have ever been to. Came to get a power supply for a mixer while on tour in this town. They didn't have any so I was going to buy the mixer I needed to use it for tour and return later (as they recommended). They literally had TWO of the same mixer I needed ON DISPLAY and 15 min later said they didn't have any in the back and tried selling me a different mixer. Why would you display something if you don't carry it? TWICE? The nerd behind the counter told me not to get mad about it because that wouldn't solve the problem when I told him I would take my business elsewhere. Talk about customer service. Then the sales reps had my guitar player waiting 30 minutes to buy guitar picks while they had chats with their friends and had no one watching drums to help my drummer get moon gels. Not going back. Sold me on "making my guitar like new". When I picked it up it had new strings.... they filed some of the bridge, but didn't wipe it after not to mention it looked terrible- filings hanging off.... Top bridge still broken, not fixed. Guitar was wiped to look shiny, but not actually cleaned. Shiny dirt is still dirt. So basically I paid $60 for new stings and a small adjustment on the bridge. What a waste. read more

This used to be my go to place for anything guitar or audio related. Not anymore. I'm done with this Guitar Center. The only person that knows what they are doing is the manager of Pro Audio. Now granted, I've been playing guitar and have been an audio engineer for a while, so I know what I want and I know how to ask the correct questions. I went in a couple weeks ago to buy some strings and had a quick question between 2 sets of strings. When I asked what the overall difference was, the guy behind the counter said "depends on the sound you want bro." That's not what I asked. Then I had another guy (bald with glasses) interrupt and talk down to me and proceed to make fun of me, saying "it's so funny when people ask which one works best. Like I don't know, depends on what you want!" Again, I didn't ask that. I'm not stupid. I didn't appreciate the blatant disrespect. Especially in from of other customers. These guys think they can just say whatever they want. The final straw was 2 days ago. I had a guitar sent to this store from another GC location. I had been wanting it forever. I went in and waited for 20 minutes to get help. Then this guy comes from the back, I tell him I was picking up a guitar I ordered and he looked so confused. Then it clicked. He proceeded to process everything. As he did this I asked about some strap locks. "Sorry bro I work in drums so I can't help you with that." I would have been fine with that answer if he had actually gotten me somebody from guitars. He then started complaining about how tired he was and was talking to another guy about his dinner plans, and how he couldn't wait to get off. Like I get it, days are long but be professional. Actually ACT like you wanna help me! I then played a little bit on the guitar I had bought, then went to ring out for some strings, a strap and some strap locks. This time it was a different guy behind the counter but again, seemed to have zero filter. He said "hey man, get these strap locks. They are only a couple dollars more, they are better, and I really don't make anything by selling them to you." Ok whatever. He then looks at my strap and goes "is this really the one you want? I mean...putting those strap locks on this is like putting $10,000 rims on a Honda Civic." At that point, I had just about had it and just asked him to ring me out. I understand they are commission and that their job is to upsell and recommend, but there are ways to do it. The current people at this location are so unprofessional about it. It's ridiculous. I know it says Guitar Center, but if your looking for keyboards, drums, percussion, amps, sound systems, or just miscellaneous stuff down to guitar picks, straps, or drumsticks, here's your place! They have a really wide selection of name brand guitars, electric and acoustic, six string, twelve string, Basses, also electric or acoustic, banjos, mandolins, the list just goes on and on. If they don't have it, they can order it!!! They have one room set up with nothing but acoustic guitars and there is starting so that you can sit down and pick on one to get the certain sound your looking for. But, it's not just limited to acoustics. You can pick any guitar you want to check out and plug it in to any amp you want to give it a test ride!!! If nothing else just go in and have a look around. The also give guitar lessons, have classes on home recording studios, recording, the list don't end here! I'll cut to the chase!!! The repair center is a ripoff!!! I took my guitar in to have the nut replaced because it split at the low E string. The saddle for the low E string was also way out of adjustment. I had called initially to get a quote and was told it would be about $40 for parts and labor so I brought the guitar in for the repairs. At the time I brought it in I explained to them that the low E string saddle needed adjustment as well. For starters it took them a whole week to get the repair done. When I went to pick up the guitar I was charged $14 for the part and $30 the nut repair and $30 for a set up which I was explained to that all the strings had been adjusted and was offered to play the guitar to inspect it. I declined since I took the repair guys word and expected him to be honest. Hours later when I got home I pulled the guitar out to play and absolutely nothing was done as far as the setup was concerned!!! All the strings still buzzed and the low E string saddle was untouched!!!! So basically I was lied to and ripped off!!! I paid $86 dollars after all was said and done and the only thing done was the nut repair!!! Damn shame!!! So if you have a repair needed done go elsewhere because I'm sure they'll rip you off too!! read more
