Not the best Guitar Center since it is very small, which means that they have small selections of everything. They have a variety of guitars at this one which is nice but they are mostly the big names like Epiphone and Squier. They have a small selection quality guitars. Their staff is alright. They know what they are talking about for the most part. They have a great selection of amps at this one which is awesome! Mostly model or solid state. After two visits to this particular guitar center store, I felt an extreme urge to write a yelp review on my experience. I visited the store two weeks ago to explore different guitar options because I am in the market for a new guitar. The workers were extremely helpful and they let me and two of my friends try out as many guitars as we wanted and plug into as many different amps as we wanted too. I did not buy anything during this trip to the store because I still was not sure what I want to buy. Customer service was top-notch. Later on, I bought a used guitar from their website. After receiving it in the mail last week and trying it out, I decided it was not for me and I wanted to return it under the 45 day return policy. I called the 1-800 number on the website and they told me I could go into the Peoria store and return the guitar easily. They were right. The process for returning the guitar was very smooth and easy. I decided to have them credit my account and use the credits towards the purchase of a different guitar. While the new guitar has not arrived yet, I can say that the return process and ordering process from within the store was a great experience. Ive made a couple of large purchases from Guitar Center in Peoria, and many small purchases. Because of the age difference, I don't always connect well with staff, but they are always courteous and helpful. My first big purchase there was a fiasco, but only because I ordered an instrument that was no longer being manufactured. The staff was accommodating and respectful, even when I had become pushy and demanding. I still buy my strings and cords at GC, and Im eye balling my next big buy. read more

So my Girlfriend went in today to pick up a guitar we had put on layaway, I've been out of town so i couldn't do it myself. The person that "Helped" her was a condescending ass hat. The guy was a jerk and made her feel stupid for not knowing details about the guitar she was picking up, even though it was under her name ( He could have just looked it up), Way to make your customers feel welcome. She called me after getting the guitar, disgruntled and insulted by your associates attitude, she didn't get the guys name, But it was a Vintage 80's Epiphone Acoustic MIJ I'm sure you can find out the associates name that way. Guitar Center, Please stop hiring inept hipsters, that thrive on gear and not on an ounce of talent. Hello, I wanted to inform your company and give kudos to the excellent service that I have received from Ben on two separate occasions in 2019. I live in Houston, Tx. but have some very close friends who live South of Peoria where once or twice a year we will meet in Springfield at their house for a party. As I live in Texas it is imperative that I have someone there who I can communicate with over the phone and get the needed rental equipment setup for pickup, on time, and complete with no surprises. Ben is that person. He makes everything very easy and I am very grateful for the business relationship we have started. My son and I went in to buy him his first electric guitar on December 8. The one he liked best had a couple of messed up strings. Morgan offered to restring it for him, but since the amp he liked was floor model only, we decided to order it, the guitar, and the cable online. Worked out great as the guitar also came in blue (burgundy in store). The amp and cable came in right away, but guitar on backorder, the website indicated. That did not make sense as Morgan had said there were thirty in stock. I called the store and talked to Connor. He called around to see if anyone close by had one and got it shipped from Champaign in just one day! Ben from the store called today to tell us it was in and was able to put his hands on it immediately when we got to the store. Had a terrible experience. While attempting to purchase something they didn't have in stock they directed me to pick up in store. Before that though they were willing to sell me the demo that was available in store without the box, without the necessary chords, and without the software the came with it but refused to give me a discount for it if I were to purchase it. Also the guy that eventually sold me it was completely condescending and lied to me and said that I couldn't do the in store pick up online. Which I have checked and you for sure can do that. I belong in a Christian band and our group was asked to play for a teen gathering for 40-50 high school students. In the process of moving the electronic drum set, one of the brackets for the high hat broke, probably due to fatigue, and I went to a local music shop to purchase a replacement. The owner did not find a replacement and asked me to write my name and phone no. on a post-it-note. A few days later I called that store and reiterated my store and was told that "we are busy". Thinking that they must have had a lot of customers at their counter, I said that I could stop by after work and was again told, "we're busy". So, I said "sorry for bothering you". I went over to Guitar Center and they bent over backwards to help me find a replacement, which I ordered and later picked it up at their store. Granted the replacement part was only $28.00, but I thought that if the other local store wasn't going to help me with a small part, I wasn't going to trust them with a larger purchase. Since then, I have purchased an acoustical electric guitar, molded case, guitar stand and cords. I received some good advice and the sale person was not 'pushy' or try to get me to spend more money. I intend on returning to have them turn my acoustical guitar(nylon strings) into an electric acoustical guitar. I can't say enough about their sales staff- friendly, knowledgeable and actually want to help you with your needs. I intend on making a lot more purchases from the West Lake, Peoria store!
