On September 13, 2024, my wife and I stopped at your store to buy some accessories located behind a counter (we are over 65). There were 3 salesmen behind the counter and one customer who was being waited on. The sale complete, the 3 salesmen left us at the counter and without explanation, moved out of earshot for an extended conversation. When a young woman showed up, they were immediately attentive. I went into Guitar Center to either purchase a small sound system or rent one. It was for my church. I have purchased several guitars and amps (over the years). Generally very pleased with the service. This time the customer service was horrendous!! I had to find someone to help me. One of the customers advised me that I had to help myself. Wahoo!! I found one associate and he told me he was only guitars. Another informed me he was helping a customer that did not exist. Another out right said he did not want to help me. Another - named Luigi - said he couldn't help me. I reminded them that if they work on commissions someone should assist me. Luigi did assist me reluctantly. All the while, he was watching some other customer play the piano. We left after deciding to rent a small system. What I didn't say is that I am planning to purchase a 5-string bass and a Yamaha keyboard (there it was almost $5000). I won't be back! No wonder you are going out of business. HORRIBLY RAN!! Not sure how they run this place, besides very very poorly. The past 3x we have been in, its impossible to get help. The first time, we just needed picks and didn't get any attention tile we went behind the counter to get them ourselves. Second trip, found an electric guitar we wanted to purchase, again took a good 25 minutes to get help, then when we did, no one seemed to know what they did or didn't have "in the back", and at one point, looked at her little hand held, " tells you nothing gadget" and said she wasn't even sure if she could sell it because of how it was entered in the system, something about a sku, which is the same comment we heard today, "the sky is messed up or somethimg.... I don't know what their hand held things are connected to, but apparently NOT their own store. They can't even tell what's new or used in their own store. Either the employees aren't trained whatsoever or they're all incompetent because none of them can answer a question without going to the manager, who is probably both overwhelmed but also extremely unorganized and cannot seem to delegate. Then another 25 minutes to wait for a soft guitar case that was in the back "somewhere" Then godforbid the checkout lane, especially if its fairly busy. That process takes another 30 minutes, once you make it to the register and the one checkout person in the whole store is present and accounted for, lol. I honestly cannot believe this place stays in business or doesn't at least go bankrupt. All this is in reference to the Morse Rd location in Columbus. We are going to the Dayton store at some point to see if they're just as awful, LOL read more

I've been doing business with this GC store for many, many years. close to twenty. Anyway, customer service tends to ebb and flow, bad to good, back to bad, then good, etc. and right now (as of 7/10/23) we are in a "bad" phase. the store is disorganized, dirty and the staff seem more concerned with making certain they get their breaks in, instead of customer care. I'm sorry but there are multiple paths, to get my hands on a product, for GC employees to act as if my needs/wants are beneath them. I've likely forgotten more about guitars and accessories than they currently know, collectively. GC strikes again!!! I make an online order on Nov 12th to be shipped, get a confirmation email saying a tracking order will be emailed once order is processed. November 18th rolls around and no email, so I call, the phone person says she will call and find out what's going on. Later, I get an email saying it's been shipped and should arrive on the 28th. So, GC messes up again and they don't even bother to express ship, 2 day or offer discount. Such poor business etiquette!! They do nothing to make up for their mistakes. This is the worst guitar center we have been to. Rude employees, I heard them talking about other customers when the customers were in the drum department asking for help. The store was so disorganized. Used mixed with new. My husband asked if used with mixed with new. The employee said "well all our used are right here but it looks like it is not. You know people just leave the guitars wherever." Ummmm... shouldn't this be corrected and things put back where it should be. They had a vacuum but it looked like they haven't used it since the last time the browns won a championship. In fact it looked like the store hasn't been picked up or cleaned since then. First the store is a complete MESS. everything is thrown all over the place, no sections to look to find specific instrument related items because merchandise is piled in boxes on the floor. A big miss at this location as far as customer service goes. I never liked coming here due to poor attitudes by the staff, but most recently I was offered a certain amount for my trade one day. It was well within my right to go home and think about the offer. When I returned shortly after I was offered even less by the same associate. It was a big slap in the face. Over the years I've been disappointed with Guitar Center. It used to be my go to because Sam Ash did not take care of customers. Now the last three years they have flipped and Sam Ash is better. I went in looking for deals on a PRS and Strat like guitar with single coils and since Guitar Center has filed bankruptcy I thought maybe I'll get lucky and hope they are pushing stuff out. Nope. That's ok but the service is not good which is why the 2 stars. I mentioned about looking at a Squire Classic Vibe series or any low end Strat on sale that can be easily modified with American upgrades but sales said no (to helping me look) and suggested only expensive guitars instead. Squire Classic Vibe actually has positive reviews from pros and can be easily upgraded with components from the American series Fender which also owns Squire. Only one guy was friendly later when I asked to check out a guitar hanging over the door but left after shortly after handing me the guitar. All the sales reps hang close to each other. Hardly any customers but at least one or two should have been helping customers while the others did inventory or prep work. No mention on deals for Xmas. I left disappointed. read more

If you're shopping for a guitar in Columbus, it's hard to avoid Guitar Center. They have the inventory -- dozens and dozens of varieties of guitars. They have the prices -- likely to beat any local store on new items. They have the laid-back attitude -- Their "pick-it-up-and-try-it" policy beats the needless hovering of other shops any day. Ultimately, it's the Wal-Mart of music stores. Do with that what you will. Of course, the store isn't flawless by any means. The place can be downright abhorrent at times. That's usually when it's overrun with dudes showing off their ax "skills" with the volume up to 11. Also, you won't find many surprises here. Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters surrounded by...well, more Strats and Teles. I'm exaggerating, of course, but the shop does stock lots of the most popular guitars. That Rickenbacker you've had your heart set on might just have to wait. The shop has a good selection of basses, drums and PA equipment too. Again, given the state of C-bus' music stores selection, this place is pretty unavoidable. You might still have some fun testing out some guitars, though. read more

He let me know it'd probably be a day or two due to Covid. I drove 31 minutes to their store, waited to enter the store -- only to be told that their guitar tech was never coming in today and not until Thursday. The worker was extremely unprofessional and rude and never once apologized for the mixup or show an ounce of remorse for the fact that I made the trip for a mistake by someone on their staff. His "dead beat" attitude was the final straw for me with Guitar Center -- never again. He was in very large gauge earrings. read more

I did just that, even though I was hesitant because of my in person dealings with them which were never good. My nephew is looking to take DJ lessons and their website advertises this. When I called for information about this I received a very stern, "We don't offer DJ lessons". The correct answer would have been, "I'm sorry but we no longer offer them." I mentioned that it still states DJ lessons and got no answer. I asked the person on the phone if he knew of any place who offered them and he seemed to get annoyed even more. Whenever I'm in the area I drop by, and I'm always inspired by watching people excitedly pick out and pick up new musical gear, especially when I can discern that it's the first such purchase ever for someone. I've bought a few things here myself, and I like the fact that it's a no-hassle environment, the instruments are set up and ready to play, and, best of all, they match online prices here (i.e. never pay the listed price here!).
