I've loved the drums the entire 5+ decades of My Life. And randomly browsing My eyes lit upon this used Pearl drum kit, living in FL. Fast forward to dropping the proverbial hammer, I did the business, paid the $$, and finally - took forEVAh, emotionally speaking (just about 3-4 weeks IRL) - My drum kit arrived in CA. And here's where My magical day manifested. The Drumming Section Guy - Dewayne, the human being in the pics with the super cool hair - assembled the million drum parts while answering all of My newbie drummer questions. And while I was completely engaged & distracted, AllofaSuddenouttaNowhere My new Drum Baby was born! It really felt like Xmas morning, I was sooo, soo excited I almost peed Myself loll. Dewayne educated Me mostly enough that I was able to reassemble 87% of My drum kit at home; if I had to wrestle with that huge box We started with, I'm positive I would have been too overwelmed, given up, and sadly returned it... but That's Not How This Story Ended. I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Guitar Center. I ordered a brand-new speaker Mackie Thump215XT 15" 1,400W and paid for a new product, but what I received was clearly a used speaker, Mackie Thump 215 which is a different model. The packaging appeared to have been opened, and the item showed signs of previous use. When customers pay for new equipment, they expect to receive exactly what was advertised. Receiving a used item instead is unacceptable and reflects poor quality control. This experience has made me question Guitar Center's commitment to customer satisfaction. I hope Guitar Center takes responsibility for this issue and improves its processes to ensure other customers do not have the same experience. I suggest is that you check everything before you leave the store make sure you're getting what you paid for! read more

One of the gears of the tuning pegs was worn down on my acoustic guitar, so I came by on a Saturday 9/6/25 around 10:40am to see if they could help. As soon as I walk in, an employee who's sat down at a table with a clipboard asks why I came in today, and I tell him I'm trying to get my guitar fixed. He writes down my info and the make and model of my guitar, and directs me to the repair counter. To my dismay, I see that they put out a sign that said someone will return at 11am on the dot. They have a ton of cool gear to look at so I didn't mind browsing but once it got to be closer to 11:10, I decided to flag down the cashier. He made a call and asked for someone else to let one of the repair guys know I needed help, and said he'd be down shortly. I continue standing awkwardly for at least 10 more mins before Gene finally shows up. Now Gene is a nice guy, he clearly knows what he's talking about. At least to me, someone who's a complete novice at guitars and instruments in general. He inspects my guitar and the worn gear. When I asked him how that could've happened, he explains that due to my tuning pegs having an open-display, it makes it more likely for everything to shift around, which can lead to the gears being worn down over time. When I asked if I could just replace the one worn tuning cog, or if I needed to replace the entire set, he said he could replace just the one cog, but that it may be best to replace the entire set and additionally install enclosed tuner pegs. Considering the install would've been less than $70, I said go for it. I gave it 4 days before calling for a status on my guitar. It was infuriating trying to get a hold of someone from repairs. No one answered so a different helpful rep named Cole told me he'd leave a note for someone in repairs to call me the next day. He apologized profusely and hoped that I'd get help soon. I like Cole. I didn't receive a call from anyone past 3pm the next day so I called them yet again to ask for a status on my guitar. A girl who didn't introduce herself answered and when I explained to her I had spoken with Cole several different times while he tried paging me to repairs, she told me she was going to page me to repairs AGAIN, despite me already telling her my horrible experiences with never getting through to someone in repairs. When I asked if she could just walk over and get someone from repairs to speak with me, she completely ignored everything I had said and told me she was going to page me to repairs. If I had facepalmed myself, I probably would've blown through my skull. Thankfully this time though, someone named Ulysses answered and I explained that Gene helped me and that he it was "just going to be a couple days" to replace the tuner set but that it already had been 4 days, and I've received no status update. Ulysses asked for my name and checked the work order Gene had for me, then tried to explain that sometimes if they're waiting on specific parts to come in, it could take longer. I then explained that Gene literally showed me the parts he was going to use and that it would run me less than $70 for the parts and labor. After that, Ulysses said that he was going to try and work on it and have it be done the same day, and that he'd call me. He did call me later that day to inform me he was finished and that my guitar was ready for pick up whenever. It was a lot of hoops to jump through but I'm just glad someone at least got it done. When I came to pick my guitar up, I did chat with Ulysses about it and he mentioned that repairs was incredibly understaffed and that they're always dealing with so many repair jobs, they can never keep up. It's totally understandable but Guitar Center needs to train their staff to better handle the status updates at least. Kudos to Ulysses for getting the job done for me as soon as he could. Also shoutout to Martin and Cole too for just being awesome, helpful dudes. read more

Guitar center cerritos sold me a used/returned item at full price claiming it was new. I opened it and it was missing parts. It was the last one available at the store and they said there was nothing they could do about it. No discount, they can't mark it as used even though it clearly was. I asked how they track returned items and they said that they don't because there's no way to do that! They admitted that any item could be returned with broken or missing parts and they would have no way to know but still sell it to people as brand new! Some of the staff sucks. Some are cool but a couple suck, always following me around keeping an eye on me and rude. When I try to buy guitars or gear they always try to push floor models at me for full price, which are basically used guitars people play all day and don't come with all the components and accessories they should from the manufacturer or sites like Sweetwater. They try to sell me the damaged items rather than the ones in good condition. I just stick to ordering amazon, sweetwater or manufacturers. I only go there for emergencies but I try my best to it avoid as much as possible just to avoid the horrible staff members. But like I said some are cool and really good just 2 or 3 of them really suck, the others are great. read more

Updated review: Their repair service can be a little more expedient. We brought in my son's guitar that needs to have the nut reversed because my son is a lefty and it'sset up for a right- handed player. This is causing the guitar to have a different sound. It's not as clear as it should be. I brought it in and the guy said it would be about a week. Ugh! On the plus side, there are some new guitars that you can try out like some Flying V's and even a Zack Wylde Custom! The final thing- if you want to try out a guitar that's locked, they'll ask you for your ID and give it back to you when you're finished. Totally understandable. I only wish their repair center was faster. I'm considering going someone else. read more

I went to try drum-sets but every drum-set is occupied by kids, not a big deal but when you are interested in trying something to possibly buy it you'd like to try it. The store has 35 minutes to close when the staff tells everyone demo instruments are no longer to be played. I didn't even get a chance to try more than one electric drum-set without feeling unwelcome. The male employee with colored hair didn't seem interested in talking or helping anyone, just tired of the customers. The point is that you don't need to go to guitar center to see things you might want, you go to try the instruments and get advice from staff. Is it possible to give less than one star? I've never actually met a business that deserves it more than this place. I placed an inquiry online for drum lessons for my son. I was contacted the next day by a lady in their headquarters. She was pleasant and set up for lessons at the Cerritos Guitar Center for 9/7. All was good so far. The very next day I received a cancellation notice that read as though I was the one cancelling the lesson. It stated that if I change my mind to call 562-402-4106 to reschedule. Thinking there must be some confusion, I called that number to reschedule. I spoke to a man who spent enough time on the phone with me to understand that I was looking to reschedule the lesson that was cancelled. He knew I was looking for drum lessons for my son. He set us up for a trial lesson 8/31 at 3:30. We showed up and no one is at the lessons counter. Both drum booths are occupied with lessons. I ask the cashier for assistance and she made it clear that she has nothing to do with lessons and cannot help. I walk around to the repair station, and that guy will not even acknowledge my existence. I walk up to the cashier again as there is a new person now. He looks at me and says "I'll be right back", and disappears. After several attempts for help, one of the drum instructors says he can do the trial lesson. He walks my son into the booth at 3:50. They tap on the drums three times and he explains how to hold the sticks for about two minutes. And the lesson was over. They were out of the booth by 4:00. He says he has another lesson coming in. He actually asked us to take a flyer about lesson fees. Dude must have really thought he did a great job. I don't think I need to express my displeasure. I'm sure any reader can see how ludicrous it was for him to even take my son into the booth knowing that he had a lesson coming in 10 minutes. How is that a proper trial? If that is the best first impression they can produce, we will never come back for any follow ups and I will search all over for any equipment before giving any dollar to Guitar Center that I don't have to. It was the worst customer service recovery of a mistake I've ever seen. read more

We walked into this place just to look around and ended up leaving with music lessons for both of our kids! The music instructor, Josh, is absolutely amazing--he's both patient and incredibly knowledgeable. Our kids genuinely look forward to their lessons because of his guidance. The entire staff here is friendly and super helpful, always making us feel welcome. One of the coolest aspects is that there are a variety of instruments in the store that anyone can try out. Lately, our kids have even stayed after their lessons to practice more, which has been fantastic for their learning. We had no idea this place offered so much, and we're so grateful to the team for working with us to figure out a schedule where our 9 and 11-year-old sons can have back-to-back lessons. I went in to buy an amplifier. I figured they would have one left handed electric guitar I could use to try out an amp. After looking over all the guitars, I didn't see any. I asked a guy who was changing strings on a guitar about a left handed electric guitar, and he motioned for a coworker to help me out. His coworker had to be distracted from whatever he was doing on his cellphone, and he said a guy asked about a left handed guitar yesterday and there weren't any. I'll try a different store. Received an online order today in horrible condition. The guitar I ordered was packed in a thin, flimsy box. It arrived torn open in multiple places and someone attempted to tape it back together again in a few places. I contacted customer service and talked to a very rude representative named Ryan. He suggested leaving it on my porch for UPS to pickup. I explained that I didn't feel that was a safe solution with all the thefts in my area. He said I could spend my time to walk it into the store or take my chances. Buyer beware. Not a great online experience. My brother and I went to GC about 2 weeks ago and saw that the store was open at 10:45am. We thought it was odd because they open at 11am on Sunday. In any case, we casually went in and a white guy with a Flogging Molly t-shirt had a fit and shooed us out. He treated us as if we were a nuisance for simply walking into the store 15 minutes before opening. He could have cordially said "Good morning guys, hey we aren't actually open right now but would love to see you back in 15 minutes." That would have gone a long way for both of us. Honestly, they make it so difficult to get a guitar setup. I just called and asked them if they would be able to restring and intonate a guitar same day and they said that it could take up to a week. I asked the associate again just to make sure I understood her correctly and she seemed bothered that I did but she confirmed that it could take up to a week. Walked in today at 2pm to sell my Acoustic Guitar to put towards a $1,599.99 purchase. After 15min of waiting, I approached one of the guitar guys at the counter and told him I wanted to sell my acoustic. He asked if I had an appointment and at first was confused because he already seemed uninterested with dealing with a street buy so I played dumb and asked why I needed an appointment. With a sigh of relief, he said "well we can't look at it today gotta make an appointment but you can't make one for today cause we're all booked." "Anything else? Anything else" He was sure in a rush to getting back to talking with the other 4 associates behind him. Before I could even ask more, he was quick to stop me. "Anything else? Anything else? Okay, yeah we're all booked up, we got one guy, and we're really busy so anything else? Anything else?" I didn't care what I got for this guitar considering it's been collecting dust and I'm trying to get whatever I can to help fund an expensive purchase ( that I honestly had enough for without the trade in but the 10% doesn't hurt). I couldn't honestly feel comfortable giving any commission or business to any of the staff and didn't bother to show I had an appointment made. Just for fun, I left and made another proving that they were more than available. There was at least 4 guys standing at the counter doing nothing but talking but yet, all too busy for a street but that would've benefited either one of them. When i asked how that affected sales, he said it didn't matter because they were always busy and so if the customer really wanted something, they would just buy it and come back another day to sell it. Really? Than how does the 10% off work? You're just going to give that to customers before they come back and sell. I can't recommend Cerritos Guitar Center enough. It's been a long time since I've been into a GC brick and mortar and it's better than it's ever been. The staff is incredibly helpful without the slightest amount of pressure or upselling. That's the old Guitar Center ways, this is an entirely new and comfortable experience. The displays are beautiful and the selection is top notch. Online does not do this justice. I went in for a set of bass strings and I'm going back in a couple of weeks for a new bass. Whether you're buying or browsing, this is the place to do it! read more

Terrible service. I'm in the market for an electric guitar and wanted to sell or trade in my Big Baby Taylor for it. First time I tried to sell it, I walked in the store and was told there is a specific person who does the assessment and they are in only in specific days, so I was turned away and I thought okay thats fair, thats how their store works. I go home, realize I need to be prepared on how it works so I went online to go through their website in case there's something else I need to do to sell, turns out they have a scheduling feature on their website! I figured oh! Thats how I'm supposed to do that. Scheduled the assessment, cancelled trips and plans for the day, etc. I come in on the appt date and they tell me the website is not connected to their system so they didn't even know I was coming in and they're super busy so it's gonna be a while, and that they're not looking to buy Big Baby Taylors cos they have too much of it. OKAY, so I basically wasted my Sunday just to be told it's gonna be a long wait and they're not even gonna buy it. NICE. They also told me their manager is fully aware of the issue with the website. So they're aware but just didn't fix it. GREAT! I just LOVE hearing from someone how aware they are of an issue but decided it's not important enough to fix it. This isnt the first time I had an issue with Guitar Center, so I guess I'm not surprised. Spare yourself the trouble and go elsewhere as much as possible. I'll be purchasing the Gretsch Pristine at Sweetwater instead. Screw this place! read more

The rumors of Guitar Center going the way of Frys doesn't seem to be far off. Better off using B&H Photo. This is the 3rd Guitar Center I have been to this year, and each time, I am a little surprised how poor the customer is treated. The location was very messy. Customer service was chaotic, understaffed, and unmotivated. The only staff member that went out of their way to speak with me was security, who rudely demanded I leave my bag with him. Note that this was only after I had been in the store for 15 minutes, failing to get someone to help me. After finally getting someone to acknowledge me, I was told it would take a while, even as many staff members just lounged around, joking with what I assume were off-the-clock staff or personal friends. I didn't get what I was looking for, nor did I get any answers to my questions after 30 minutes. Only come here as a last resort or to try out instruments that you can then shop around for cheaper online. read more

My husband and I had such a pleasant experience here today. The selection of guitars and keyboards is excellent, and you can actually play pricier models without asking anyone because they're unlocked! The sales associates were also kind and respectful. Most importantly, no one treated me like I didn't know what I was doing, and no one harassed me. I know that's a low bar to clear, but not all Guitar Centers are created equal. My kids love this place as they can get whatever their music need. Complete stock and easy access to music instruments before you buy. Staffers are knowledgeable and friendly. Even though they told me they are on commission based by checking people out, but they are not like the ones we met in Sacramento branch lying to us about we could only check out with him or her. All guitars and basses are so sexy that we want to bring everyone home. Even we cannot, we still get to touch them and play them onsite, which is an experience we will always remember. Due to pandemic and some accessories are not available or are not sure when the back orders can be filled. We got a Gibson from Guitar Center and it is good. read more

I found the double bass drum pedal I was looking for and took it to the counter. I just want to know if the service are, more accurately the guitar service center, works the same hours as the store? My son wanted to get his acoustic guitar restrung. We got there at 7 PM on a Friday night. The store closes at 9 PM. My son asked if his guitar could be re-strung. One of the guys looked at my son, then looked at his co-worker and asked, "Do you want to fix it?" The co-worker scoffed and said, "pfft, no." Then he turned to my son and said, "Sorry, we're closing shop." I don't know if that is the level of service this store gives, but those two guys really showed laziness and unprofessionalism.
