I initially had issues because we were constantly shifted around different teachers and didn't feel like my daughter was getting any consistency with her lessons. I expressed my issues and they worked with me to get us wi the a consistent teacher and time slot. It's been awesome. However yesterday, I noticed the monthly invoice declined since my credit card expired. I immediately called and was told "thanks for being proactive! It actually looks like this one went through and I'll send you the credit card Auth form in a bit so you can put the updated one " Today I got a text that I need to pay the invoice I texted back and said I never received the updated cc form and that supposedly it went through for the month according to yesterdays call. I immediately filled out the cc form and submitted. we came in for our lesson, and it was cancelled!! - because the invoice wasn't paid. I told the front desk, namely Aubrey, the whole situation and she was completely aware. She told me it was totally not my fault, that the invoice actually never went through even though i was told it was. She was incredible, handling the mix up getting my cc information updated and even got a sub here within 10 min. I really appreciate her handling it, she's my fave front desk person. I had my first lesson at Cal Heights Music last night and was impressed with the first lesson. I am an adult returning to piano after MANY years away from it. I really just want a refresher and some tips and pointers. Josh was great, he listened to me play, suggested a book that can help me remember some of the skills, terms, scales, etc that I have forgotten and then reviewed some of the basics with them. I was really happy with the first lesson. Unfortunately, they were closing as I was leaving, so I was unable to sign up for ongoing classes, but they took my name and number and I am awaiting a call back. We LOVE this music studio! My daughter takes piano lessons with Mr. Josh and my son takes ukulele lessons with Mr. Jafet. They are awesome teachers and my kids look forward to their lesson every week! We have had different substitute teachers on occasion and they have all been great as well. The front desk are always helpful. It is very easy to make up a class if you can't make it to your scheduled class. My kids have enjoyed participating in the recitals. Their teachers let them choose their songs, so my Swiftie daughter gets to learn her favorite Taylor Swift song on the piano! I also decided to start voice lessons again and I've been very happy with my teachers. It's also been pretty easy to schedule make ups on the few occasions we've had to miss a lesson. I initially left my review on Facebook but they apparently blocked me and removed my review to keep their 5 star rating. So I'm leaving my review here because I believe as a consumer, I should be heard and others should be warned. Buyer beware. I wanted to update my review and provide some context as to why I give this business a 1 star rating. When 2020 lockdown hit, we poured out into our local businesses in the best way possible and having known the owners as our neighbors, we were more than happy to patronize this business. As a single mom, it was a sacrifice for us to pay $140 a month for lessons but I was blessed to keep my job during lockdown. We had our ups and downs with virtual training and my son was engaged but had some challenges. The instructor gave him a new song every week so he wasn't learning any songs. When his recital came around, he picked the easiest song I thought they were practicing; however, he did not know it. Despite this, we faithfully attended our lessons and we're excited to finally have lessons in person when their building reopened. Things got busier for the business and we found ourselves getting shuffled around the studio rather than having a set room. The most difficult situation was when they placed my son in the drum room for a string instrument. It was really crammed in there and was hard for him to play his instrument so I suggested we just do a drum lesson for fun as to not discourage him. The second recital came around and my son had a very hard time with the performance because he had not learned a song. His instructor was also not present to be of support. It was heartbreaking. I'd hoped he'd learn at least one song after investing $1600+ on lessons. Our financial situation took a turn when lockdown completely lifted and I got laid off from a company I worked for for 5 years. I landed a job in Westminster and faithfully commuted to our appointment 20 miles away. During this time, my son's father took on the finances to pay for lessons while I made the commute to appointments. It was a struggle but we were determined. My son's father was not getting the payment links so we had several hiccups in getting payment in on time prior to our appointments but we always paid faithfully when things got sorted out. 3 years in, we cancelled our services with them. I remember this day very clearly. We drove 20 miles in rush hour traffic to get to his appointment on time. When we showed up, my son was turned away because they didn't get their $40 payment for that single lesson. This business is advertised as being family friendly but I believe they are only interested in the money. To turn a child away from a lesson does not exemplify a desire to teach that child the art of music and not just a child but a neighbor whose family has sacrificed so much for his desire to learn an instrument. 3 years of music lessons...up to $5k in lessons...my son still hasn't learn how to play a full song. There are better businesses to put your money into than Cal Heights Music. read more

Both my 12-year old son and 10-year old daughter told me they were interested in taking ukelele and piano lessons. I was so happy to find Cal Heights Music because they're just down the street and I just love how welcoming they are and how excited my kids are to come to class every Saturday. They even practice at home which is unheard of from these two! Older brother even taught himself a new song and taught his little sister. They are both taking ukelele at the moment. The group classes are very affordable for me which is another plus. Hopefully soon we can get them into private lessons but for now this is working out great!
