I am not surprised at all that Guild Mortgage has 5 stars from the 15 reviews before mine. We were recommended to Nonato Icarangal of Guild Mortgage by our realtor. As many first time homebuyers are, we were very green when it comes to buying a home. Bryan put his reputation on the line, and reassured us that Nonato and Guild would make the process a lot easier. I must admit that my husband took the lead when it came to gathering documents and overall communication with our lender. Each time an obstacle came about, Nonato was honest and offered options. Even when the outlook was grim, he carried us through. Buying a home is a very trying process, but when you have an experienced lender who is patient and knowledgable and goes above and beyond the call like working late to make sure we got our mortgage credit, it's not so scary. Nonato is hands down the best loan officer! He provided us with exceptional service and helped us with our home loan allowing my family and I to live the AMERICAN DREAM! Like many first time home buyers, we were very excited and a bit nervous at the same time. What else can I say about Nonato and the folks at Guild Mortgage that wasn't already said in the other 5 star reviews! As a First Time Homebuyer, we didn't know what to expect. Nonato was there every step of the way, and answered every question we had in regards to the process. He even went out if his way to explain to us information that deadly even related to our account. We had so many questions and concerns, Nonato was able to provide us with answers (ones that we were able to understand) in a timely manner. He never made me feel like my questions weren't important! TJ helped my family with various loans. They enjoy working with him because he gives nothing but EXCEPTIONAL service. Every question is met with reason at a very timely manner. I'm reside in Las Vegas and needed general loan questions. Because of his work with my family I turned to him for trustworthy advice. In this business where people have hidden agendas, I really needed someone to give me the bottom line truth...after 2 loan officers in LV I was jaded. I didn't really understand the process of what to do when trying to purchase my first place, and I don't like feeling as if i'm an inconvenience to a Realtor or Loan officer when I call with what may seem like basic questions to them, but things i'd really like to know, or don't have a good understanding of. My Loan Officer TJ Castro never made me feel that way. He reassured me that everyone feels the same way when purchasing their first place. It's exciting, but can be stressful if you don't have the right people working with you to get everything done. The best part is he works like me... I like to get things done in a timely fashion, and if my client calls me with a question, I always make sure to get back to them right away. TJ laid out a game plan of exactly what needs to be done, and took the stress factor out of the equation so I can just be excited and happy about being able to get into my very first condo. Tristan Castro (TJ) was our loan officer. He was PHENOMENAL. This was our first home purchase together (my husband & I) & we were told no less than 3 times that we were not even close to qualifying for the amount that we closed with through TJ. In handling all of our redundant, and endless novice level questions, TJ was so informative and always explained in language that we could easily understand. He never made us feel like we were a bother. He, along with our realtor, kept us in the loop every step of the way during the entire 4 months of house hunting all the way to final signing on closing day. And they continue to check in on us! My husband & I have many years in the service industry & we know what it takes to keep our customers at ease, and it's not easy! It's a lost art, but TJ has honed that skill to perfection. His depth of knowledge is in our eyes, second to none. As I mentioned, we were told by Quicken Loans, American Savings Bank, and our own credit union that our qualification was 1/3 of what we actually ended up with. TJ looked at our financials & immediately knew how to get us where we needed to be, (so that we could target the specific area we wanted to be in!) without altering tax returns or making other lifestyle sacrifices that we really didn't want to budge on. All of the 3 previous loan agents told me I'd have to give up the lease on my car! Clearly he had crossed this bridge many times. I really cannot say enough good about this young man. If we decide to purchase another home, he will be our go to guy. I've recommended TJ & Guild to all our coworkers that ask about our buying experience. I probably sound fanatical! Alexis has been nothing but the most caring honest hard working woman I have ever met. She was there with me from day one, even when I didn't think owning a home was even possible. And she never left my side once until the very very end. She did everything in her power to ensure that I got the best deals with my loan. And she ensured that I was going to be able to do all of this at the end of the day when everything was said and done. When it comes to buying a home, having a good team by your side will make or break your sale. Between Alexis and my real estate agent, they literally held my hand through every single step of this. Going the extra mile is what I would describe my experience when TJ Castro helped me refinance my home mortgage. He was very honest and upfront with me throughout the entire process. I disagree with the other reviews. Nonato or TJ are not the best mortgage brokers here ..... Cindy P. is! =) Cindy helped us buy our first home. It was totally painless. She was even there for us years later to get rid of our mortgage insurance and refinance us. Our mortgage payment is now way less than before PLUS we are paying off an extra $200 every month off the principal. A total win/win situation. I would recommend Cindy to anyone, especially first time home buyers. read more

I must say, TJ Castro is as good as it gets when it comes to customer service! He went above and beyond by coming to my work place to sign documents, emailing me and texting me with updates on our loan process, even sending me letters in the mail! I am now on my 2nd house financed through Guild and if it weren't for his quick knowledgeable responses and consistent follow up, I wouldn't have owned 2 houses! I worked with TJ Castro and he is an awesome loan officer. He is very knowledgeable, responsive, personable, accommodating, and ON IT! To give you an idea of how on it he and his team are: Mar 02 - I submitted online loan application Mar 10 - Pre-approved Mar 22 - Went to an open house, - I put in an offer May 02 - I receive the keys I got my keys 6 weeks from when I put in my offer. There was a lot that TJ and his team had to do to make it happen. There were potential issues with closing, but TJ took care of them right away. He also worked very well with my realtor Clevan from Garcia Properties (in case you also need an awesome realtor). I recommend TJ to everyone looking to buy a home. read more

We are a military family and moved here without plans to purchase a home. Nothing was available for rent on the North Shore, so we started to look into buying. Problem was that we did not have a down payment, or much of one, and a lot of the properties for sale would not meet requirements for a VA loan. Fortunately, someone recommended Guild Mortgage and Nonato to us, and we got to work---while I was still on the mainland. He was very available and able to communicate via phone, email, or text, allowing us to quickly apply for and get approved for the best loan for us. We had nowhere near the customer service when we tried to go through Navy Fed, and we had decided when purchasing our last home to never again use USAA for a mortgage. Nonato was flexible on location when we needed to meet in person to sign final documents. Guild has convenient offices all over Oahu. He was very knowledgeable and personable. He also did everything he could to get us the best (lowest) interest rate and monthly payment on our home. A year later we had built up enough equity on our home, and had seen the neighborhood values increasing, and we were ready to refinance. We sent a quick note to Nonato, and he ran with it. We were able to quickly refinance the home (wanted to and did get it done before the birth of our child), saving us around $1000 per monthly payment. Customer service, availability, and overall care for his clients were still on point. There is no other individual I would use to finance a home purchase in Hawaii. read more

I hardly write reviews on here but I felt I needed to because of the great service me and my wife received from Tristan Castro. He was extremely friendly and down to earth. From the start of the process he was very informative and he answered all of our questions. We didn't think we could get approved because my wife just finished college, but Tristan was very confident in his skills and knew what he was doing. He called us back quickly for updates and made sure we had all the right documents. We were so happy when we got approved, we were shocked and so grateful to him for helping us buy our first place that we could call home.
