Suckered into using this company by my builder and it's completely my fault by being overwhelmed by too many things in motion at the same time, but I'm also sure they count on that. The biggest issue--want to cancel? Well, that's too damn bad because you'll get the runaround (the main number can't cancel) and when someone does finally call you back, it's a 3 year contract and you need to pay 75% of it to part ways with them. But, you want your home to be safe you say? Sure, sure. Prepare for 50+ alarms a day. The spruce bush in my yard is constantly up to no good and I have ghosts upstairs apparently because I get motion detector messages when there is no one up there. Maybe I can tweak it so it doesn't suck so much? Sure. Am I angry that I have to fiddle with this thing just in order to reap a non-negative effect? I am filled with the rage of a thousand suns. (Oh, I saw a fox on my outdoor camera once. That was cool.) Is there a smart panel? I wouldn't call it "smart" exactly. You get a panel, fwiw. You can get all of this cheaper, you can get all of this without a three year contract, you can get all of this without wanting to hulk smash all of it every time it tells you there someone on your porch (IT'S A TREE! After being a customer for 20+ years they want to charge me $3 for a paper bill. Ok I went to being emailed though I am a senior and like my paper bills. Then they want $5 a month if I don't enroll for them to automatically take the monthly bill out of my checking account. Don't like but was going to do it until I read their disclosure. It says I authorized them to initiate an electronic funds transfer out of my bank account for all" payments of my recurring services in the amounts indicated above". THERE IS NO AMOUNT LISTED ABOVE. I have called and got transferred around and they will only tell the the amount due. It says "in the amount is listed above" and it is not so I can't just authorize them to take out what they want when they want. read more

Terrible alarm response time and worse customer service. On28Oct25, with the Waterford Emergency Manager and Deputy Police Chief, we tested Guardian Alarm response time at the church by triggering the silent alarm. It took ~6 minutes before Guardian called Police dispatch. Absolutely unacceptable and pathetic. Worse yet, is that after 1 call to customer support and 2 emails to our Guardian Alarm account rep throughout the week, Guardian Alarm has yet to send out a tech or contact us with root cause and plan for corrective action. We pay well over $600/quarter for basically the worst service money can buy. If safety is important, find a more reputable alarm company. DO NOT RECOMMEND GUARDIAN ALARM!!! read more

My customer service scheduled our installation for later the same week. Our installer was pleasant to work with, taking over 5 hours to install our security system. Very misleading sales process, I was told I had to pay an outfront fee to buy the equipment and I was under the impression that I only equipment, after 3 years of having the equipment went to canceled told me I was in a 5-year agreement and it was a lease agreement meaning I never owned the equipment and the first place. I told them they could come take it back and they wanted to charge me and insane fee. I then reviewed all of my billing history with them and since I was in auto pay I didn't really catch it at first but they had added small rate increases about every 6 months. The equipment failed a couple of times too during my 3 years had my touch screen keypad freeze on me twice. read more

Two weeks after the installation the "smart" thermostat threw a low batter warning and when the batteries went dead the thermostat shut off. I had no control over the temp for several days until a technician could come out. All he did was pull off the front cover and replace 4 triple A batteries... That was it' (I'm thinking they could have had me do that faster and cheaper.) Well guess what, two week later it's happening again. This unit is hard wired and should not be running off of a battery back-up. This time I've asked for level 2 support (if they have it) to check the wiring. No-one changes batteries in the ADC - T2000 every two weeks. Let's see what happens. P.S. The tech that came out to install the floodlight cameras wanted $200 per smoke detector. I have been a customer for years. If my bill is 10 min. late I get call after call. If I need service...ghosted.

My account was put on suspension 2- 3 years ago ( I called to cancel and they talked me into suspension). There is no service and no bills to this house since. I got notice that they started charging $75.00 a month starting 11/7/2022 and that I owed $300.00. I called several times to billing. They told me I had to pay it period. I think this is unethical for a company to behave this way and charge even though there was no service. I paid it so they would not ruin my credit rating. I told them to cancel the account. Very disappointed, I called and cancel after 9 years of service because I relocated. Three months later I received a bill for the last two months of no service and when I called to have the issue resolved they stated they did not have record of the call. They also acted as if they didn't have record of my new address which was on the bill sent. In the end they still require that I pay two of the months. Why mess up a relation with a customer when it's obvious an issue occurred in the customer service department. Absolutely impossible to cancel service. After 20+ years as a Guardian Alarm customer, I have been attempting to cancel service for the past 6 months. I have sent cancellation requests via U.S. Mail, email, and telephone. All attempts have fallen on deaf ears. They continue to send bills and are now threatening me with referral to a collection agency. Avoid this company at all costs. Got charged for service when there was no service even when there was a break in, which happened when the burglars cut the line and I just got a message from Guardian that they aren't getting a signal. Maybe that's because there is a robbery in process. Completely unprofessional on the telephone. Discontinuing service in my medical office along with home service. Terrible business. There is a negative in front of that one star-I assure you! I don't know WHO guardian has worked for in the past or WHO they are currently working for, BUT THEY NEVER ONCE WORKED FOR ME! I called them after a home break in and the district sales manager came out the next day with all kinds of promise! This guy named Carlos Solis tells me that the person that referred me to them would be getting $100 if I signed up with them. That was a flat out lie! They sent her a "Thank you for the referral card!" He also gave me his card and told me to call him directly IF I had ANY problems!! Lol. I had MANY. He stopped calling back after the third visit to my home to TRY to get the system up and running! I had at least 5 visits to my home-supervisors and all and NOT ONE OF THEM could get me guarded. Meanwhile, they charged me!!! For guarding me- BUT HOW COULD THEY been guarding me with a system not up and running?? Easily. They are crooks. Inept crooks. Covering their own behinds and leaving a trail of woes. I finally convinced Guy in accounts of my troubles and he agreed to refund me my money for installation. After a 30 day wait for which they kept a system unmonitored in my home. I begged them to take it so that I could replace it. When they finally DID they maliciously cut all kinds of wires unnecessarily. That is what the ADT guy said. Oey Vey! I am glad to be rid of them.... I have NO DOUBT that this company can give excellent service...to those they wish to. And I am equally sure that there are others that the company just dismisses as NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH to keep satisfied. I unfortunately fell into the last category. Too bad! Requested the services of Guardian when I bought a house that needed extensive renovations. When your agent came to inspect it he was told that the renovations will take some time (it took 13 months!) and that I would inform you when I was ready to move in. From this time I received a monthly bill for $40 which I questioned it repeatedly by phone. Nothing changed. On the last call I made your agent said that your accounting department did not know that the contract was on hold. She said she would correct that error and give me another 4 months of delay before activating my account. Three months after this conversation I was ready to move in and I notified you, Spoke to Mr, David Urbina (from Toledo, Ohio) who said he would send an agent to inspect the house and see what was needed. Mr Urbina called me 3 days later saying that before an agent was sent I had to pay a pending bill for &600. Told him I would not pay for services not rendered. I signed a 3 year monitoring agreement that included a video doorbell, wifi connected so I could get rid of my landline and an app that allowed me to raise and lower my garage door. The doorbell camera also records (for 30 seconds) any movement within a certain distance from it. My new rate is very reasonable and the monitoring service is good. Unfortunately, when I inquired about further continuous loop video monitoring, they said that option is not available via the existing doorbell nor with anything new. So I'm stuck with this system for 2 more years with no option to expand to a service comparable to a Ring system. Very disappointing because there are a significant number of Amazon, FEDEX, USPS and UPS deliveries to me and homes near mine. read more

I am a commercial customer that was with them for 30years- about 9 months ago, they could not get anything right. No one would call back- i called 50+ times! The system was wired with the zones backwards, phone lines disconnected (would have thought the monitoring center might notice this?), alarm went off for no reason some days, inoperable others. Simple weekly reports dissapeared (no one could fix it but they kept billing no problem). Local municipality almost jailed them for their fire-hazard wiring and lack of permits. They have a nice new website now- would have been nice if they could install or monitor our alarms.... read more

I would avoid this company like the plague. I signed up for an alarm contract in May 2013. The sales process consisted of a representative coming to my home to outline the service Guardian would provide and at what cost. The installation and monthly fee was very reasonable and competitive. Guardian also uses modern equipment which I liked. I was hesitant to sign up at first. Guardian requires a 3 year contract. Since I knew I would only be in this home for about a year it didn't make sense to sign up for a 3 year agreement. The sales representative assured me I could cancel the contract at any time for a $250 fee without any penalty. I signed the agreement based on these terms. Fast forward a year later. I was moving and no longer needed the alarm. I called Guardian and much to my dismay they would not allow me out of my contract. Furthermore they flat out accused me of lying, stating their representative would have never misrepresented the terms of the agreement to complete a sale. I have a letter from a Guardian manager basically assassinating my character. I was called a liar. I moved in April 2014. Despite Guardian no longer providing me alarm service and having taken possession of all their equipment I am still paying them a monthly service fee and will be until 2016. To add insult to injury 1 month after they had removed all the equipment from my former residence and were no longer providing me with any monitoring I received a call from their monitoring center. They said there appeared to be a communication issue with my system. Really? The system was removed but it took a month for someone to notice. Amazing. Everyone I dealt with was extremely insulting and unprofessional. I was willing to pay the $250 cancellation fee sold to me by their representative yet they chose to not only use strong arm tactics to continue getting their monthly service fee (which they no longer provide me anything for) they also attacked me personally in the process. Shame on me for not reading the fine print. I took the representative's word that there was a cancellation fee and a way out of the contract. Had I read the fine print (which is written on the back of the contract in font so small it is not easily gone through) I may have avoided this headache. I couldn't imagine why anyone would chose to do business with Guardian Alarm. I don't care how good their product is. Their business practices are unethical. read more

I have had service through Guardian Alarm for several years....dating back to when the company was still owned and operated by the original owners. During that time, not only was my monthly alarm service coverage perfect, but any time that I needed service on my system, the service personnel and the process were nothing short of perfection....courteous, professional, knowledgeable, prompt and communicative. Since the company has changed ownership, I've had nothing but issues. Numerous missed service appointments, on their part, which leave me waiting around the house for the 4 hour service time window, only to have no one show up. Cancelled scheduled service appointments, on their part. I have also had their service people show up at the wrong time...I was scheduled for service between 5 and 8 PM...A service technician showed up just after 12 o'clock saying he had come for scheduled service. Thankfully, due to my RING doorbell camera system, I was able to speak with him and explain that no one was scheduled to come until later that day. At that time he apologized and said that he would have someone return at the appropriate time. I then received a phone call from the office, stating that the part necessary for service had been ordered, and that they would contact me when the part arrived, to schedule a service appointment..Excuse me?! How could you possibly know what part is needed for service when no one actually came into my house to determine what the problem was?! They then scheduled another service appointment... Which no one showed up for!! If I could give a negative star review, I would. Unfortunately, with the original owners gone, the company is just not the same. The new owners are just out to make money. They have no regard for their clients once contracts have been signed, and pay no attention to service. Ever since Guardian Alarm was bought out, their policies and service SUCK! I was discriminated against and service was DENIED for reasons totally out of my control and that were based on the actions of other people. If anyone asks, I will definitely deter them from using this service. Very disappointed in this so-called "hometown" business. If could give a negative star, I would. I live in an apartment complex which allows you to have alarm systems installed. I signed an 18month lease with an auto renew which means I will be there for 3.5 years. But since other people have signed up for service and left before the 3 year contract was up, I was denied service. If I am willing to sign a contract and have my credit attached to it etc. it would beg that I would obviously not skip out on the contract. Furthermore, they did not even bother to contact the management company to verify or anything. They just assumed (probably because of my first name) that I would skip out on the contract. I will NEVER deal with this company and I will make sure EVERYONE knows how they operate! I have been in contact with Guardian but unfortunately, their attempt at resolution has been less than sub-par, so I'm currently in contact with legal counsel to determine if there is any other action that can be taken. But I wanted to make other consumers aware of the things they should watch out for with this company. Because if I had read some of the reviews I've seen now, I probably wouldn't have signed up for this. 1) We weren't notified that the contract my husband signed was for 3 years. Understandably, if we had read every piece of the fine print (which most people rarely do), we might've noticed it. But that's also something that should be made clear at the initial setup meeting. And from what I've seen in other reviews and complaints, we're not the only ones to have encountered this. 2) We've had on multiple occasions, where our internet service was interrupted or completely out (at one point for 3.5 weeks), which meant our home wasn't being monitored by Guardian. According to them, they only check the signal once a month and "that's standard for the alarm industry" (which I replied with "Since I don't work in the alarm industry, how would I know that?). So the times that our service was out and we didn't know it, someone could've broken into our house and there would've been no one there to monitor us and keep us safe. This is also something that should be mentioned at the initial setup, because what they're saying is that if there's a problem with your equipment and you're unaware, and someone breaks into your home before the next monthly test, then you are not being monitored at all. You're paying for a loud noise and nothing else. You are completely vulnerable and you don't know it. The best part is that I was told that the system should've notified me, as in my keypad should've said their was a problem. It did not. It never has in any of the instances. Currently we have service with Xfinity Home Security, while we get this figured out, and we're notified instantly if we have even a 30 second disruption to service. So for Guardian to say "this is the standard in the industry" is ridiculous. No, it's poor quality service. 3) Also, despite the monthly testing, when we FIRST signed up for Guardian we got calls constantly in those first 2 weeks because we had internet interruption. But after we fell out of the cancellation period, all of a sudden we're only being monitored monthly. We found that really suspicious that they monitor you like crazy in the beginning to make you feel secure, and then once you're obligated to stay in the contract, they stop. 4) After many instances of this happening where we aren't being monitored (and calling to seek resolution that we never got), the solution that Guardian recently provided was that we could take a $35 credit or cancel and pay the remaining contract of $315. Basically saying that we'll be required to finish out a contract for a service that we've barely received in the last 21 months, and we don't have much faith in for the remaining 15 months. As a mother of twin 18 month olds and twins on the way, I'm being forced to shell out a substantial amount of money I don't have OR continue paying for a service that doesn't actually provide us security in our home. It's disgusting and disappointing that this how business is conducted now. I will NEVER recommend Guardian to anyone, and I will definitely make it clear in EVERY way I can to friends and family, and on any website I can find, that Guardian is not the way to go for this service. They dupe you into a lengthy contract and they don't give you all the information you need to make an informed decision about their product. You don't find out until it's too late that they service you're barely receiving is shotty at best. read more

Very poor customer service. After several years with Guardian we planned to discontinue our land line which required conversion to a internet based monitoring. We proceeded and when I notified them we need to convert they first tried to sell us a radio based system with cost involving equipment expense and increase in monthly monitoring cost. We informed them we only wanted the internet based system with WiFi that would require a pad replacement that would include a service call charge. This was after paying a $8 monthly fee for service protection for years that we never needed and by the way we were unaware it was an optional charge. Needless to say in a world where many private home owners are getting rid of land lines and the technology is changing rapidly Guardian is making some poor business decisions in retention strategy! read more

I've had this service for a little over four years didn't have a problem until the system malfunctioned going on 3 weeks ago since we called the first time they said they would get to it within 24 hours to 48 hours that was 3 weeks ago October 12 after I called corporate on October 28th they told me the same thing 24 48 hours after I told them that wasn't good enough they said they would get to me pretty quick now they're telling me they set up appointment for November 3rd we could not go out of town last week because of this has explained to their representative that's when they told me the servicer is a subcontractor soon as I find another alarm company you can believe Guardian it's going to be replaced oh by the way you see they didn't deserve any stars from me it but I couldn't post this unless I put at least one star Jose wouldn't have gotten any!!!! read more

I recently signed up with Guardian Alarm. I have been their customer before. Service is OK. But my main concern is that this time when I signed up, I assumed that I would be able to monitor my alarm system from my mobile phone through an app. Oh, boy, was I wrong to assume that. They want to charge me $8/month (that was discounted offer, they actually charge $12/month, ouch!!) for using app. For this they do not have to do anything additional. I thought in today's world, you are able to control just about anything using your mobile, so that would be the case here. So, if you are thinking of signing up with Guardian, be aware of this type of extra fees. And they charge because they paid to develop the app!!:-| read more

Once their sales representative, John, came to my home, there was absolutely no question in my mind I made the right decision. He was calm, thorough, very engaging, and made me feel comfortable with the system I chose. The installer was also prompt and did excellent work. read more

False alarm reported to these incompents at 8pm, but instead of canceling the alarm they immediately called the police and subsequently called my residence at midnight and at 4am. I received a warning letter from the police department. After 17 years, I am changing security services. read more

Be careful they, do not always tell the truth. I moved from one unit in our building to another and they told me the contract would be the same. No change. No new contract. Turns out when I asked when the contract would end, as our business was changing, they told me that my contract started when I moved to the new unit; not when I first moved into the building. They had lied to me. Make sure you pin them down and get everything in writing, which I did not do. I relied on the person's verbal assurance. read more
