They did come to my house and we walked through the project. Since we were doing outdoor handrails, they asked if i wanted them painted or powder coated. Remember this comment as it's relevant later in my comments. I got their proposal which was almost $1800 more than Mayorgas. So, like any buyer would do, i started asking questions and everything went downhill from there. They asked me to share information about the other people to insure the bids were apples to apples to compare and maybe lower their bid cost. I sent what i was given only to be told I never answered their questions. I asked how much of a cost savings there would be if i opted for paint vs powdercoat and the owner sent this: "You add nothing back for paint, as we are a welding contractor, not a painting contractor. WE DON'T PAINT! " Remember I said they asked me if i wanted the rails painted or powdercoated above, then this is the response i got. At this point i decided I wasn't going to work with them and Tim had his helper send me a note saying they were no longer interested in working with me. I followed up and said you beat me to it. That was my plan since the owner was a condescending A-hole and didn't like that i was asking questions about his bid. He had the gall after i confirmed i was moving on and sent this..... This is who you will deal with if you choose to with Artisan. Remember, even if you are a novice, like I am at figuring out what all the options mean and ask to compare to someone else's bid, Tim, doesn't want to be questioned or challenged. And, he has no problem being an a-hole about it. Sum it up, he did me a favor. He was rude and nasty so buyer beware.

I have a RV gate and a standard 4ft gate that needed to be replaced or reworked. I did some…read moreresearch and I decided to go with Ryan after the bids. In short, it was a great choice. The gates were done right, which gave a boost to my ego as my neighbors asked about my beautiful "new" gates. :) For those who are more technical or want more detail...here it is. The original wood slats of my gates were installed by the builder. Unless you have a custom home, chances are, those original wood slats are just not meant to last. I started a bid to either replace the gates or just change out the wood slat (to composite wood). Most of the vendors rather just change out the whole gate with preinstalled composite wood slats and do not bother with swapping the wood slats. In many cases, it is necessary to change out the entire gate. Ryan, however, is the only vendor who offered me with both choices - rehab the gate or change it out. Yes, he can do both. I am cheap so I went with the most economical method - rehab. After he is done, the gates look like new, and function like new. In fact, my landscaper thought I got a brand double gate, he couldn't tell this was a refreshment because in addition to the new composite wood slat (which will last a long time) the bolts & nuts are new, and the coating is new. We got one minor problem a month later - The composite wood slats, just like many other materials out there, contrasted and started to curve out (some worse than the others). Ryan came back out and adjusted it, no problem at all. This tells me he can be trusted and he stands behind his work even for a small job like mine. I would recommend Ryan to anyone who wants quality gate work done at a fair price.
