Unfortunately, this time was completely different, and the experience we had with Monica was extremely upsetting. Monica lacked empathy and did not take the time to guide us through the process or explain our options. We specifically requested a viewing for my mother-in-law, and later were told she was not viewable. This was devastating, especially because we were then told it was due to us not requesting embalming, something that was never clearly explained to us. As a grieving family, we didn't even know what questions we were supposed to ask, and we relied on the funeral director to walk us through those decisions. Communication was also very difficult. Monica was rude on the phone and did not show understanding or compassion. When we expressed concerns or asked about alternative options, nothing was offered and there was no apology. When we ultimately decided to switch to another mortuary, the only response we received was that we would still have to pay. The lack of care, guidance, and empathy added unnecessary stress and sadness to an already painful time. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Tempe Mortuary to families looking for compassionate and supportive care.

My family has trusted Bueler Mortuary for over 40 years, caring for multiple generations with…read morecompassion and professionalism. Unfortunately, our recent experience was very different. After my grandfather passed, we chose Bueler's out of loyalty. Initially, the director was kind, but his demeanor changed noticeably when I explained we would only be arranging a basic cremation and not a full service. Communication became poor, we received no updates and had to repeatedly follow up just to find out when my grandfather's cremains would be ready. Each interaction felt cold and impersonal. While another staff member was more helpful, the overall tone lacked the compassion you would expect during such a difficult time. When we picked up my grandfather's cremains, we were met at the entrance and not even brought into a private area to be given the urn. His cremains were placed in a plastic urn inside a paper gift bag. While we understood that we selected a basic option and would have a plastic urn, the handling and presentation felt careless. I was not prepared for the weight and nearly dropped the urn, which was very upsetting at such a sensitive moment. Every family, regardless of the services they choose, deserves kindness, respect, and clear communication. We were honoring my grandfather's wishes, and it should not have resulted in feeling dismissed or less valued. I hope this feedback encourages a return to the level of care and compassion Bueler Mortuary was once known for.
