I've been with Gtek for a couple years and have only had to call once for a service interruption, which took less than 3 minutes to correct. Their customer service is outstanding. I spoke with Michael today, as I had some questions about my plan. I just asked online in a chat and he was quick, efficient and just great. After over two years of outages and escalating prices, we finally left GTEK. When I would call about outages, they would threaten to charge me for service calls to fix my service and not come out for three days. When I finally disconnected service they came on my property and opened our back gate with no trespassing and beware of dog signs. They let our dogs out and proceeded to remove the equipment. Used to have Gtek internet service years ago. I canceled their service due to billing issues and constant down time and went with another provider for a couple of years I decided to give Gtek another try assuming they have improved their services some, but only to be disappointed by their reliability. I've only had it 3 days and already cannot connect to the internet. I've had internet by a well known satellite internet HN and they were actually more reliable than what Gtek has been for me in my rural area. I'll give Gtek one last chance to get me back online before I switch to Starlink. Even my 4G T-Mobile has better connectivity than this WISP service provider. read more

I've been at the mercy of this alleged "Internet Service Provider" for over 3 years now. I'm on a first name basis with their first level "Tech Support" since I've had to call them so many times. I'm disabled, so this "service" is pretty much my only access to the outside world. I've been an IT Networking Professional for 30+ years, and I simply cannot understand how a company that stumbles along with this level of inept service continues to remain in business. I've run dozens of QA tests on their service, and they're consistently far below par. Wish I could give them 0 stars, since that's what their internet is worth. For online gaming, you can expect bursts of 5 or 6 minutes of the service working fine, followed by anywhere up to two minutes of... nothing. You're still technically connected, and you may get chat updates, but the game world will be frozen. This makes the service entirely unusable for online gaming, and to add insult to injury, they have a "soft cap" of just 50 gigabytes a month. Anything over this makes the internet even worse than it already is. We've had techs come out several times in an attempt to fix the internet to no avail. Calling over the phone, if they even pick up, results in them saying "it looks fine on our end" and suggesting the same tired fixes that don't work before offering for techs to come out and try some other janky solution, but the problem is never solved. My phone service has faster speeds, a similar data cap, and a reliable connection. For what Gtek offers, they should be paying *us* $130 a month to test their home internet. read more

This company is very misleading! My internet was off more than it was on over the last 6 months and it was constant calling and arguing with their office people to get someone out to fix it. I was told I would be reimbursed on my bill and never was. I also called and let them know I was moving to schedule cancellation of services and they told me they were going to charge until the end of the month and to call back on the date I wanted services cancelled, so I did. when I did this, they told me someone would be there at 1230. they did not show up for another 3 1/2 hours. I also told them I did not want anyone on my property unless I was present. I left to get food for 15 minutes and returned to find the tech on the property. poor guy had not had food all day as it was 4:00 pm. I guess their office people have no regard for their customers why would they treat their employees any better! no breaks, overwork, and sent on jobs by their self when there should be 2 technicians! unbelievable. read more

The service started out great, until they did an upgrade. I only used the service for tv and computers, not gaming, it was working great until I was called on a Friday and told that they would be upgrading my service on Saturday, great! Well, on Saturday a tech came by and "upgraded" my service, shortly thereafter the efficiency was lost. We were constantly waiting to watch something and when the picture did come through it was blurry. We were unable to work from home and the computer was hard wired to the service. The Monday after the weekend, nothing worked so I called to find out the problem. As it turns out, apparently I didn't pay the bill, was only a couple days late, and they turned off my service, no phone call or any courtesy. I told them to turn it back on and was ready to submit my payment and they said it would take several hours, couldn't understand why. Eventually they did turn it on again so we could work, after arguing with them about getting it turned on quickly (which they can do). Then I told them to come back out and fix their "upgrade" because it wasn't working for us. They refused to fix it that day, so I told them just to cancel the service and get their equipment. Once they got their equipment and turned off their service, I expected to receive a prorated portion of my payment back for the month. I just called them today, 10/05/2022, and was told that THEY DON'T PRORATE. THEY JUST KEEP YOUR MONEY, I PAID $152.00 USD FOR A MONTH OF SERVICE, USED APPROXIMATELY 5 DAYS OF SERVICE AND NOW THEY THINK THEY ARE ENTITLED TO THE FULL AMOUNT OF MY MONEY AND NO ONE TOLD ME THIS WHEN I WAS CANCELLING MY SERVICE. Our internet was down and the company had a service tech out immediately the next day. We live in a rural community where high winds are prominent. Hector Jimenez came out and spent several hours taking time to update equipment and work on the roof to adjust (including building an antennae arm) the receiver and find the tower that would provide us with the best speed and service. Hector was very professional and discussed with my husband (who was at work) in detail exactly what he was doing and the best way to improve the mount on our roof. In the future, if a tech is required to come out I will request Hector Jimenez as our tech. Our internet provider options are limited in our area; so far GTEK has been the best to work with. read more

In 24 hours 23 I have either no internet or it's of such poor quality that I'd be better off with none. I swear that the router they provided has a signal blocker because inside or outside within the range of the router I'm lucky to get 1 bar and I never have the ability to use my cellular data in its range. We're getting charged an insane amount for getting absolutely nothing from this company. The only way to get ahold of anyone is to have my parents who are "priority customers" (poor souls who had an eyesore on their property in exchange for not getting charged for nothing but still having to shoulder part of the electricity the eyesore uses) and have them relay my issue. A single cloud anywhere in my area takes the pathetic service I occasionally get. Worst of all they get you with a 3 year contract and even if the company is at fault for lack of service they will not take off any of the insane cost. read more

Definitely don't recommend G-tek Internet to anyone. Our service is down again, and again there is no estimated time of restoration. I called and was told "we're working on it" I asked about a credit or SOMETHING for the days it's been down (since last time took over 48 hours to come back up and that was only a week ago) and was told they don't give credits for service being down. We pay $80 a month for something we can't use and to cancel our contract would be $300. Even when it works it doesn't work - slow speeds and constant buffering. Customer service skills are poor, I'm obviously not satisfied with their service and the person on the phone offered no apologies for the inconvenience or my frustrations. I know it's just internet it's not that big of a deal to not have it but we pay for it and it doesn't work. Only use Hulu the like, yet can't stream anything without getting countless errors due to internet, whenever I use mobile hotspot it works (proof of where the problem is) not to mention losing internet sporadically, when i call they say it's nothing they can do about it without charging. The service was okay. Only 23 mb/s, for 141.50 a month!! A rip off when considering you can get 6 to 7 times the speed for half the price. However, upon cancellation, I had just paid for a whole months service, I canceled on the 8th, and was told I would not be refunded a prorated amount for the remaining 22 days for the month of June. My internet has been down for 4 days. I spoke to a very nice IT person 3 days ago, but were unsuccessful at fixing the issue. So now I have to wait a total of 7 days until someone one comes out to resolve the internet problem. This is unacceptable. I would encourage other businesses that are interested in serving the rural areas that GTek covers and I would switch. Also, I would spread the word about the new available competitors and force Gtek to make changes with their service. I have been a paying customer for almost 10 years and I am finally fed up. Quit possibly the worst internet service provider on earth! We have to call in daily because our internet is either down or running slower than dial-up! This has been going on for months. They keep telling us that they are having issues with their tower. When we ask about an adjustment on our bill for the times it's down, we are told it's against company policy to do that. Gtek is the worst ISP around since clear went out of business. Do not sign up to this company if you want reliable internet. Count on every night around six in the evening to be throttled down due to congestion. Gtek is either over selling their infrastructure or just throttling heavy users. There are no competitors in the area other than satellite. When satellite isps start to look attractive you know youre in trouble. IF I HAD OTHER CHOICES..... We do not have any other choices in unlimited internet in our area. We are paying $125 per month for the fastest speeds the offer. We don't ever get the speeds the promised with the package that we pay for. We have had more sevice issues and they are not willing to credit the bill they want all their money in full and are not willing to fix the services. They have been "working" on the tower since December 12th, we have had our upload speed faster than our download speeds since that time. They keep telling us that they have a team on it but there are no results. It took me three day's to down load a single movie. I call almost every evening as the internet does not work at all, and we are still expected to pay the full $125.00. I ask for service interruption credits and am just told it is against company policy. This is not the first month we have not been able to use the internet, I know all the tech's by name when i call i can just say " this is H....." and they all can pull up my account. And i am paying them to make me mad. If i could get Spectrum, or AT&T i would change in a flash. read more

GTEK has been my ISP for over 10 years. They are the only option available out in the middle of no where. Their uptime is about 80% trying to get speed anywhere near what is advertised is a laugh. Customer service is nice though. read more

I have had Gtek for a year, and in the last three months have had slowdown issues. They come out and checked the cable, and it seemed to be OK. However now it will not allow streaming video (netflix and Amazon prime) to play. This is unfortunate... perhaps part of the new pay for streaming plan in the news?
