    Veterans Roofing - Roof Replacement

    Veterans Roofing

    (9 reviews)

I want to introduce you to "VETERANS ROOFING" - a reliable, trustworthy roofing company that you'd…read morewant as a good friend! In Washington, knowing a dependable roofer is crucial. There are far too many shady contractors out there! A lot of contractors seem more interested in making money than actually looking out for their customers. Here's a perfect example: I run property management for rental homes in Washington, and one of my client's properties is in DuPont. The neighbor recently paid over $9,000 for a full roof replacement, with all kinds of "discounts." The roofing company convinced the owner that their roof was in terrible condition. The neighbor even told me that the contractor claimed my client's roof was in the same bad shape, with a quarter of the shingles supposedly missing. They even put a big yard sign in between the houses! I told the homeowner what the neighbor said, but I also advised them not to rush into anything until I had a chance to inspect it myself. Now, I hadn't flown my drone in over six months, and during a test flight, a strong gust of wind blew it away. Thankfully, I have a 35-foot carbon fiber pole with an HD camera for situations like this. After inspecting the roof, I found that only four shingles were missing - the rest of the roof was in excellent shape with many years of life left. I reached out to several roofing companies for a repair quote, sending them photos of the missing shingles. They all wanted to charge nearly $2,300 just to replace those four to six shingles! Their excuse? The cost of bringing out "equipment" and "insurance." I guess they must be smoking a lot of weed in their offices to come up with those prices. After relaying this to my client, I contacted Veterans Roofing, who I've worked with before and trust. They came out, confirmed five shingles were missing, and found some poor workmanship from the original builder. Not only did they replace the shingles, but they also corrected and repaired the areas where the original company had cut corners. If you need roofing repairs or replacement, I highly recommend VETERANS ROOFING. Give them a call - you won't regret having a good friend on your side!

I received excellent communication from the office before, during and after completion of the job. I was impressed with the quality and professionalism of the roofing crew. Mears was head and shoulders above all the others. The other roofers sent salesman out. Leona and Ericka, Mears operational staff, worked with me and were flexible on timing my roof replacement, to include gutters and skylight. The roofing crew exceeded my expectations for professionalism and workmanship. And given my research, their price was very reasonable. Save yourself the hassle and if you have issues with your roof, call Mears. You won't regret it.

They did an impeccable job! They cost to value of service they provides is amazing and you can't better quality than they did especially for the price. Ryan and his team after getting the job done also talked to me about the condition of my roof and told me how good of shape it was and how I wouldn't need a roof cleaning for 3-5 years. What was different? The quote had attention to every detail and included higher quality materials, better design and superior workmanship. Also the quality of the service was exceptional- communication with the team and among the team was flawless. Our roof was mainly asphalt with a PVC section and needed plywood to be added on top of the old ship lap. It also needed venting - which can be tricky- especially providing intakes on a 1940s house. All this was included in the quote. They had no problem adding 2 skylights with no upcharge-save the cost of the skylights themselves. The team is up to date and educated on the latest advances and details of techniques. I am so thankful to have found Three Tree. I have worked with contractors extensively on two old properties over 20 years, and Three Tree was probably the best. Prior to hiring them I talked with my former roofer - who now only does very high end work(John Michael Roofing). He has seen many roofs and said Three Tree does good quality work. He also advised me to beware in hiring a roofer as there are many pitfalls. With that advice I proceeded with more caution than I would have otherwise!

Lakewood Roofing - Gaps in trusses

    Lakewood Roofing

We hired Lakewood Roofing after the November 2024 windstorm, when a tree fell on our home. Their…read morerepresentative, Lia, came to our door and assured us they would work directly with our insurance company to handle everything -- new roof, gutters, and siding. Since we had never dealt with an insurance claim before, this sounded like a huge relief. Unfortunately, the experience became a long, stressful, and costly ordeal. They installed a new roof and skylight, but the problems started immediately. After the roof was "finished," we discovered half inch gaps in the truss repair. When we raised concerns, they made it seem like we didn't know what we were talking about -- until an inspector confirmed the work was unacceptable. Only then did they come back to fix it. During that process, we asked for the permit they claimed had been filed. They provided it, but we discovered it had been submitted after we asked for it. The project was not properly permitted from the start. The skylight installation was also left unfinished. They told us they couldn't repaint because they "couldn't color match," again implying that we, as homeowners, didn't understand how paint matching works. After several back and forth, my husband and I went out, got the correct paint match ourselves, and only then did they complete the job. Even now, the flashing around the skylight is not square -- which we now know is contributing to some of the leaks in our roof. It took months of delays before they finally admitted they would not be completing the gutters and siding that were promised and included in our contract. We were forced to find another contractor, losing valuable time during an already stressful recovery. They basically used this as a sales tactic. We also discovered that they removed and replaced our roof decking without authorization. The insurance company refused to reimburse them because they couldn't prove the work was necessary -- leaving us stuck in the middle of a dispute we never agreed to. To make matters worse, we later found out they altered the signed contract, but thankfully we had taken photos of the original at the time of signing. Fast forward a year, and we noticed moisture spots on our ceiling. After checking the attic, we found multiple leaks and significant black mold growth. This is not only unacceptable workmanship -- it's a serious health and safety issue. Overall, Lakewood Roofing failed to deliver on their promises, performed substandard work, and created additional problems that we are still dealing with today. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a roofing contractor. Summary of Issues * Promised to handle roof, gutters, and siding, then backed out months later. * Installed roof with half inch gaps in truss repair and dismissed our concerns until an inspector confirmed the issue. * Filed required permits after work had already begun. * Skylight left unfinished; told us they couldn't color match and implied we didn't understand paint matching. * Flashing around skylight installed out of square, contributing to leaks. * Removed and replaced roof decking without authorization; insurance refused reimbursement. Almost a year later we got an invoice for this, but had to threaten with lawyers for all the other issues before they dropped this. * Altered the signed contract -- we caught it only because we had photos of the original. * A year later, discovered multiple leaks and black mold in the attic.

The initial install was done so badly that the value of my home has been permanently diminished and it needs to be re-sheeted to make it right again. The MULTIPLE visits by their crews to correct the countless mistakes made, have all been half assed at best, they fix one thing and ignore several others, causing more delays and more scheduling conflicts. The lack of communication is infuriating, I've explained several times that we need to make arraignments for our pets prior to workers showing up, and continually they cannot be bothered. I guess working on the NEXT roof is more important than finishing mine. This was supposed to be done in July and we are halfway through October and weather is coming in fast. Sure, everyone has apologized, and they keep saying they will make it right, but in the meantime, I am still dealing with this aggravation, my house still has the scars of a horrible roofing job, and now I have missed my window of opportunity to repaint the home before winter sets in and will no doubt be facing increased costs for not repainting it in a timely fashion.
