I am disappointed in the number of bad reviews GrowJoy has gotten. Patience is a much required virtue during this never-ending pandemic. I recently ordered a number of mum and ornamental grasses plants. Since the supply chain, including shipping, has been suffering, I excused the fact that there were a couple of leaves dying on my mums. I was skeptical about being able to buy plants online but was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked out. I was blown away by what great customer service this company has! It really makes a difference when a company reaches out to try to make things right when things don't go as planned. I was so pleased with the variety of herbs they carry, especially the Greek basil. All my herbs have been thriving since I repotted them. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is that I find the website difficult to browse if I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. Horrible customer service. Received my plants and one was DOA. Immediately photographed and contacted the company via their ticket method (and uploaded photo). I was told they were awarding me "points" toward a future purchase instead of a replacement plant sent. Upon investigating, the "points" only paid for the $6 plant and I would still have to pay $14.99 for shipping. They repeatedly refused to send a replacement and said they have limited quantities of plants. However, I was free to re-order that same plant online (and pay the shipping). Filed a BBB complaint and today they finally agreed to refund my money for the dead plant. Would not recommend ordering from this company! read more

8-13-21 UPDATE: I received a refund to my PayPal account YESTERDAY 8-12-21. After trying their new 'happyfox' customer service link failed to work properly, I had given up. I lost well over the $20.35 in valuable time lost with all the numerous attempts at contacting for resolution. Nice to see owner or Ashley (whichever it actually was) responded to my Yelp review. But seriously don't know if I'll ever order again. I'd love to reorder the plants I didn't get, that they were still showing as available in my state but couldn't simply send them. If I ever were to order again, it'll be a small order & I don't like paying shipping as the prices reflect packaging & shipping in the price as far as I'm concerned. So, I don't know if I'll risk $40 to get free shipping. My one unique plant, I ordered & did receive that was $19, is just now starting to look like a $19 plant. I guess that's what happens when you basically received not much more than a seedling. My local nursery (approx. 1 -2 miles away) surprised me this year with some of the same plants I ordered from Grow Joy for a whopping (not exaggerating here) $3 each. They were the same size or larger than Grow Joy's. All healthy. No sale. Regular price. I will be going there 1st in the future. It's best to support local, small businesses, in times like these anyway. No rust, as apparently this one plant I rcvd from Grow Joy is destined to not recover from, & for what I pay GrowJoy for the convenience of not leaving the house.....after this year...not worth it. I'm thankful to at least get a refund. VERY LATE IS BETTER THAN NEVER. I can only imagine how many customers they need to refund & 'make things right' with. It will be their only saving grace. You cannot, despite unfortunate situations & circumstances run your business in the way they did this year. I have owned my own small business for 25 years. I believe in honesty. But I can't imagine continuing to sell more products to other customers & putting others on the back burner, LITERALLY. Don't know how long they've been in business but I surely hope they can survive after this year of misplaced priorities. I know it doesn't seem to be this way as much as it should be these days, but taking care of issues & refunds & good customer service in general is THE BEST THING A BUSINESS OWNER CAN HAVE/DO when things go awry. I see someone just left a 5 star review a few days ago. I wish I could do the same. I felt GrowJoy was a smaller, reputable company worth giving my support. It's clear to see based on other reviews here that I'm not the only customer that found it EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING for GrowJoy to be taking orders & shipping a plant (same exact plant - SAME EXACT STATE) to someone else rather than ship to the person who ordered & paid 1st, saying they were unavailable. Again, misplaced priorities. Added insult to already bad situation. I've never seen a business have an F rating with the BBB. Being a member myself, it takes sheer non responsiveness of the business. I don't know if GrowJoy will ever be eligible to be a BBB member after this year, but I would highly recommend they respond to those reviews & settle those disputes. BBB is still the best place to make a decision as to whether or not to do business with someone or not. The worst company to deal with.... The worst company to deal with. They took orders, delayed sending plants. One order had a cancelled item on it. The other order was dead. "Customer Service" is only handled through email which they do not answer. They owe me a small amount of money but there is no way to get to them. Indiana requires a fee to file in Small Claims Court which makes it not worth the effort. They send out marketing emails but will not answer their customers. read more

I ordered 7 Giant Belgium Pink Tomato Plants on May 20, 2021, they charged my credit card $43.75. I was notified on May 23, 2021 that they had a crop failure and they would refund my money. Buyer beware. This used to be my go-to nursery. However, last October I ordered plants for Spring 2021 and I did not get them all. They charged my credit card at the time of order as well. Two plants were "backordered" and two were "canceled". They didn't send me notification - just wrote it on the packing list. The four plants never came and after repeated calls and a message on their website, I finally went to Pay Pal to get my reimbursement. It's nothing to do with them but they want to help. This is an old fashioned caring company. If for any reason you have an issue, reach out to them and they will fix it. Simply, I am impressed. Impressed with the quality of the five stonecrop (sedum) plants I received. GrowJoy uses a unique packaging that insures the plants stay upright and sheltered in transit. these little beauties arrived in perfect shape and are growing leaps and bounds. I've been gardening for years and, aside from my local nursery, I've ordered plants from various online stores. This year, I ordered 2 Incrediball Blush Hydrangea to compliment the one I planted last year which is thriving. The plants came in ok shape--rather wilty--but I prepared the bed and planted them anyway. One of them struggled but is doing well, yet the other (planted in between the successful ones) died. You'll note on the top of their site it reads "Satisfaction Guaranteed". Yeah, that's a big fat lie. I contacted GrowJoy about this issue and they refused to take any responsibility for it, blaming weather, my soil and me. Their window for "satisfaction" is within the 24 hours of receipt of their plants. Period. Now, as I've said, I've ordered from other online sources. Any issue I've had with their plants has been true satisfaction. Take photos, get advice, and, if that doesn't work, a refund, credit or replacement. NOT GrowJoy. Nope. Instead a big FU. I like their annuals so I may order from them for that again, but nothing else. It'd be like taking money and flushing it down the toilet. read more

They let you know if the plant is safe to grow in my zone. They also know how to ship plants in specially designed packaging to protect the plants. This was our first time ordering live plants through the mail, we were skeptical. Our entire order was packed with care, there was zero room in the box for anything to move or get damaged. Their customer service was wonderfully helpful while placing our order. The plants went from Indiana to New York in 2 days via UPS. We would absolutely recommend buying from Garden Harvest Supply. We wound up ordering 4 types of tomatoes, some lettuces, beets, radishes, cukes, cauliflower, beans, strawberries, and a bunch of herbs. All were heirloom / heritage varieties. My plants were supposed to ship Feb 15. Instead, I received an email stating that the weather and other issues had delayed shipping, and that my order would ship in 2 weeks. OK - I can deal with that. There was a nasty storm. A two week delay would just give me bigger plants, yes? 2 weeks later, nothing arrived and I received no updates, so I emailed GrowJoy. They gave a different excuse and said my order would ship soon. Soon passed and I received another email indicating again that my order would ship in 1-2 weeks. As this was the third such email, I no longer believed it and responded asking if they would guarantee that. No response. It's pretty clear that these plants aren't sitting in a hot house growing. Instead, they haven't grown the plants yet, or are just getting them started. They were not direct/honest about their issue because they didn't want people to cancel their orders. I am now stuck with whatever happens because I passed up the opportunity to buy heat tolerant tomatoes locally, and local sources are now out of these varieties. It was a HUGE mistake to believe GrowJoy when, on Feb 15, they said my order would ship in 1-2 weeks. Now March 18, still not sure when/if plants will arrive, or what shape they'll be in. Growjoy.com is a great online company for ordering plants. All of the plants I have ordered from them have always been packaged as well as they can so that they don't dry out when shipping. Once planted, they all survived and thriving. I also like their customer service for helping a novice like me on how to plant & take care of my plants. They also have varieties of plants that other companies don't have. They have also notified me of when there was a crop failure and not charged me or even refunded the $$ back to me without me having to do anything. Last year, spring 2020 I ordered from Grow Joy and was pleased with the plants I received and the time in which they delivered. Since they did a good job last year I spent even more money on plants with them this year, BIG MISTAKE. I had ordered in February and in early May, still had not received anything by June 12th so I e-mailed and asked them to cancel my orders since it was getting late in the season. I was very polite in my e-mail letting them know that I liked their service in 2020. No response until June 18th when they told me my order from May shipped on June 14th, still 2 days after I wanted my orders canceled. Received my plants in good health but very small, I'm having doubts they will bloom before first frost. NO direct response to my e-mail and NO mention of the order I had placed and paid for in February. Finally I had to go to Paypal and put in a complaint for not having received my order. One day after Paypal sent them my complaint I get an e-mail from Grow Joy saying we canceled your February order. That was it, NO "we're sorry we couldn't get you your plants", nothing. No mention of when I will receive my money back. I am SO mad right now! Now I have to go back to Paypal and escalate my complaint so I can get my money back. To anyone who read my previous 1-star review, I hope you read this one as well. I wish I knew then what I know now. I have ordered live plants online before so I had something to which I could compare this order. I have never seen such attention in packaging and sending live plants. The quality of the packaging materials surpassed any previous experience from other nurseries and greenhouses. The quality of the plants gets a 5-star rating from me. They arrived in perfect condition as if I had purchased them locally. The instructions that were included displayed care and concern for every plant. I cannot give 5 stars simply because of the lack of communication while my order was being delayed. Now, I have a better idea. If each order is packaged as carefully as mine was, finding time to communicate would be difficult. I do hope GrowJoy figures out a way to communicate with its online customers and not compromise quality. read more

Today is June 14 and the website does not show any indications that the plants were ever shipped. Even if they were, which I doubt, they will be late and it's too late to get them from other sources. These were the worst plants I have ever purchased. They were 16 days later than promised and looked terrible. At least 4 are totally dead and 2 more are iffy. If you would walk by these at Lowes or Wal-Mart you would laugh and keep on going. If this is how they do business One would do better going with one of the more prominent and visible companies. We ordered multiple orders for a time sensitive garden project for our non profit. Initially, we heard from the Owner "Joe" via email who apologized and referred us to their customer service manager "Ashley". Ashley comes across as overwhelmed and under skilled as she placated us with apologies and promised to ship the missing orders. However, that was two weeks ago and not all of the order have been received and no refund has been processed. We have written multiple polite emails requesting our orders, left polite messages and NOTHING and now the customer service manager will not take our calls. This appears to be a business fraught with problems and on the top of the list is customer service. We will try one last time to reach them, thereafter going to our bank for a reversal of charges and filing a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General. Clearly, they are struggling to serve many customers and the reviews reflect our experience too... we are feeling it. The issues with all the missing plants in people orders and taking peoples money without fulfilling orders is a problem worth consumer protection looking into their practices. I can't tell if this company is really a scam or if they are just horrifically understaffed. But I keep getting promotional emails from them about plants on sale. If they are so understaffed that they can't answer emails, phone calls, or Facebook messages, all of which I've sent them about an incredibly problematic order, then they should stop taking orders for a bit until they can catch up a little. A few things went wrong with my order, but the worst is that they sent me plants that were in terrible shape, with the leaves appearing to be burned and chewed up all around the edges, and not many leaves left anymore. I think they were infested with eelworms, which could have spread in my garden, so I had to throw them out. It's impossible to reach GrowJoy and they haven't responded to the message I sent them a week ago through their website. read more

Ordered 3 plants and when they arrived, all nearly dead. Uploaded pictures and sent. They did not respond to their online emails so I uploaded pics of my dying plants on their facebook page. Got apologies. Got an email and was told to transplant the plants and wait 10 days. I called at this point and inquired about what is exactly the guarantee and was told to wait 10 days and it would be decided. I find the product as compared to pictures is misleading as well as the "guarantee". With any other company a refund would be issued. It was as if they were blaming me that something happened in the shipment, describing the soil being loose in the box causing the stress of the plant. I told them this was not the case, the plants were intact in their pots and sealed in plastic bags but they were frail, brown leaves, trimmed stems, dying stems and paled in comparison to the pictures on the website. Would definitely not recommend. Noticed there are complaints on other websites. UPDATE: I was contacted and offered a refund. Thankful for this. 2nd update: Tried to cancel 2nd order from a week ago; unable to. However, plants (2 on the far right below), bougainvillea and a lavender lantana arrived safe, "ALIVE" and very healthy. Big improvement from the first order. Thank you. The packaging for 2nd order was impressive, allowed the plants to breathe but protected the roots and the base of the plant. Changed from 1 start to 2. Plants are rather small compared to what you can purchase at local stores for the price of $10.95 and $8.95. I do appreciate the improvement on the quality of the 2nd order however. read more
