Being a pata sucia has never been so much fun! This year was my first time at Grovetoberfest. Got tickets through livingsocial that allowed us to come in an hour ahead of everyone else before the crowds got worse. We also got a free Grovetoberfest beer glass. The deal is def worth getting. There were 300 different beers to choose from, unlimited tastings on them all. The music was really good as well. I don't know the name of the band that was performing, I think it was a local group, but they did an excellent job with the song covers. They had me movin' and groovin' the whole time. Make sure to bring cash since some of the food vendors were cash only. I tried the BBQ vendor and the arepa vendor. I have to say that both were delicious and perfect for a beer-filled day. The only negative was that it was raining all day the day before and the ground was all muddy and nastyyyy (see pics). Bring rain boots if you don't want to end up a pata sucia!!!

What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon/evening drinking various beers with your friends. My friends and I decide to do it VIP style and let me tell you that is the way to go. You got one flannigans meal provided to you that consistent of ribs, signature Flannigans garlic rolls and coleslaw. All very good. The bathrooms had AC as oppose to porter potties. The lines weren't terrible and there was a variety of beers to try. They provided seating areas to eat and great photo booths. My only regret was that I did not bring along my beloved dog to join in on the festivities for it was a great opportunity to do so . Highly recommend for next year .

I was coming out of the Viceroy and check my phone. My friend Bo suggested that we hit up peacock park tomorrow since he had a pair of VIP tickets for Grovetoberfest. I moved my appointments and I decided to go a head and make it. He had VIP entrance so we were let in an hour before the event actually started and get a first glance and taste of all the beer and merchandise. Over 400 beer brands were available, including american, imported and folks that brew for the love of beer. Will I be back next year? HELL YES! If you decide to come i really suggest that you get your VIP tickets though, you get in first, and you get a bunch of cool stuff. You have your own personal tent with local restaurants catering to you with their most outstanding dishes. We were offered small tapas, chorizo and garbanzo from La Frogale, they had Colombian food and vendors, ceviche from Panorama and pastas from other local restaurants. Besides cups, t-shirts and your regular this and that. We got our own personal portable bathrooms with AC. You may not think its a big deal but in a hot sunny day in a middle of a park the least you want is to go on the regular bathrooms that are twice as smaller , no AC and its hot and muggy. Make sure you check out invasive species, my friend Phil Gilis is the brewer, brewing TaiWhit Beer which tasted really, really good. They had a stage, they had a lot of covers from local artists playing all kinds of songs. The music was chill and leaning more toward reggae, very relaxing and accommodating to me and my mood. I tried a little bit of everything, they had three types of pumpkin beer, i have to say blue moon still makes the best pumpkin beer. But regardless for me all I need is my red stripe at hand and life is just plain good. Invasive Species Brewing: Invasive Species Brewing (ISB) is a four man club consisting of Phil and Jim Gillis, Josh Levitt, and Alex Perez. Together they have over seven years of brewing experience on which they continue to build. In the beginning, ISB started, as many people do, with extract based recipe kits and five gallon buckets. Now, they brew on two home-made, all-grain systems that can produce 10-12 gallons each. The moniker "Invasive Species" is a result of the club's love for Florida's unique native environment, as well as, their goal to become an "invasive species" in the local craft beer scene. ISB's most popular recipes, such as Curly Tail Cream Ale and Walking Catfish Thai Wit, are named after invasive species that plague Florida's terrestrial and aquatic habitats. They hope to raise awareness and educate using the freshest, hand-crafted beer they can make. What started out as a mere hobby has grown into a life-style that permeates through ISB's members, friends, and family. Invasive Species Brewing currently maintains its club status, but has plans of expanding into a production brewery sooner rather than later. Always happy to enjoy good times and make great beer, ask them about having a custom beer made for your next event and follow the invasion at facebook.com/invasivebrewing! We only hope that if this year was this awesome things just get better and better with time. Until then people DONT WORRY....BEER HAPPY!!!

This was a great event for Miami. We went with General Admission tickets which allowed entry at 4pm. There were brewery's from around the country; there seemed to be a well over 100 and each generally had 3 beers. The best part, the lines were short and the people friendly - both often rare in Miami. Food options were plentiful - opted for Tacos and Tattoos. One regret was the German culture aspect was missing - usually a staple at any Oktoberfest event.

Enjoying many beers & VIP @ Grovetoberfest!

This year's evsnt was awesome! It was a great way to celebrate ny birthday! It was worth getting VIP (better if you can get the discounted price). However, the bathrooms were not air conditioned as promised but it was nice not to have to use the port-o-potty! It was crazy hot this year, strongly recommend summer attire, shades and maybe even a hat. The sun was blistering! The give-aways were great as well! My mom & I had an amazing time and I hope to attend future events!

I can't believe it took me to long to check out the Miami Flea!…read more I stopped by last weekend for their holiday bazaar and was in love with all the vendors! From jewelry to crystals to succulents and art, there was something for everyone at the Miami Flea. They also had live music which was super festive and a bar with cocktails. The cocktails were from Mac's pub and super refreshing and tropical. Some of my favorite vendors included Martha of Miami with her Miami AF merchandise, Wagboss and La Succulenta. I left with inspirational jewelry from lucky bee, and a full heart from all the Local love that was going on that day. Aside from the shopping they also have a section for food. I didn't try, but the options were varied and looked delish. Parking can be tricky. There's a few cash lots around but I got lucky with street parking near by. The Miami Flea is a fun spot to support local! Shout out to all the small biz owners following their dreams and making Miami a truly unique place :)

It would be cool if they opened the application up to one-time vendors or pop-ups. I wouldn't really make it your main destination for the day, but just a short stop to somewhere else in downtown or Wynwood. I've only purchased food like coffee, macarons, etc. here. Never saw any stuff I actually wanted to buy. The vintage stuff vendor is pretty cool though. It's great for people watching and chilling because a variety of characters show up.

It felt like a vibrant meeting point for cultures and creative voices, which is exactly what you hope for during Basel week. Food and drinks were also available for purchase, which was a nice bonus and made it easy to spend more time there without needing to step out. Overall, it was a fun and inspiring stop during Art Basel, perfect for anyone looking to explore contemporary art from both emerging and established artists in a lively atmosphere. Highly recommended if you're in town for Basel. My mix review is due to the high cost of the food and the terrible parking situation, almost one hour to leave. I usually love these type of events. Every time the SOBEWFF comes around I get excited, and look…read moreat all the events to see if I can make it to at least one. Unfortunately, this year, I wasn't able to but, found this "satellite" event and decided to give it a chance, with my friends. Local restaurants featuring one of their dishes, wines and spirits flowing, a DJ to dance, and all this at the beautiful Moore Building, it was sure to be an amazing event. We bought the General Admission ticket... figured, 3.5 hours would be enough time to sample all, at a comfortable pace. 8:30pm, right on time, they started letting us in. Pretty organized, friendly people working the ticket lines, and as soon as you walked in, there was the first station with, what else, drinks. There was also a picture wall and to the other side the LYFT photo booth (these are always fun!) First floor was more drinks than food but, we did get to try the Pastrami Sandwich from The Naked Lunch which was delicious! Cheese perfectly melted, very flavorful, and very friendly people working their station. Next to them was The Naked Taco serving SX Tequila cocktails and shots. My favorite has to be the coffee flavored one, and they had a Coconut Basil Caipirinha, that was very refreshing. There was also the Modelo beer station, vodka shots and drinks, and Chef Adrianne's Vineyard Restaurant. I've heard so many great things about this restaurant and, the dish they prepared for the event proved that right. It was some type of Ropa Vieja on top of a flat bread, with corn on top. So tender, and incredibly well seasoned. Definitely one of the best of the night. Second floor was a bit of a disappointment. First station was for a paella but it was completely done by 9pm. Two stations down, another empty one. Event ran until midnight, still 3 hours to go and they were running out of food. Not a good sign. You must understand why I have to deduct stars from the rating. We kept sampling floors 2 - 4. Some of the food was unmemorable, unfortunately but, the Rice & Chicken from Nikki Beach stood out, mostly because it was the most substantial dish of the night and flavor was good. Also, the sushi from Green Plate Asian Bistro was one I would go back for. I was happy to see a water bottle station, I mean, drinks are great but water is needed and not all events realize this. Now we went for desserts, unfortunately these were a little disappointing too. Krispy Kreme is not my idea of dessert, especially at a "foodies" event. Found it comical to see people carrying (dozen doughnut) boxes during the event. Of the few I tried the only one I truly remember, and the only business card I walked out with, was the Guava cupcake from Slice of Art. I'm not a cupcake fan but this one was perfection. The Guava flavor was on point and so fresh. What's dessert without coffee, right? Well, Segafredo got you covered. Their Espresso martini was a caffeine junky heaven. Loved it! At one point the 3rd floor got really crowded and was uncomfortable to walk by, especially when there's drunk people being loud and covering the area taking dozens of selfies (thankfully there weren't a lot of these... nice to see most people knew how to behave at this type of event). Also, the VIP lounge, other than for seating, if you were wearing painful high heels, not worth it at all, in my opinion. It was small and by what I saw, only 1 or two extra drinks there, that was it. To end the night we went back to the first floor where the DJ was playing great tunes for dancing. We joined in until he started playing some oldies, and that was our cue to say goodbye to the 2015 Eats & Beats. To be honest, I did enjoy the event but not to the point to pay again to attend. It's good to find "new" places but, this can also be done during "Restaurant Month" or Local food festivals during the year that are less expensive. I think it's just an OK event to experience once and that's it. In my opinion, you are better off investing the estra money in one of the official SOBEWFF.

After stalking previous year's photos, I wasn't sure if it was just the models who were fancy, or if patrons should go all out. Why express my fashion woes, you wonder? Well, in Miami, you always feel unfashionable compared to all others and this event was not an exception. People were dressed to the nine's...or should I have nine million dollars considering the number of fur coats I witnessed. A great mix of food places and drinks. I hit up the Yelp booth. HOLLA! Alex manning the Yelp booth was dabomb.com. A few highlights: -ice bar...yes, it really was made of ice. -the eats were arranged beautifully, in cool little spoons. And they weren't sparse with some places giving out basically entire meals! -cupcakes galore -The Moore Building -VIP...haha two twenty-two year olds walking around with doughnut boxes. We were able to arrive at 7:30 and get first dibs on everything and the lay of the land when it was a bit quieter which was a real treat! -the entire boxes of Krispy Kreme they were giving out. The backdrop biscayne blvd was gorgeous, the performances were lovely and the music just kept my hips moving the entire time. It was great to try the different food trucks. There were about 15 of them. They all definitely made a killing and I am so happy for them to have had this chance to get their name out there, too. I think they are a great addition to this city and definitely a trend that will only grow larger. I loved that this event had two stages, an adult center stage and then a side stage that was family oriented and had more cultural performances. The Japanese drummers were phenomenally cool --awesome rhythms and great energy! The Peruvian Expression group had me in a complete trance the whole time. I loved all of the different rhythms and that singers voice was just divine! I could listen to it all day. Whether she was talking or singing, she just had this magnetic charm about her. Oh, and the Junkanoo parade hit the spot, too. Great constumes and great energy and pull factor, too! The crowd loved it! The kids seemed to have some really cool crafts that, admittedly, I wished I could've snuck in and done with them ;). The arts booths were great because I was able to learn about new galleries and new programs and sign up for some great mailing lists. On top of that, the give-a-ways were great! Tote bags, folders, pocket fans, discount tickets, and more! As simple as it was, I have to say the Vitamin Water give-a-way was my fav! Genius!! Pure freakin' genius! There was actually a fair amount of seating if you knew where to look, too. So, the downside...surprisingly, neither parking nor traffic is on the list. Traffic was fine. My only complaint about parking is that they pulled a fast one and charged $10 parking for this "free" event. However, for the quick and savvy, like my dear Claudia J., you know there is parking on the very very nearby 1st Ave and 1st Ct at regular meter price. Hellloo! Ok, and the other downside, the main walkway was lined with trucks, which initially seemed great, but it was far too congested in the end. I hope they develop a new solution for that. Also, the big beast today was the unbearable HEAT! Please, guys, move this to October or at least late September. Either way, I'm there! Three hours there was perfect, although I would've been fine with staying longer, too, because the rhythms were just so wonderful! Getting there at 12:30 had us eating with virtually no lines!!

A great place to gather artists and admirers and douse them with art and chocolate. Unfortunately, there really wasn't much to it. I thought this was going to be Art walk on steroids, unfortunately that is not was it was. It was like a Christmas bazaar meets the Art walk. It would have been expensive if I hadn't bought a groupon. For $9 a ticket, but then found it for $8 on living social, but it was too late. I decide not to fight with parking as we always do in Wynwood and pre purchased parking with park jockey. It was $10. The website asked if I wanted to put into my Apple Passport and I opted yes. When I got to the parking area the attendant didn't want to let me in because he didn't know what the passport was and said he couldn't except it because he didn't have a QR reader. I had to go to the App and show him my receipt. When you walked in the entrance they gave you a poster of the event. On the right was a line up of food trucks and food vendors. There was a great variety. Across from the food was a string of vendors in tents that ranged from glass cleaner to massage accessories. Then there was a huge pavilion tent with two bars high tables and chairs and a food vendor that wasn't ready still at 2 pm when the place opened at noon. There was a small stage for bands with two bars next to it. There was a village of little white tents that held all kinds of vendors from leather bow ties to beer mini cupcakes. I even signed up for Uber and got a twenty dollar credit for my first ride. There was another large tent that held art work and a Cadillac. I felt that with the space they had there could have been more exhibits. They did have two DJ on different sides of the venue. They also had live art work during the event (see the video). They even have girls splattering paint on each other. I did pay $4 bottle water and chicken wings with waffles 12.50. Over all it was a good time with my daughter and my grandson, but I have more fun at Art Walk. Plus the art galleries weren't open like they are during Art walk. I went to this in the afternoon and I don't know if the night was better. I was told parking and tickets were more expensive. I won't go again unless they make it bigger and cheaper.
