Wynwood is all about the art, so it saddened me yesterday to see... a lack of art.
The festival itself was nice. A fun activity to partake in with friends or family or by yourself even!
Right off the bat, I will say this - if you can, take an Uber here. Parking is a pain in the butt, especially if you don't want to walk several blocks alone in the dark after.
The layout was cool. If you went through the 'official' entrance, you would have walked down an array of vendors, selling clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc.. Towards the end, the food trucks started to appear along with the main stage housing bands. The main stage was surrounded by the 'Live Art' section, more food trucks, and more vendors.
It's interesting to walk around, get a bite to eat, and "window-shop". The music was alright. We got here early (around 7ish), so I'm not sure if it got more rowdy and wild later into the night, but when we got here it was pretty chill. The tent wasn't crazy crowded with people as they sometimes get, so that was a relief.
After eating at one of the food trucks and listening to the music for a bit, we decided to visit the Live Art section. It was honestly very disappointing. They had walls up where attendees could write little notes, but there wasn't much else to look at. While we waited in line for free shirts, the live painting began, and while I admire the artists for doing their thing, it would've been interesting if they interacted with the small audience somehow.
After we got our shirts, we decided to leave and go to a nearby pub.
If you RSVPed, you were eligible for a free drink, but there were also twins walking around handing out free drink coupons. While I didn't have anything, my friends did. What did they think of the drinks? "If it's free, it's good."
Also, if you wanted a bottle of water you had to visit one of the event sponsored stands. I only counted 3, so that was definitely a nuisance. read more
