Owner Krys Bailey's introduction warning, that we may not be able to return to our seats easily if we needed to attend to a bodily call as we would be competing with cast members congregating in the lobby, was representative of the "down home" feel of Le Chat Noir. We have been long time subscription holders and have enjoyed and appreciated the play and musical selections, the set design, casting, the creative interpretation of the script and the intimate feeling of the theater. I was particularly impressed by the logistics of table calling for the buffet, a feat I feel could have been disastrous if not planned effectively. I had mixed feelings about the food itself, the squash casserole was delicious, the chicken piccata was disappointingly dry, and the London broil was quite good but they gave you one disappointingly small piece. The dessert, I chose a slice of lemon cake, had a wonderfully light and sweet frosting but the cake itself was a little dry. As for the performance section I was overwhelming pleased by the level of performance skill. It was the opening night, which always has potential mistakes (especially from local or volunteer performers) but it was a pristine performance. Set changes were smooth, the play commentary was well done. The audience was excited to be there and actively took part in the sections where audience participation was called for. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has an interest in musical theater. I will warn you the prices are a bit high for the quality of buffet, but not bad overall (about $53 per ticket for civilians).

The inside had Art exhibits that were a part of the Westobou Festival. The outside had a stage setup for a concert, a Ferris Wheel, and tons of games for kids and adults. The space is only occupied by the Festival for about a week. Other than that it is free for rental. Because it is located downtown off Telfair Street the parking situation is tricky. There is street parking and once that is all full, people get a bit creative. Overall, I like the venue. I'd visit again.
