This is a class you HAVE to join! I remember when I first heard about it, I thought there was no way that I could participate in something like this or that, the trainer would be all about themselves and what they have done and can do. I could not have been more WRONG, after attending the first class, meeting the classmates, Jake (the trainer) and seeing the phenomenal setting, I was hooked and have been happily participating for 6 months! I can honestly say that I have never attended an identical class, Jake is very creative in how he gets you to exercise and workout and you never get bored, sure he definitely pushes you to do your best and succeed, but you definitely get out of the class what you put into it. If you're a beginner like I was, that's ok, Jake will create a modified workout for you until you build up the strength and or stamina to do the full versions of the exercises. Finally, the other classmates are great and have become friends, you workout, sweat and succeed together and everyone there is extremely supportive of each other no-matter what level you are at. I signed up for an osteoporosis research study in February 2011. At that time, Johns Hopkins measured my bone density to be that of a woman my age (58) and suggested that performing regular resistance exercises could help maintain or improve my bone density. I couldn't see myself tied to a regiment of lifting weights at the gym and decided to give Jake with Group Fit a try. Jake combines all the facets for a complete workout: cardiovascular, flexibility, but I couldn't figure how Jake would incorporate strength training. He sneaks it in! As someone that always starts a workout routine with good intentions and gets thrown off quickly, I can really say that this is as good as it gets. I was initially put off by the thought of having to work out in the morning (making excuses) but quickly found it is a great way to start my day. I've been attending class for almost two months and can already really see my strength improving. Class is never so intense you feel left behind, but with the variations Jake throws in, you can always complete an exercise at a level comfortable for you. Jake is a great instructor and learns your limits, but also encourages you to push yourself. I would encourage anyone that's tried the gym thing without much success to give this a try, it's fun and effective and everyone is very welcoming and encouraging. read more

Picture this: start your day with a warm-up on a wooded trail. Then head out to the beach for a hardcore workout while the sun rises over the Chesapeake Bay. It sounds amazing, and it is amazing. Group Fit Boot camp is a 5-star workout experience! Every day the workout is different, but it's always challenging. The trainer is extremely knowledgeable and creative when it comes to keeping the class fun and interesting. He also gets to know each participant and their fitness level. There is no chance to slack off during this boot camp - you'll be push to your personal limit! This is the best boot camp in the area. Jake keeps it fresh and interesting and FUN -- I've been doing this for almost a year and he never repeats a workout. Every fitness level is welcome and challenged from new to exercise to the already fit. You will be surprised at how strong you become from these workouts. Prior to this I was doing the same old body pump classes at the gym and not really getting anywhere. I recently returned to spin class after many months off (I used to spin 3-4 times per week) and found it easy. Jake's boot camp has increased my fitness level dramatically. This is am AMAZING class. If you live in the Annapolis area you owe it to yourself to get up early and experience the beautiful scenery while getting a fun and impactful workout. My entire day is better when I attend class in the morning. Jake is a great instructor who is sensitive to participants various levels for both strength and cardio but will push you to do your best. For over two years, I've been wanted to join a boot camp style class but I never found one that was ideal for me until I discovered the Group Fit website. It did a great job in showing participants doing various exercises. Since I joined in early May I've lost 25 lbs, gained muscle, and I feel better now than I did when I was in the 20s. this is hands down the best workout i have ever done. jake, the instructor, is accommodating, knowledgeable, kind, understanding and just all around amazing guy/trainer. the people i have met have inspired me to do better. at 47 and not in the best shape to start i am down 5 pants sizes and 6 top sizes. i will continue till my body says no more. which with boot camp will hopefully be never!! come join us!! read more

Jake is an outstanding trainer and human being. He trains and educates the whole body. He's always changing things up to keep boot camp interesting and fun. I joined this class through a Goupon and now I plan on continuing my experience with Groupfit because it's so great! Jake is a fantastic trainer and motivates everyone to do their best. I like the accountability the group offers, and I would never work out this hard on my own. I highly recommend it! read more
