This was a great local coffee shop. They offer more than just coffee here. There's a space to sit in the shop and also a small space for children to play. There was quite a line when we arrived, but service was moving well. We ordered drinks and a pastry. There were options for juices/smoothies, and then the coffee/tea selections with different choices for flavourings. They use local milk which is nice. I had myself a mocha and enjoyed it. Who would have thought a small town like Midland (with not many good food places) would have a place that roasts their own beans and makes such great coffee? I went in on a weekday morning and they were packed! Not sure if people were locals or they were people on vacation like I was. I ordered a latte and a nitro cold brew. Latte was good, quite smooth, but i think the milk could have been better. I believe they use a local milk. Nitro cold brew was VERY good, very smooth. I find a lot of places when they make cold brew, there's a sour note at the end. But here there was none. I regret not picking up a bag of beans to bring home. Not only do they sell coffee, but they sell some local produce and honey. I grabbed a jar of honey as well. If you're in Midland make sure you pop in to grab a cup of coffee. During my stay here in Midland, this coffeeshop was the best thing that ever happened. Probably one of the best coffee shops I've ever been to in terms of decor & how spacious it is, the actual coffee and the freshly baked goods in house. 1. Drinks. I tried almost everything on the menu but really liked their matcha love smoothie. It is SO delicious and so healthy too. I also like their matcha latte, get a large cause it's not that much more expensive and the matcha is better dissolved. They make everything with almond milk too so that's another plus! 2. Service. extremely friendly and kind. When I asked to heat up my drink they kindly just made a new cup for me! 3. Atmosphere. Lots of natural lighting cause the space used to be a bicycle ship and got lots of windows. Lots of tables to work on and free wifi! I can't rave about this place enough. If you want to find the world's best latte look no further. Whenever I'm craving a scone I immediately head to this chill cafe. For $7 you can get a coffee and a delicious fresh cinnamon bun. The employees like to keep the line moving, which is great, especially early mornings on my way to work. There's so many things to try in the pastry case. I've had much success online for weekend pickup, those coveted scones go so quick! read more

Amazing coffee shop! Excellent food, free wifi, and the new location on Bay Street has a virus of the bay, lots of light and more seating then the old location. This is the best coffee in Simcoe County. It's worth the drive to Midland just for a capuccino at Grounded! They sell freshly roasted coffee beans too. read more

Learning that there was no starbucks in Midland, ON where I would be spending 3 weeks for work was potentially devastating and dreadful all at once..... But then, I cam across Grounded Coffee Co. and I am sold. Not only is the coffee amazing and fair trade, but they also have almond milk (take that- starbucks!). Their staff is top notch and even further, so are their customers. Highly recommend this little town and this one of a kind coffee shop to any visitor (and locals alike)! read more

Awesome place! Have only been twice but both times the staff were insanely nice and engaging (suspiciously so at first -- my Toronto cynicism at work..). It's a small place, but still bright and welcoming. Indoor seating can get iffy at times due to its popularity, but when it's nice out there are chairs and tables outside to enjoy. I spent the day there recently to work and the staff had no problem with that, offering up their wifi password without hesitation. Being from Toronto I was surprised by how cheap it is. Price isn't normally a huge concern, but it's nice to see them not charging Starbucks prices, even though their coffee is pound for pound much better. Hope they do well and continue to promote better coffee culture in Midland and the surrounding cottage country area. read more

It's wonderful to see high quality, independent coffee houses in small towns. It's a fantastic change from the major chains that dominate these days. I popped into Grounded Coffee Co. as I was passing through Midland. The space is small and cozy with a laid-back decor. There is paid street parking out front and plenty of free parking if you want to walk a short distance. With only the large front windows, it was kind of dark inside but still seemed airy. It was the kind of place I could sit down and enjoy for a long time. Since I had the dogs with me, I chose to sit at the table on the sidewalk out front. It would be nice if there was a water bowl or even a place to tie the dogs to go inside but I realize that's far more than any business should have to do. The menu board appears to be quite extensive with a wide variety of espresso- and coffee-based drinks. I ordered the americano with abbot of sugar and cream and it was lovely. I also had a blueberry scone to go with it. The scone had more of a cakey texture to it with a good amount of blueberries. It wasn't the best scone I've ever had but it was far from the worst. I will definitely stop by there the next time I am in Midland. read more

This is the BEST coffee house in Midland! Went in again this morning after riding my bike into town. Asked for the strongest coffee and was asked strongest in taste or caffeine-WOW! The difference was explained to me and got the strongest in taste. Also picked up an almond biscotti. Coffee was A-1 and the biscotti too-and I know my biscottis as I am called the biscotti Queen. There other treats looks fresh and delicious especially the banana bread-it oozed moistness. Should also mention that service was quick and attentive and the coffee, even with cream, was hot not tepid=are you listening SecondCup! Check out the bean grinder in the back, that's fresh! A bit of a disappointment here after reading all the great reviews. We ordered their pumpkin spice latte and it tasted like puke. Really weird, just didnt taste like pumpkin at all. Their hot chocolate was really good though, probably one of the best we've had. read more

My search for the perfect "go-to" cozy place to take a break, grab a bite and have a change of scenery for writing has come to an end: Grounded, you are the coffee spot of my dreams!! I have been scouting out this place for the past week, and every visit has been a joy. First off, they roast their own beans right there in the shop, and each day they have two types of roast on the brew, fresh and ready to go. Or better yet, stay and enjoy your cup of perfection in the relaxed atmosphere: plenty of comfy tables for 2-4 persons, chill tunes at just the right volume, and speedy reliable wifi - the ideal spot to bring your laptop and get some work done!! But oh, they do so much more than just coffee, and they do it so well. Their "Green Spice" smoothie is my favourite: a green blend with a hit of fresh turmeric juice, just delicious (pro-tip: they also will sell you fresh organic Peruvian turmeric root at an incredibly reasonable price!!) Their baked goods are inventive and irresistible, right up by the register where they will tempt you mercilessly - just give in, you definitely won't regret it. Fresh sandwiches on offer daily (always at least one veggie option), which they will grill for you if you wish. They also make rice paper wraps (aka fresh rolls) stuffed full of sprouts which they grow themselves in planter trays right behind the counter (doesn't get more local than that!) Finally, I cannot emphasize enough just how great the staff are: so friendly, so helpful, and everything is prepared and served with obvious care and pride. I mostly go to sit and read and have a latte. And it's perfect for that. Nice quiet place, nice people working there, the snacks are delicious and the mushroom-brie sandwich was surprisingly yummy. Love this place! read more
