What a fabulous salon! Everyone is friendly and enthusiastic about their work. Kayla has cut my hair 3 times now and colored it. I've been so happy with her work every time. For some reason my desired hair style is a difficult one to get stylists to cut accurately and even when I show them a photo I'm often unhappy with the results. Not Kayla! Whitney is an amazing hair stylist. Before I met her I was having a hard time finding a stylist that could work with my hair. My hair is half curly and half straight. And it was at an awkward length. I went through about 3 salons before I was introduced to her. I basically said "just do what you think will look good" b/c I had given up at that point. When she was finished, my hair looked amazing. From then on Whitney has been the only person who I trust with my hair. I get nothing but compliments on my hair. My response is always, "I have an amazing hair stylist. Here's her card." Whitney is the total package. She is extremely talented and professional with a personality to back it all up. You will never be bored sitting in Whitney's chair that's for sure. read more

This was my first visit. Same day appointment wasn't an issue. There's metered parking out front on Germantown Avenue, but you can do street parking in the neighborhood. About 3 or 4 stylist stations. I had Sarah as a stylist. She was really nice, gave a great cut, and was very personable. She gave me a consultation before we started and listened to my preferences. Erin has colored my hair several times. She does a beautiful job. She also dyes my brows which can be tricky; in her hands, they look good. Erin is personable, professional and stylish. I like the woman who washes my hair, too. When I discovered that I didn't have enough quarters for the meter, she immediately offered them to me. The salon offers comfortable chairs, an array of magazines and a low-key, friendly vibe. I love the colors on the walls. My only suggestion would be to vary the music a bit--maybe some jazz or songs from The Great American Songbook? Ground Zero is on an interesting block on Germantown Ave. I discovered it after attending a performance at Quintessence Theatre. I highly recommend Ground Zero! read more

Erin has been doing my hair on and off for nearly a decade and there is a reason why every time I move back to the area I go and see her - she's the best! She is wonderful and listening to what you want and then giving you feedback on how that will or will not work for your hair texture and/or face. This feedback is what makes you leave with a great style every time. You will always walk out looking your best. I have short, pixie length hair and I can always trust her to leave me looking edgy but feminine which is a huge deal when you have short hair! The studio is relaxing and cozy. I like supporting the local businesses in Mt. Airy. I saw Erin for a single process color. She did an excellent job and was very friendly and professional. The salon is small and intimate and faces GTA so lots of bright sunshine and there is a free parking lot across the street and metered parking in front. I will definitely return and recommend Erin for your color needs. However this shop is not a good place for small unattended children. read more

getting my hair cut is one of my least favorite activities: no one ever seems to get it right (i have extremely fine/thin hair, but a lot of it). i usually end up sulking about it for a few weeks then avoiding hair salons as long as possible (i made it 7 months this time, and my hair grows fast!). i tried Ground Zero on the recommendation of a friend and was pleasantly surprised! Wendy really took the time to listen to what I wanted and used her expertise to work with my (somewhat) difficult hair. the results were fantastic. i love my new look and feel incredibly relieved to have a local stylist i can depend on. the salon itself is very cute and comfortable and has a great location on Germantown Ave. I loved being able to look out the big store front windows while waiting for my appointment and while my hair was being worked on. read more

Wendy cut my hair. I asked her for a dramatically different style from the style I had when I walked in and she was fantastic. I have been going to Erin for haircuts for a few years now and I love this salon. Reasonable price and Erin always does a great job with my curly hair. Some stylists will get irritated if you're low maintenance and don't want a cut that necessitates blow drying, but I didn't experience that here. This is a great salon for men and women and whether you're a hipster or fending off the grays in middle age. The vibe is very relaxed and fun. Everyone in the shop is super nice and loves what they do. Wendy always manages to give me enough of a change/spruce up each cut, so I feel a little extra glamorous when I leave. I hate my hair. She didn't listen to what I wanted and I will now have to grow it out and go somewhere else to get it fixed. My hair is about 1.5 inches longer on one side than the other. Ground Zero is an excellent salon and has provided me with great service including fixing bad hair cuts from other salons (including an awful home cut I gave my husband), helping me with advice for new cuts, and overall great maintenance of good cuts they gave me and my husband. Erin is my regular stylist and she also helped me with hair for my wedding. She was flexible and creative. She helped me chose an appropriate style, showed me what would work or wouldn't work, and ultimately gave me wedding hair that was gorgeous without being overworked.
