I hired them to install…read morea large deer fence, after showing the owner Juan Martinez websites about how it should be done properly and agreeing to pay a higher price. The fence he installed was defective in almost every respect and not at all what we agreed on The posts were not the same height, for example, the gate was uneven and not the same height as the fence, the fence buckled and had huge gaps at the bottom where deer & animals could run though, and the corners and top tension wire were done so poorly that the fence was unstable. Plus his installers knocked down my stone retaining wall, near the driveway, and did not put it back, leaving a dangerous condition. I tried to address these problems through email and texts to Martinez, but he wouldn't answer. He kept saying to talk to his guys, but they didn't speak English. I finally sent my young Spanish-speaking assistant to talk to them, and they sexually harassed her. Martinez kept saying the fence was good and demanding payment. I sent him a final long email, detailing the problems and asking him to address them again. He responded by sending his guys out to my property again, w no notice, scaring my poor assistant to death (even though he said the fence was finished). I told him I would not pay him the $1275 balance on the contract, due to the defective nature of the work and the damage to my stone wall. Martinez actually had the nerve to sue me in small claims court for the balance. He's an operator who knows how to fool the small claims court magistrate judges. He failed to show up for the first hearing and lost, but he later claimed he had to take his wife to the doctor at exactly that hour and a second judge set aside the judgment against him. Five years later, the small claims court heard the case, remotely. By then, my assistant had moved and could not be located to testify about how bad the fence was, etc. But I submitted photos, emails, and texts which clearly showed the fence defects and showed that I told Martinez about all the problems and he did nothing about them. At trial, Martinez and his son misrepresented the facts to the judge. They claimed I wouldn't allow them to complete the work. I showed the judge emails and texts showing that wasn't true, that Martinez said he was done with the fence and wanted his money. Unfortunately, the judge didn't really seem interested in the photos or other evidence I presented. As a Connecticut taxpayer and responsible homeowner, I hate to say what comes next. This unscrupulous company won a partial victory when the judge ordered me to pay 1/2 the contract amount, plus court costs. So I'm out those amounts-- PLUS the $600 it cost me to have my retaining wall fixed, the $1700 plus estimated to have the fence put right, and hundreds of dollars in postage to have docs sent to Martinez or the court for the court case. Infuriating and unjust. PLEASE, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Martinez is dishonest, incompetent, and relentless. This was one of the worst experiences of my life.
