I had the pleasure of capturing this amazing Black-owned business at an event I attended in June--little did I know I'd meet the lovely owner just a few weeks later at a networking event! She told me where her next stop would be, and I made good on my word to pull up--and I'm so glad I did! My husband and I ordered the 10-piece fried chicken and waffles, and whew--it did not disappoint! The chicken was fried to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. The service was warm and welcoming, and we were greeted with a bright smile that set the tone for the whole experience. The location was easy to get to and super convenient for us. I encountered Groovy Chicken and Waffles as a food truck outside an apartment building in Uptown. Not a lot of traffic there--is it possible Uptown doesn't adequately appreciate chicken and waffles?--but I had to try. Verdict: about as good as you can reasonably expect from a little trailer cooking chicken and waffles! Both were cooked fresh while I waited. Flavorful chicken. Came with syrup and hot sauce--objectively the correct combo with chicken and waffles. I wouldn't mind if this food truck stopped by my office sometime. read more

I came to the Groovy Chicken and Waffles truck at the Denton Community Market opening weekend and she was sold out. BUT she was kind enough to give me her last wing and waffle and let me tell you, it was an absolute teaser! The breading on the chicken has SO much flavor! The waffle (without syrup) was the perfect compliment to the chicken which was juicy and packed with nom nom-ness. On top of that, the customer service was top notch. Unfortunately for me, she's already booked next weekend but she hopes to make it to the Denton market again this year and I can't wait! read more

Buyer Beware! We booked her for a wedding reception as a gift to the bride/groom. She EMAILED me during the reception to CANCEL. Stated she was blocked in; there was nothing she could do about it and hoped she could make it up to me somehow. I was shocked. At that hour on a Sat night, I couldn't even order pizzas. She then LIED to me when as a resolution, she agreed "she broke her own contract and gladly agreed" to pay me the minimum $725 I would have been required to pay her for the event. By not honoring her word or her own contract, she is setting a precedent for any future potential customers. I am disappointed a local business owner would handle this issue with such a complete lack of professionalism. Still, not once has she picked up the phone to call me and discuss. Her actions speak volumes of her lack of personal character and business ethics. I 100% DO NOT recommend doing business with them! read more

The food was delicious. Their fries were golden, salted perfectly, and the inside were silky and smooth. As for their breast, they were crunchy, seasoned perfectly. If you see this place driving around at a park or the restaurant itself, go and get something to eat! read more
