I was always so nervous about finding a great affordable groomer when I adopted Phoebe. I'm so happy we found Tara, and referred by another long time client. Phoebe has been coming to Tara since she was a puppy for almost 2 years. We are on a 5-6 week schedule. I've never taken Phoebe to anyone else and I probably never will. One thing I notice about Phoebe is that she loves coming to Grooming Day Salon. She doesn't try to runaway lol so that's a great sign! Overall happy with Phoebe's haircuts. Whatever shampoo and perfume Tara uses on Phoebe smells soooooo good. I love that Tara keeps track of each client. She keeps notes on Phoebe's haircuts. At each drop off, she asks to do "same as last time" which makes it so easy. No need to over explain. Any special requests, I just ask or let her know. Easy as that. Pickup is just as easy. You are in and out. Make sure to close the gate behind you. I really appreciate the occasional photo updates and the festive bows or bandanas during any special holidays. It was my pup's, Toffee, first time going to the groomers and as a first time dog owner I am not well-versed with anything related to grooming. I told Tara that I'd like for him to get a trim and his nails trimmed and she provided me with her personal recommendation and what she would do. Since my pup is shy around new people and dogs and can be difficult when touching around his face and paws, I was nervous but trusted in the process, and I'm glad I did! I'd leave 0 stars if I could! I took in my schnauzer for a bath and haircut & just hours after getting home, I could tell he was very uncomfortable and in pain! I started checking him and immediately saw they had hurt him in all his private areas I called at least 20 times before the owner TARA actually picked up. When I asked what happened to him and sent pictures of what I was seeing, I was told they had no clue and all they could do was provide a cooling gel. They also said he could have hurt himself some other way when clearly it was major cuts and burns all over his private parts and his tail. She didn't even apologize for hurting my dog or admitted to being at fault. I will never take him here again. It took several days of applying an antibiotic ointment his vet recommended before he was no longer in pain & redness/inflammation went away! Sadly he now has a scar on his tail for life & is traumatized due to the horrible treatment at your THIS LOCATION! If you're concerned about your dog's well-being, please consider taking him eles where . There are numerous excellent options available in the Bellflower area. I also noticed that there was a man working there wearing a TRUMP shirt, which is odd considering that the location is in a very Latino-populated community. I had been taking my pup to Tara for 5+ years. Her work is good. Her attitude is horrible and I had been brushing it under the rug because I liked her work. She has no manners. Doesn't even bother to say "Hello, Good Morning, Welcome, Thank you" etc. Doesn't even crack a smile. The ONLY time she's nice is when it's time to collect payment.. OF COURSE. She never wears a face mask either. I brought my pup back in because she didn't trim a nail and it had grown into her skin. I went in and tried explaining/ showing her my pup's paw and she just grabbed my pup and walked away and left me speaking to myself. That was the last straw for me. 5+ years of giving poor customer service and ugly attitude to myself, my mom and my husband.. that was enough. I really wanted to like this place, we've given Tara two chances. Like most people have said, her customer service just flat out sucks. First time- maybe she's just a dog person?! Our Goldendoodle came out looking good, we mentioned that he has a little ear we like to keep long and long eyelashes we LOVE...he was small at the time and she did the fluffy ears, which wasn't what we asked for but oh well. Second time, same crappy customer service, we again mentioned our dogs ears and lashes, but she didn't listen and cut his ear hair short, and chopped off his eyelashes. She texted me when he was ready and the rate was double what we paid for the last time, no explanation, just "nope" when I asked if the rates have changed. I picked him up and she said he would be a bit itchy in his ears from the cleaning up, what she didn't tell me was that she razor burned his bottom side, SO bad that he couldn't sit down!! We contacted the vet and we were given a remedy for him, but he was in pain for at least a week. Do your research, look around. I'm disgusted with the service received by this so called "groomer" I took my maltipoo in today and specifically told her I would like to keep the length on her body so just do a light trim I pick up my dog and she shaved her. Tara's excuse was that she was matted, My dog was NOT matted!! it was just an easy way to finish with her she did not even bother to notify me she just went ahead and shaved her!! I cannot believe I am sitting here typing this review and giving Tara 1 star because my dogs have gone to her for over 6 years now. I used to go to Tara since she groomed outside of her backyard and followed her when she opened her own shop. She has always done a great job and while she isn't the friendliest person, I always appreciated her professionalism and the fact that she was amazing at her craft. My dogs (I have two) went in for their grooming appointment at noon yesterday. When I walked in, she seemed like she wasn't having the greatest day and hey, we're all human so I let it go. Even if you are having a bad day, I figured she would treat my dogs the same way she has for the past few years. She was a bit rough in taking my male dog's leash off but I did not think anything serious about it. I went home and waited for her to text me that the dogs were finished with their grooming. She texted me and told me when I got there that she cut my male dog near his armpit. I had seen very small and minor cuts from grooming on my dogs before and I am usually very understanding about these things because sometimes, this can't be avoided. However, I got home and my husband and I started freaking out because we saw small drops of blood all over our kitchen floor. I texted Tara to tell her that it wasn't just a "small cut" and that Leo was bleeding. I also took pictures of the paper towels we used and the bleeding that happened on the kitchen floor. She texted me back telling me that he needs to "lay down and relax" so the bleeding would stop. How can you tell a dog to just "lay down and relax"? We tried to gauze it up and he kept bleeding through it so we took Leo to the urgent care vet. After a huge vet bill and my dog receiving stitches (the vet says the wound was really deep) for this "small cut" along with my dog still not feeling well 24 hours after this whole ordeal, I am really upset that while we remained loyal to her services, she couldn't even apologize or try to make things right. I texted her after the vet visit and told her that he ended up needing stitches and that it wasn't just a small cut and she didn't even bother to respond. I don't expect amazing customer service from going to her for many years. After all, I went for her skills and how she treated my dogs and didn't care whether she was a breath of fresh air or sunshine on a cloudy day towards me. However, I would think after going to her for over 6+ years that she would at least be apologetic that Leo is going through all this due to her carelessness. She probably has a lot of customers and doesn't care, but she lost someone that would've been a life long customer. read more

I truly believe Tara does an amazing job with animals. I've brought my dog 4-5 times and only had a *minorrr* issue (puffy ears, which I'm not really a fan of, but it's her artistic vision, and though I respect that, I specified each time after that that was too much for me, lol). Other than that, my pup came out looking adorable. He's an older rescue, so for me, pampering him is my priority. Her prices are also great, she uses quality fur color, her IG is also full of good-looking dogs, and she sends pups home with a bandana/bow each time. That's a nice touch! Having said all that, I was taken aback by her overall demeanor. I guess I imagined groomers to be overly warm to the customers and gushy to the dogs. Each visit felt like an inconvenience, or like I didn't know what I was doing; she would take my dog without really taking the time to talk to me or understand what type of cut I wanted. I had to kind of force it out before she rushed to the back. On top of that, I didn't always get a clear estimate of how long the appointment would be. Maybe all of that wasn't her intention, so I wish her the best and hope others have a better experience! P.S. On Valentine's Day, she sent home my pup with treats. Not sure why this place has so many good reviews. If you're thinking about coming here, seriously reconsider, they don't care about their customers, much less the animals. I would NEVER trust my dog to be left in their care. Customer service was so bad. Upon walking in, she was grooming a small dog that looked similar to a Shih Tzu and when my dad commented to her how cute it was and that we used to have one, she rudely said that she didn't know what breed the dog was or cared. Went in for the self service dog wash, had called ahead and she failed to mention that she had no hot water. One of the biggest reasons we wanted to go to a self service dog wash is for the hot water, especially since it was a very cold day. She barely greeted us when entering and paying/leaving. We felt like an inconvenience for even being there, I would never ever come back here for that alone. Handle in the shower broke off when I touched it lightly. Dryer didn't have any warm to cool settings, which took twice as long to dry our German Shepherd and even then, we left with him wet and hurried home to finish with our own blow dryer. She also didn't accept card, only Venmo or cash, which seemed strange to me as well. read more

I've been taking my dogs to see Tara for a while now but I can't be anymore pleased with the fact that her new shop is less than a mile from me. I have been taking my dogs regularly once a month for baths and cuts and Tara and her new space is fabulous. My husband and I also did the self serve bath... it was more like my dogs gave me a bath but Tara has a wonderful set up and supplies you with everything you need. It's a great alternative when you need them to get a bath in a pinch. Tara has taken many precautions in the set up of her space. There are multiple areas for different dogs to wait and I LOVE that my dogs aren't kept in a kennel. I especially am great cup for the custom gate she has when you walk in the door. My dogs already like little Houdini's one of them knows how to climb gates so knowing that she has a heavy dusty custom gate at the door is a huge relief! She also offers dog day care. I had a funeral one day and hosted a lunch after at my house. I didn't really want my dogs around because they beg for food (as if I didn't feed them). I arranged with Tara to have them stay with her at her shop and it worked out great! I recommend her to everyone i know who has dogs be cause she is great! read more

Being able to run her business from her back yard is so admirable and impressive for the quality of work she provides. I've been bringing my dog, Marley, to Tara since September 2016. I had been looking for a new groomer because the old one used cages and and he would come home itchy which lasted for a few days and would make him bleed from his scratching. When I saw that Tara didn't believe in cages and it was like a day care/grooming facility, I was intrigued. I found a picture from yelp and showed her the type of cut I wanted. The drive was about 20 - 25 minutes, but I immediately saw the difference in Marley's demeanor when he was picked up. He was happy and playful as if I was picking him up from a play date. I have been going back ever since. It worked out for us when Tara moved her business since it is much closer to me. I was really surprised that she was only increasing Marley's grooming an additional $5. Because of this, I always try to make sure to tip her since her service is worth every penny. I go every 2 months religiously, and Marley always gets excited when we are in the car and he realizes where we are going. She responds very quickly to all communication via text which is important to me. She also accommodates (when possible) when I try to make an appointment with short notice due to a shift in my schedule. There are a lot of groomers out there, but I feel that Marley has found one that not only grooms him, but also shows him the special attention he needs to feel comfortable and happy when he is there. She's worth all five stars, I swear. My dog Apollo is almost completely blind and not at all aggressive. I took him to Petsmart where a clueless groomer scared him and then refused to groom him, calling me back to say he probably needed to be sedated to be groomed; he's barely 12 pounds and literally licks every stranger he sees! Tara was my last hope because I really didn't want to drug my dog, but I was still really anxious because of his previous experience. When I arrived, she was cordial and didn't look at me like I was crazy even though I probably looked insanely nervous as I explained the blind situation. She gave me a price and expected time it would take so I left my dog as slowly as possible. When she texted to say Apollo was ready she kindly let me know that he did great :') I went to pick him up, and I kid you not, I didn't recognize him. He looked clean and his hair was cut neatly, but I especially noticed that he didn't seem at all stressed. I took him on vacation soon after and he got a lot of compliments. So I decided to give this pet groomer a shot because of my lack of time to personally shower and cut my dogs hair which I always do but I was forced to take them to this groomer who was fast to respond like others said because of my work schedule...What I should've did before was read the reviews because as one noted it's true after I picked my dogs up ( like the other person commented ) my dogs to were not acting the same to begin with both had clipper very bad clipper burns on their belly's on their legs so bad as my dog wouldn't stop consistently licking everywhere he was cut, one has a swollen eye now day after and has no hair around the eye as if they messed up, and both were acting very different as far as running every couple steps for no reason in a scared like manner, also wanting me to hold them while I'm sitting down or standing up and shaking traumatically all these signs are cases of miss treatment of some sort you can look it up yourself.save yourself I would not recommend this groomer save your fur kids a traumatizing experience And to update my review it's true she does not ask for vaccination records so you have no idea who's dogs are vaccinated Took my dog to the vet and they stated that the groomer had burners him and his private also that the environment he was in traumatized so that's the reason for his odd behavior PLEASE SAVE YOUR DOGS FROM COMING HERE!! He is a very nervous/skittish dog to begin with especially when it comes to loud sounds. Tara (owner/groomer) was so sweet I found her via YELP a week prior and left her a voicemail, she quickly responded via text. (Text messaging is her way of communicating with customers, which I think is awesome.) We set up an appointment for the next weekend. I recommended her to a family member who states would never go back. The last time I took my baby he had cuts on his legs and wouldn't let me touch his legs.
