Bumped my reserved shuttle by 2 hours. I can't change the reservation but they can? Find another option. Groome sucks.

The last time I scheduled and paid for a shuttle they literally no showed. I missed the flight and had to pay to rebook! I give grace ONCE. The customer service is HORRENDOUS. Today I gave a second chance. It's now -5 minutes past the airport departure time.... No van. Customer service, ust like last time he should be there any moment.... Now it's 20 minutes past. Still no van.... "Customer service" gets ZERO stars. Don't waste your time with these clowns. Uber or Lyft they will show up! read more

This April made the third time I've used this service, and will never again! Me and fiancé was picked up from The Hilton at UAB in Birmingham. The departure time was 4:15am, the driver didn't show up until 4:40 am, not only was he later and acting weird he tried make us be his reason for being late. Long story short, the driver dozed off multiple times which caused him to drive erratic and dangerous, the dispatcher literally called him two separate times asking why was he driving like a mad man. I dosed off and was awaken by the alarm buzzing and the bus veering off the interstate onto the shoulder, I was in shock, to make matters even worse the driver was visibly asleep, but suddenly woke up when we ran over something off the shoulder of the road, which violently shook the van and at the same time hit stomped on the brake while swerving into 18 wheelers in the middle lane then swerving back to the right. My fiance and I are severely injured because of your negligent driver. Our attorney will be contacting you all! read more

VERY BAD AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE!!! Here is the background: I booked two tickets for a trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga on 05/24/2023. On the day, the bus was scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM. My group arrived at the designated spot at 6:50 AM, well ahead of the departure time. However, to our surprise, the bus did not show up until 7:40 AM. During this extended waiting period, I had to urgently use the airport restroom. Unfortunately, while I was inside, the bus arrived and, according to my friend who was still waiting at the spot, the driver refused to wait for us and departed, even though I was merely 3 feet away from the bus, and shouting loudly behind that "I am here!". Later, I called the office to express my frustration and seek a resolution. However, the customer service representative refused to offer any form of refund for the inconvenience caused, saying that the management decided that the bus driver arrived on time and is of no obligation to my loss. I have outlined all the problems in this chaotic process below. These can all be checked by the airport surveillance videos, recorded customer service conversations, and the payment records: 1. The bus did not arrive on time, which clearly violates the rules set forth by the company. It is unjustifiable for anyone to retain customers' payment for a service that was not provided as agreed upon. 2. When I contacted the customer service, I was shocked to hear that the bus supposedly arrived on time and thus bore no responsibility for my loss. Again, how could you outright lie when the surveillance footage can clearly prove the bus was late? Additionally, there are airport staff who were witnesses to the entire incident. 3. There payment system is highly questionable. They request tips during the reservation process. Although I had reservations about making an upfront payment without experiencing the quality of their service, I still decided to tip 20% of the bus fare due to my understanding of the demanding nature of the profession from my previous work experiences with many long-haul drivers internationally. However, the quality of service I received fell far below the minimum expectations. At the very least, they should refund me for the tipping portion of my payment. I have to post my experiences here! I've used Groome lots of times from both the Nashville and Atlanta airports to get to Chattanooga. I have family in the area, and my Groome reservation is the one I make right after my flights are booked! They are always on time, communicative, and helpful. I ended up missing my initial shuttle (and flight) this trip due to a highway closure, and Wayne got me rebooked for the next day shuttle to take to my new flight no problem. I would definitely recommend Groome! Make sure and read the email they send when you book, as it has all the information about where to meet your driver. Thanks for being a part of my visits, Groome! Groome is probably in business because there's nobody else to offer alternate service. Their customer service is non-existent, they are difficult to work with, and their shuttle service, while often leaves on time, doesn't arrive on time. Many drivers just want tips, but they don't do much other than drive. Wish there was another option! read more

I used Groome for the first time & they were not bad. My only complaint was customer service. They messed up my return trip even though they had all my flight information. When I called & talked to customer service the rep was rude & refused to give me his name. I asked to speak to a manger & he said he was the manger.. huh. Eventually my problem was fixed but it was stressful having to depend on a rep to get back home. The stars I have were for the drivers there & back!!! They both were great!!! It is with much disappointment that I write this but feel necessary to share the unfortunate sub-par services from Groome transportation. On April 1st I entered into an agreement with Groome to transport my daughter and I to the Nashville airport from Chattanooga. I used their suggested shuttle based upon my flight. I will say that booking was very easy and the staff and driver that day were very pleasant. However, due to Groome Transportation's inability to deliver on their services, I was out an additional $1,267.42 and they have shown no desire to work with me on a resolution. Because of this, I can not recommend their services as they have proven they will not make right issues they, themselves, have created. Details: We were supposed to leave at 2:45 PM. The driver was there and was checking traffic noting that there was a delay around moccasin bend and felt we would be ok. However, the shuttle we were supposed to be on had not arrived yet (we were told it was running behind, however after two months they are now saying it was "mechanical"). Once it arrived and was fueled up we were on the way. At this point we were 30 minutes behind schedule before even pulling out of the parking lot. The driver jumped on the Interstate and we just sat in traffic moving about 2 miles in 30 minutes. Finally one of the passengers used Wayze and advised of an alternate route (which the driver should have already been prepared for). We had just now gotten out of Chattanooga and were already over an hour behind. Once we were clear of traffic the driver was only doing 55 in a 70 zone. We made a stop on Monteagle to pick up another passenger that wasn't there as I am sure they were so far behind it was rescheduled or they made other arrangements. We waited there approximately 15 minutes. At this time I pointed out that many of us were more than likely missing our flights. I also inquired as to why the driver was only doing 55. Amazingly the picked up the pace after that. The entire trip took over 3 hours, 4 with the time change, and as expected we missed our flight. I reached out to Groome to advise them of the issue and was offered a free ride back home and I could contact management on Monday. We were going on vacation, why would I want to go back home? I was able to book another flight to get our vacation back on track though 6 hours behind schedule which meant I couldn't get the rental car as they were then closed and couldn't get to our first hotel 40 minutes away so had to find other accommodations. On the 4th I was advised that Linda refunded all Groome charges. I asked about the other costs incurred and was told they would pass that on to her. I received no further communication so I called back the following week. Over the next 2 months I would reach out repeatedly with no little or no response back, I was essentially being ghosted. I was finally advised that the issue had been sent up to corporate yet there has been no further response. I finally gave a deadline to receive a response and received the "Mechanical" excuse, bad traffic and I chose the wrong time that their system suggested and they would not be assisting beyond the Groome charges they already refunded. I had always heard good things and was looking for a stress free start to our vacation, sadly, this was anything but that. They have, without a doubt, lost my business going forward. read more

Never again! We have tried and tried to be regular customers of Groome out of BNA (Chattanooga office). We have had so many problems the manager Ms. Linda Davenport had to get involved. She is great but the system is broken! Nothing helps! Horrible website and system that can't keep track of trips. Can't adjust a trip without calling in. When you call one person makes the change and the driver never gets the correct information. So you call back and the next person says "no". Then you have to pay in cash to get on a shuttle you have credit for. Save yourself the headache. Do not use Groome! read more

When I was shuttled from Chattanooga to ATL on Thursday, 3/30, I was advised at check-in that I would be on the 4/2 12:15 shuttle from ATL to Chattanooga. Today, I wanted to confirm that everything was still good to go and the customer service advised that I was on the 13:15 shuttle and that the 12:15 shuttle had been cancelled on 3/27. This is a large inconvenience and I hope that my flight arrives early and there is space on the 11:15 shuttle otherwise I will miss an extremely important family event. I was offered nothing for the inconvenience and their lack of consideration towards the situation. I could have used the 2 days after my arrival to plan for alternate transportation to make it to the event, instead they told me that I could cancel today for a refund or continue at the full price. read more

Mostly positive experience, convenient pickup and friendly staff, but our driver was tailgating semi trucks and it was very dangerous. Please instruct drivers to leave significant space behind semis as semis cannot brake quickly and there is no visibility when tailgating. read more

Terrible communication and extremely difficult to reach for changes. Their website is archaic and no one answers the phone. They also require a 15% minimum tip for their poor underpaid drivers. Groome has close to a monopoly on the shuttle service and no incentive to improve any systems. They don't allow cancellations, which I understand but when we were going to miss our flight due to bad weather in Atlanta and the airport was a mess with masses of people trying to get out, I wanted to tell Groome we wouldn't be there so they could resell our seats and let some poor soul get home. It was impossible to reach anyone or to cancel the reservation online (due to the incredibly complex and convoluted website they have). The poor underpaid staff aren't really able to make any decisions and the policies and lack of support aren't their fault. read more

As I am writing this, the 1330 ride I had schedule is 20 min late. Most likely will be over an hour late. This is the second time one I am using Groome, which is odd this the first time they stole my money (33.00), and refused to refund my money. I would have made other arrangements ( already planning to take a later shuttle). No convenience nor time savings. No refund nor discount. OK I use this service fairly often and I just had the weirdest experience last night because every other time for years the drivers are friendly, courteous and I always tip them well.. . GT runs every hour to and from Chattanooga AND Atlanta/Nashville. They are always on time (unless an accident delays traffic of course) and the new high top vehicles make the trip comfortable. My experience this time: The driver pulls up in the Atlanta airport and I take my bags to the back door and in a very friendly voice say "Hi how are you?". He ignores me, walks past me to the front of the van and talks to one passenger, loads her bags, walking past me again. He THEN, walks by me (and my luggage) again, ignoring me, and talks to the next passenger, and loads his bag (walking by me again). By this time I am pissed. I thought OK well maybe I was just invisible (If I drink too much I am LOL) or my Harley jacket offended him, or he just did not like guys with goatees, so when we got in the van, I thought I would try again.... I said " Hey, I really like the high top vans" and said " I wonder why they don't have GPS built in"... he grumbles, you don't know the owners very well do you? .... .well I tried. :-) OH BTW, he did not get a tip from me!! And my last comment is he was more aggressive than other drivers I have ridden with... He tailgated, constantly changed lanes in traffic, even more than I do on my Motorcycle!... .. but on a positive note, we made it back in well under 2 hours. I am giving them a 3 because of this bad experience.... However if I had not had this fun experience and challenging ride, it would be a 4+. Quite honestly with the new high top vans.. .for a shuttle bus ride, and quality of the drivers, it may get a 5 from me the next time I use them. read more

I have use the Groome bus three times so far and the service was excellent with one major consideration. My trip from Nashville to Chattanooga by driver consistently drove much too close to the 18 wheelers in front of him. It was making me increasingly anxious and I finally said to him that I needed him to back away from him from the vehicle's. He did Cabo but could've made it a bit further. I will continue to use them but will advise the driver that I want to give them the highest rating possible when I get in the van but tell them in order to do that I need him to keep distance from the other vehicles. read more

Stranded again by Groome Transportation Once again, Groome Transportation short-notice canceled my shuttle from Nashville to Chattanooga, due to a driver shortage. This incurred significant logistical expenses on my part. I had booked a seat on their BNA to CHA shuttle weeks in advance. They canceled my return shuttle literally as I was checking into my flight. The past few Groome cancellations have caused me to have to make short-notice flight changes, hotel and rental car extensions, and expensive ride-shares. They have also greatly burdened family members, who have had to make long drives to pick me up when shuttles were cancelled. I have been a frequent business traveler with Groome for a decade. For the most part, the experiences have been positive, and the drivers are good. Unfortunately, that has changed drastically over the past year. I realize the pandemic has hurt businesses in many ways. But if you cannot retain drivers, consider either paying them more, or providing improved benefits to your team. I travel frequently for work. Despite the bad reviews groome gets, my experience went very well. If you treat your driver and fellow passengers with respect, and are understanding of whatever situation arises, you will have a pleasant experience. My driver was professional, respectful, and overall very positive. He drove with caution and I felt safe the whole time. The van we rode in was very comfortable and the temperature was set to what the passengers desired. 10/10 will use again! *For those who don't know where you are being picked up* I had to do my own research to find out where exactly I was being picked up from after I got off my flight in Atlanta. They picked me up from GROUND TRANSPORTATION, on the side of the car and above the windshield it says where the car is headed. Hope this helps! read more

I've used Groome several times and I've never had any of the bad experiences that I've read some people have had. The only issue I had on this last trip was trying to call them to find out where the pick up stop was at Nashville Airport and I was on hold for about 20 minutes, even though the recording said I was the first person waiting. They should make it clear where the pickup spots are. I've had great experiences with the drivers. They've all been very nice and professional and very helpful. read more

I know this will be unique to my situation, but I must share this for other travelers. There is a lesson in this scenario: "never take the last shuttle." My plane was significantly delayed from San Diego to Nashville. I was already scheduled for the last pick up with Groome. I called their office prior to leaving San Diego because I was afraid I would miss the last shuttle. Which I did. I asked the Groome representative to see if he could in anyway hold the shuttle for 10 mins. I had exactly 15 mins to get of our plane and catch the shuttle. It took 22 mins. The shuttle was gone and it was nearly midnight. I was stranded at the airport. I called Groome twice and no one answered. An hour after calling 20 hotels I gave up, there was not a single room in a hotel available in the area. There was a basketball tournament in town. None of the auto rental places had one way trips available either. At this point when I called a cab company to come pick me up, I was told they couldn't send cars to the airport. I took the only cab I could find from Nashville to Monteagle. I couldn't get the cabby to negotiate a flat rate. This may have been only a few dollars more than a hotel, but It was expensive. I called Groome today to request a refund for 1/2 the trip. They quickly agreed, but when I stated my case and asked them "make this right" by offering me a full refund or a free trip, I was laughed at, condescended, and treated with an unaffected attitude. When the representative said "They must have told the shuttle to not wait for you. It wasn't there when you arrived." I was offended by his pointing out something that was PAINFULLY OBVIOUS to me. I said "No Shit." He told me I was cussing at him. He didn't have to be treated that way. I was never to call there again. He hung up on me before I could apologize. All because I was trying to negotiate some level of compensation for my trouble that would make it easier for me to call them again and use the service with the knowledge that they were willing to be compassionate. read more

I have been using Groome's for almost 10 years. I have always had a pleasant experience with them until this past weekend. On Friday night, I was supposed to take a Groome's at 11:15 at night. I rushed off my plane that landed at 10:45, made it to the waiting area outside at 11:05, and waited until 11:55 for my Groome to arrive. I waited in the cold for nearly hour and got no sort of reimbursement, nothing. Today, I was supposed to take a Groome back to the airport at 2 am. At 1:56, my boyfriend called the office to let them know we would be less than five minutes late, and to let the driver know we are sorry and we will be there at 1:03. The person working told us they were leaving strictly at 2 am and there was nothing he could o about it. We passed the Groome on the way in. The front desk worker didn't make any kind of attempt to stop the driver before he left, to alert him that we were almost there, nothing. In fact, he was the most unhelpful customer service worker I've ever encountered. We were told we could try the 3 am bus but they only seated 11 people and my boyfriend and I would make 12. So no help. No options. It's 2 in the morning and we will have to find another way. I wish I could say someone made us feel like our voices were heard or like they cared at all. I'm extremely disappointed at the customer service and inconsistency of Groome Transportation. Never again. read more

Usually my experience with them is excellent...but today it was the worst experience I have ever had..it was a customer service nightmare. I called to book a reservation from Nashville to Chattanooga. The young lady told me that I could meet the driver in Murfreesboro since I missed the shuttle leaving the airport. I was in the car and realized that she did not implement the new policy of guaranteeing your reservation with credit card payment..so I called back and she says she never confirmed with the driver..so it was no need to go to Murfreesboro...she tells me this as I am getting off the exit.. Well I realize that the Chattanooga office has about three or four people sitting there to make reservations....so I thought let me not go thru this young lady to do my reservation because I have to get to Chattanooga. I ask to speak to another rep and boy was I shocked. David got on the phone and let me have it..he said I was speaking to fast while giving my credit card payment to him and said if I wanted to keep my reservation I BETTER slow down...I am really upset at this time and put him on speaker to let my husband hear what I was going through. I then began to say my credit card number one digit at a time and he became irate and began to threaten to cancel my reservation again..he became extremely aggressive and verbally abusive. I will complete my 13:45 reservation today but this will b my family's last shuttle rides from the Chattanooga location..I would rather put $20 in my little 2015 Nissan Versa and drive myself then to go through this ever again. read more

With 3 minutes to spare they were out of the garage as soon as I got there. I was lied to, then I had to wait two hours for the next shuttle to arrive. Poor and rude customer service, expensive ride. A very good option for those looking to use the Atlanta (or other) airports. Saves you on wear and tear and finding a parking place (and paying for it) at the airport. Parking is free in the Groome lot. So only a few quibbles. One... they messed up one reservation date which I accept some responsibility for not making sure they knew I meant 3:00am, not 3:00pm. I ended up having to drive to Atlanta that early morning, as they were full. The second time, last time, I prepaid for the Atlanta to Chatt leg and was told the driver would have that information when I boarded at Altanta airport. No, he did not. Luckily I had my receipt with me. Gary the driver was great. My main thing I disliked, is their need (or policy) of camping in the left most lane and doing 75 and then not seeming to understand that this is not the correct way to drive, or why other drivers seemed to be upset with them. It is kind of odd. The left lane is for passing. We ended up almost being run off the road on the northbound leg by a pissed off trucker. On the southbound leg, the other driver was chatting and mentioned about road rage for reasons he seemed to not understand. I think I do. read more

I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Groome. But I must use them sometimes bc their price is much less than a flight from CHA, though I'd much rather get a flight than drive. The office smells of BO. Always has ever since I started using their service. It's just sour. I have rarely had a ride in a van that has a proper alignment. So be prepared to shake rattle and roll. I once took a trip where I was sleeping (I was shaken to sleep) and then jolted awake as our driver was falling asleep. Be prepare to have a full van. Their goal is to have full vans. The price is good compared to some flights, but check CHA. I often find they're just less than $100 more or sometimes even cheaper. Plus you get their faster. read more

Great for visitors to area. If they get a cheap flight to Atlanta or Nashville you can get here in less than 3 hours for $40 or less depending on gas prices. They raised rates recently do to high gas prices. read more

The van shook like the space shuttle reentering the earths atmosphere for the entire trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga. If simple maintenance like keeping the tires rotated and balanced is neglected, it scares me to imagine what else is NOT done. The driver picked up his clipboard no less than 3 times to read it while driving in heavy Atlanta traffic and was very obviously distracted while doing so. We then cutoff a tractor-trailer, just before our final exit, who had to blow his horn at our driver to avoid a collision. Flying to/from Chattanooga costs more, but is much safer. read more

Ride from Chatt to Atl was fine. When I called to confirm my return reservation I asked if the shuttle waits if a plane is a few minutes late. Since my plane was landing at 12:10am and the shuttle was scheduled for 12:30am I was a little anxious. "John" was nice enough to assure that "No, because of airport policy we leave exactly when scheduled, the next shuttle comes at 5:30am". I asked again just to be sure, "You won't wait a few minutes if the plane is late?" "No, we don't, its airport policy" So I called Hartsfield-Jackson Airport's ground transportation division. Janet assured me that it is not airport policy, the shuttle services determine their own schedules". Now, I'm waiting in LAX and wondering if there will be a shuttle waiting for me if I get outside at 12:35am. This shuttle company is NOT worth being worried and anxious all day and all during my flight hoping that I'm not 5 minutes late. My questions are: Q-Why do they get your flight numbers n your shuttle reservations if they don't monitor if the flights are on time? Q-Why does "John" (yes, his actual name) feel the need to blatantly lie about airport policy? Q-Why would the shuttle not be willing to wait 10 minutes when it only holds 6-8 passengers anyway? Q-Why do they collect your money up front if there is a chance that they will abandon you on your return trip? Q-Why did I choose Groome? Q-Why is "John" allowed to cause customer dismay which, in turn, results in poor reviews on several social media platforms as well as the BBB? (Maybe Groome is such an important and robust company that they can easy weather poor reviews and unhappy customers.) Q-How much is going to cost me to get from Atl to Chatt if my plane lands 5 minutes late? God forbid the luggage takes more than 2.5 minutes to reach the carousel. Q-Why is "John" messing with the driver's potential tip money/income? (My guess, he doesn't give a damn.) Q-What does the recording on the hold button say, "If you need to make any requests, just ask your Groome representative? (Apparently to give the CSR a good laugh and show the customer who is boss.) Q-What will I do if they are not there when I show up? A-I will utilize the 5-6 hours that I will have to wait for another one of their "shuttles" to show up to launch a "truth" campaign about Groome with the BBB, Facebook, Yelp, Google, Twitter, and any other platform I can find... Stay tuned. Addendum: I'd hate to think how much trouble this whole scenario would cause for an older person, someone with a disability, or worse. read more

I will never use Groome again due to the damage they caused to my laptop computer. I told the driver as he placed my bags in the back that my bag had a laptop computer. When we arrived at the airport, he opened the door, and my bag fell 6 feet down to the pavement. I told him that he had not packed the bags well. He argued that he had. That day I called to complain to the manager. He took a week to call me back and then argued with me as well. Rude and unprofessional all around. read more
