Updating my review as I recently visited the new location on Maple Street. I made an appointment with the very wonderful Rik and returned to Groom Studio to look for a nice suit for my boyfriend. I have previously visited the place with my cousin last year when they flew in from NY to look for a tuxedo for their wedding. Her husband likes the tuxedo so much he still makes good use of it even after their wedding. I also introduced my little brother, a recent college graduate, to Groom Studio to find a nice custom suit for job interviews. He was also very happy with his purchase so I knew exactly where to come to find a new suit! Rik welcomed us and greeted us when we walked in. He showed us several options and colors to choose from in various price ranges. After trying on a couple suits, we decided to choose the slim fit suit in a charcoal gray color. Compared to other stores in DTLA, Groom Studio's prices are very affordable for the quality. Rik offers exceptional service to all of his customers, which makes the experience more enjoyable. The whole process was very quick and easy. I highly recommend Rik and Groom Studio for any suit/tuxedo needs. read more

Whether you're looking for a sharp tuxedo or a suit, Rik is the guy you want to see. His selection of styles and fabrics are by far the best quality for the price, and his eye and attention to detail are impeccable. My husband and I eloped in January. My husband knew he didn't want a tux, but he didn't want to rent a cheap suit or blow our budget on a designer one either. After looking around for a bit, we found Groom Studio. From the very first phone call, Rik provided warm and outstanding customer service. Rik is the kind of guy who takes the time to listen to what you like, but uses his years of expertise to guide you towards what will look and feel the best. My husband is very tall, slim, and pale. Rik helped him choose a suit that flattered his figure and skin tone and made him look like ten. million. bucks. Seriously - I swooned when I saw him walk out of the fitting room! The best part is that my husband could easily wear the suit for other dressy occasions because it's so timeless. One of the coolest things about Groom Studio is the enormous selection of custom furnishings. From classic to bold to straight up funky, you can choose a tie or pocket square that fits your personality. We cannot recommend Groom Studio & Rik enough - he made part of our wedding planning fun and stress-free. We're looking forward to buying more suits from him in the future. read more

This a great place to buy a suit for an important occasion, I strongly recommend it. Rik did an amazing job finding the suit, custom bowtie, and braces I wanted for my wedding. He got it all done under a tight deadline. I'm not a small guy and he found a way to have the suit tailored so it fit like a glove without giving up comfort. My wife and a lot of my guests complimented me on my suit and I have Rik to thank. Overall, Groom Studio provides exceptional customer service with great affordable suits. read more

My husband meet Rik downtown and loved the concept of his store. We did look around a bit at other big box stores just to compare rentals and or purchase options. We found there was no better deal, especially for the quality, than suits at Groom Studio. Having a fitting with all of the groomsman helped to elevate the big day for my husband and make his attire feel really special. Rik also takes pride in his tie selection and has a lot of really fun and versatile options! (Although - nothing to do with Groom Studio - the day before the day of our rehearsal dinner we somehow lost 4 of the 6 ties and we had to come up with a plan B. Haha weddings never go quite as planned. It is still a mystery to this day where those ties have ended up.) I would highly recommend Groom Studio for your wedding, special occasion or even just a new, perfectly tailored suit. read more

I don't know what happened, but Rik disappeared without delivering on the suits that I ordered and didn't issue a refund. I ordered suits for myself and my two groomsman back in July 2018 and August 2018 for my wedding on Sept 30, 2018. When I first met Rik in July 2018 to do my initial fitting everything seemed great. He was friendly and talked a good game. I felt really comfortable with him and placed my order for my wedding suit. Later in August 2018 I placed an order for two additional suits for my groomsmen. Again, Rik was friendly and helpful stating it would be no problem to get the suits ordered and delivered. At the beginning of Sept. when I hadn't gotten a call that my suits were ready I reached out to Rik. He said that he was busy with a huge wedding, but as soon as it was done he'd get my suits shipped out and delivered. That wedding came and went and I didn't hear anything. By mid September 2018 Rik disappeared. He didn't return phone calls or emails. Finally on Sept 18, 2018 I get an email response saying that he had a family emergency back east and apologized for dropping the ball on ordering and delivering my suits. He said that he would issue me a refund. I was mad at the time, but felt bad for him, assuming there was a real emergency. To this date I haven't received a refund or the suits I ordered, nor has Rik returned any phone messages or emails since September 18. Luckily I found another vendor on Yelp who bailed me out and got me suits for my wedding. I've found a lot of bad reviews about Rik Dukar online. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but that was clearly my mistake for not doing more research beyond Yelp. I don't know what happened to him, but if he resurfaces in another city selling suits be warned because this appears to be a pattern. read more

Impeccable service! My partner and I were having hard time finding a tuxedo for our wedding; or at least the right one. Since we live in downtown anyway, we though it would be easier to find something within walking distance, but never would we thought we would find something next door! We live next to Groom Studio at 810 S Spring Street, and we took this as a sign... I walked in one day, and was greeted by Rik. And the actual reason we chose Groom Studio (besides being conveniently close) was because of Rik. I knew right away he would be the right person for the job. You can really appreciate his passion for what he does. Chloe and Rich made a big impact to us as well, and made us feel very comfortable during the fitting. Everything look great, and we were more than happy with the outcome! We would definitely recommend Rik and his team, and will continue to use him for everyday suits as well. Thank you guys!! Groomstudio made my boy's perfect first communion. My son, Kevin had first communion at church. So he needed his suit. And Rik made perfect suit for him. Specially....his bow tie was awesome. Rik made small size cute bow tie. My son chose the fabric and Rik made small size bow tie. It was like Cinderella's crystal shoes. The awesome tie made my son looked perfect. I was so satisfied my son's fit, too. My boy looked so cool. And Rik did very good work with 8 years old stubborn boy. Thank Rik, again. And I give you 5 stars. Two thumbs up!!! read more

Rik is the man! I got a suit from him for a wedding I'm a groomsman for, and it was fun getting fitted there with the rest of the guys sipping on whiskey and having pizza that Rik ordered for us. We got married on September 29, 2018. We were referred to Groom Studio by our friends who got their suits for their wedding through them, and we first met with Rik on March 28. We went early with the intention of getting our suits long in advance because my groomsmen are spread out across the country, and were initially impressed at the cut, color, and value of the suits he showed us. We picked out a beautiful lapis blue slim fit suit. My future father in law and I both paid in full for our suits on July 1. Rik told us he had all of the suits in stock, and would ship out the suits the day after payment was received from my groomsmen, all of whom called in and paid in full as of August 7. After this point, several emails to him to try to get a suit fitting for myself and my future father in law went unanswered. Calls from my cell phone went unanswered. I finally got him to answer the phone when I called from my work phone on August 30, and he explained he hadn't replied to emails or returned calls because he was in the hospital due to being involved in a car accident. While I had him on the phone, I asked when he would ship out the suits for my out of state groomsmen. He claimed that because of the delay in some of them getting sizes and payments in, the suits had since gone out of stock but were to be back in stock in the next couple days. He then promised to ship out these suits and send us the tracking numbers by September 10, which came and went without any contact from Rik. Emails and numerous calls again went unanswered. So now, as of September 12, 17 days before my wedding, my groomsmen, future father in law, and I still did not have suits, so I had to acquire a new set of suits last minute from a different vendor. We have since filed charge disputes with our credit card companies to get our money refunded. I had the most perfect experience here for my wedding suit last fall. Even though I was just a single customer with no groomsmen, the entire staff treated me as if I were royalty. Rik took meticulous measurements and helped me pick out two beautiful ties that were hand sewn in Colorado. Everyone knew my name and made sure I was attended to. Where I was completely blown away was when there was a problem with the suit arrival. Last September, a large shipping company went bankrupt and the Port of Long Beach revoked their docking privileges causing a huge delay across all industries. My suit was on one of their ships. Rik was incredibly responsive and called me repeatedly to assure me that I would get my suit in time - no excuses, no "it's not my fault." He even went so far as to buy a similar suit from a competitor to have on hand, on the off chance the suit didn't arrive on time. Luckily, the suit came in with a couple days to spare and Rik tailored it in a modern style almost perfectly (my fault for not pointing out one small thing that didn't fit quite right). The suit looked fantastic on the big day and seems very well made - plus the price was extremely reasonable. A similar suit would have cost about twice as much at a department store - not including the tailoring. I wore it again this past weekend, and will again for several years to come. The downtown's garment district is a great place to explore, with a wide range of prices and quality. Groom Studio hits that sweet spot of high quality at a great price. Plus, the staff is knowledgeable and attentive. read more

My husband and I are so happy that we found Groom Studio for his tuxedo and groomsmen suits. Just felt so lucky to find a place that shared our aesthetic for a modern stylish look while also being affordable. My husband had some bad experiences with some of the name brand rental places for tuxes/suits (poor fit, cheap fabric, bulky). At groom studio he was able to buy a modern cut tuxedo that was tailored perfectly for him. His groomsmen were also stunned at the price for the quality and fit. Everyone at the shop couldn't be nicer as they guided us through the process. They were also able to coordinate with our out of state groomsmen. I couldn't recommend them more highly- these guys really know men's formal fashion! read more

Amazing service, amazing prices! I can't stay quiet about Ric and Tracy at Groom Studio!  I'm in a wedding who stumbled upon Groom Studio while having drinks at Perch.  We decided to buy our formal attire instead of renting it for about the same price - no return deadlines or penalties here, just amazing service.  The experience with Ric and Trae has been beyond exceptional.  They truly make you feel special and sophisticated from the moment you walk in - enough so, that I decided to purchase three additional suits, a couple of shirts, and some bow ties - everything tailored by Trae to fit me like a fine suit should.  This is the beginning of a lasting relationship, and I'm sure I'll be back for the grand opening of their new location.  Keep up the good work! read more

Rik did an incredible job on my husband's custom tux for our wedding. From start to finish the experience of working with Groom Studio was excellent! My husband is a pretty casual guy but wanted to look super dressed for our wedding. Rik educated us on tux styles and walked us through all the fine details which made my husband feel sharp and confident on our big day. The price point was reasonable and the turn around time for a bespoke tux was impressive. We live in DTLA so we were able to walk to the shop which was welcoming and elegant. Thanks Rik for the awesome service!!!!!!!!! read more

tl;dr Awesome place. Great, great value and service. Get a tux here. I received my first invite to a black tie wedding and panicked a bit. Living a couple blocks away from Groom Studio, I had noticed the display and made a mental note to check it out at some point. However, the place looked fancy and I assumed the pricing would be in the stratosphere. I went further afield to the garment district in downtown instead and was very disappointed with the polyester waiter/valet tuxedos. Visited Macy's and looked online and finally made it back to my neighbor, maybe just to see how the other half live. They turned around this whole experience for me. I know very little about anything really and my new friends at Groom Studio were very patient and friendly. There wasn't any pushy upselling or nose in the air and they worked with my budget. Plus dare I say I look pretty decent in a tailored tux with all the accoutrements. My wife thinks I am some sort of shopping wizard. read more

What a fantastic experience! Rik and his team are so professional. After a disastrous experience at Men's Warehouse, we were so please to find this new concept. For the price of a rental, you will walk out of the door with a perfectly fitted tux, To keep and use over and over again. You will own it, a perfect fit to you and the best quality tux in the business. The personal attention is 2nd to none. Run, don't walk, to The Groom Studio...Highly recommended. read more

I was married in May 2017, but I'm just getting around to writing this review. Sorry, Rick. Groom Studio is great. It's a locally owned small business, not a gross chain where you rent $25 shoes for $50. The suits are gorgeous and the attention you get from Rick and Rich is awesome. I really like that Rick makes himself available and works around your schedule. Groom studio goes out their way to make sure everything is satisfactory. There was a delay with getting a custom-cut tie and Rick called an Uber and had the driver drop it off at my place. How awesome is that? Oh, also, he ordered me and my groom's party pizza for our fitting day. On that day, a groom and best man walked into the place, and their wedding day, and had a small issue with their suits and Rick took care of it for them. Would definitely go again. read more

Great Service and Affordable Prices! Thanks Rik!!!

When I was looking for a suit for my wedding, I took a look at a few different stores before I found Rik. Although Rik only carries a certain number of suit samples and sizes in the store, it turned out that the sports coat floor sample fit me almost perfectly. In addition, I liked the style of suit which was more modern with a higher cut under the arm pits for a more fitted look. Rik took my measurements and said my suit would be available next week. I came in for my fitting appointment once the suit was ready for pick up. It turned out that the suit pants were a little larger and loose for my liking. Rik said that he would send it back to the tailor free of charge and ship the suit to my house free of charge so that I would not need to make another trip back to the store. The pants arrived at my house re-tailored and fitting very well. Rik is very professional and has a way of making you feel at ease while you are in the store. Furthermore, Rik does not come off as a salesman which is the vibe that many suit vendors in downtown give off. Rik has a very laid back, no pressure approach in his store which I really appreciated. I highly recommend Rik for anybody looking for a good suit for any occasion. read more

Great place with friendly customer service. I have a bodybuilder frame and finding suits that fit needs extensive alternations is tough. I let Rik know beforehand my budget and he was more than happy to work within that range. Everything was perfect from the initial appointment, to the fitting, and final pick up. I will definitely come back here whenever I need a suit. I'm happy I took a chance with Groom Studio. If you're trying to decide where to go for a sharp quality suit at a more than reasonable cost, come here. No regrets! read more

GROOM STUDIO IS A SCAM. Plain and simple. Rik delivers sub-par tuxedos to only half his customers and the ones that actually receive something from him often have missing items, others never receive anything. Here is the link to Rik's last scam business doing the same thing under a different name: https://www.yelp.com/biz/rik-ducar-los-angeles His Maple street store no longer exists and he is now operating through a company called Control Collective that has spots all over Los Angeles that anyone can get a membership at regardless of whether or not they are a legitimate business. Rik will lie to you on the phone and tell you he's opening new locations when in fact he's just operating through a membership with Control Collective. My fiancé and I first met Rik in April 2018 with our best man. Though he was a fast talker with a penchant for celebrity name dropping, Rik seemed like the real deal at first. The best man tried on his tux and we placed an order for him, my father in law and my brother in law on July 10th. Fast forward to today August 29th and the best man still has no tux and both brother in law and father in law received only half of what they ordered. We're now having to start all over again at Mens Warehouse and this has created so much unnecessary stress. Every time we managed to get Rik on the phone he had some excuse that didn't add up, and that's when we could get him on the phone. Most of the time he ignored us. Whether we called or emailed we were either ignored or lied too repeatedly. This man is a liar and a thief. I don't know if he bought the below reviews or if he just used scam money from his previous sham to front off Groom Studio to make it look legitimate at first and now things are falling apart just like his last "business". Either way his business is now a complete sham and you should stay as far away as possible. read more

GO to the Groom Studio!! Rik is the nicest guy and an awesome suit master with years of knowledge. After making an attempt at Black Tux (which doesn't do custom fitting - though they say they do) my wife and I found groom studio in downtown. Made an appointment, and from day one, everyone that works there is professional and friendly, no overselling pitches, just genuine helpfulness and a love for the craft. Feel in love with the midnight tux and followed up with 2 fittings with Rik to make it perfect. Everything was on schedule, arrived on time and got many compliments the day of the wedding. Posting photos once I get them. You're not going to beat the price point for the quality of suit and the service you get at Groom Studio. Seriously recommend to future wedding parties. The bride and I went to help the 6 guys in her wedding party pick out a suit. The staff here are incredibly helpful and put up with our party's silly and redundant questions. They were patient while we weighed the color and price options which are fantastic to begin with. For 200 dollars to get a great suit and shirt which they also tailor is so worth it, especially when rentals are almost as much and so il fitting. They were so accommodating that they also provided pizza and soda for the rowdy group. I will definitely be taking my husband back here when he needs a tuxedo or another suit. read more

I would like to thank Ric for being exceptionally professional and prompt with me and my father. I've been to other places that sell suits and this place definitley beats out all the others. The facility is clean, modern, and offers an uncomplicated selection of timeless suits. If you need fashion advice or help coordinating colors, they happily offer their expertise. Ric genuinely cares about his customers needs and he went above and beyond to help us by personally tailoring our suits and ensuring a proper fit. I'm pretty hard to fit since I'm slim and modestly tall, but Ric managed to fit me with his expertise! I'll definitley be coming back again for more suits in the future. Finally have some time to write this review after my wedding. First off, I didn't expect much from Groom Studio as I stumbled in as a walk-in after seeing their window displays from the street. I work in downtown and noticed their storefront driving by so I said why not check it out. As I came in trying to find my tuxedo for my wedding I was approached by Rik and was completely blown away by the stellar customer service that he provided me. It wasn't just the customer service but Rik really went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and allowed me to voice my opinions and wants. He really surprised me by not being a typical "salesman" and actually listened to me rather than telling me what I want. As for myself, I'm not your typical groom that doesn't care what type of suit/tux I get and Rik really understands that, hey, guys really care about looking great for their wedding just as much as the bride! With that said, I decided to move forward and also book my 7 groomsmen to get their suits here too. I can't tell you enough how cool and accommodating my experience was. Rik even setup a groomsmen fitting party where he provided us with pizza and drinks which I appreciated a lot...it was a great way to get all my groomsmen together and get our measurements in. I have to admit that I wasn't the easiest person to deal with, I'm extremely meticulous and detailed, especially when it came to my tuxedo and finding the right suit for my groomsmen to wear. After all, if my groomsmen were paying for a suit I wanted everyone to be happy with the price and quality of it and groom studio did not disappoint. That's another thing...I was impressed with the affordable prices of the suits while the actual material of the suits were great quality. I plan to come back to get a couple more suits for work. Another thing that was convenient is that they do their own tailoring as well. I really wanted a Modern-Fitted-European slim-fit suit and they were able to cut and tailor everything to my liking. Most other companies say they have a slim-fit suit but in actuality it doesn't come out looking like how you envisioned...this is one more thing that sold me was that groom studio actually has that modern, sleek, fitted look. Overall, my experience with groom studio was top notch...it really was. I'm big on customer service and Rik made me feel at home and was extremely kind and really cared as much as I did about my wedding. He's prompt on appointments, considerate of your time and makes himself available by email/phone/text. Give them a try! Guaranteed you'll be as impressed as I was. Thanks Rik! I'll be sending you photos from the wedding soon! read more

These guys are amazing! They saved my wedding! I bought a bow tie thinking that I could figure out how to tie it and/or somebody I knew could tie it but came up short on all attempts. The wedding was at 4pm on a Saturday and I was scrambling at 1pm still trying to figure it out. I jumped on Yelp and found Groom Studio was only 1 mile away from our venue. I called them up for last minute help and they said come on down and they'll tie it for me. I ran over and the two guys in there couldn't have been more progressional and caring. They quickly tied the tie for me and even offered to give me a special order tie they had with the same pattern and much better quality than mine. As amazing as their offer was, I was happy with my bow tie. You don't get customer service like that anymore. I was blown away how awesome these guys were(wish i got their names). They refused to take any type of payment and I was in and out in 5 minutes. They just wanted to see me happy on my wedding day. I wish I would have found them before my wedding because I would've gone to them for everything. Thanks! read more
